Went yesterday’s and it was so frustrating. Arrived 15 minutes after the store opened They got a handful of the children’s advent calendars and they were gone within minutes. Same with the cheese. So frustrating to see some people walking out with multiples in their cart before others even got in the door. My state doesn’t allow the sale of alcohol at Aldi’s so none of those available. Can’t even imagine how hard it would be to get one.

    • Bunny

I think it all depends where you live. My local Aldi is generally well stocked with these special offers. Maybe ask a friend in another area of your city/state if they could get it for you.

      • Mama2Nine

Absolutely! I have an Aldi 20 min away that has tons of stuff bc they get tons of inventory, then I have one 15 min away that barely gets anything. It’s super frustrating.
-Maybe the person was buying for more than one child. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I buy for nine children, so I tend to buy multiples.
You wouldn’t believe the things people say to me about it. Ridiculous..
Especially, when it’s bad weather or during the first of our pandemic and I bought a lot of milk. We use 11 gallons a week! Not hoarding milk people. Chill! 😂

        • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ha! Mama2Nine! I understand – I have 5 of my own and we have custody of my 2 nieces. I get the same looks. My little one had just turned one when the pandemic was really getting going so getting just one milk was not an option. I ended up having to ask family to buy me milks!

          • Olivia

As one of 8 kids, I totally understand! I am sorry people give you ugly looks when you are buying enough for your family! 🙁

    • Rae

The cheese one wasn’t that great last year. It ended up going clearence because no one bought.

    • wimedtypr

I saw at our aldi limit of 7

    • Stormy

I love, love this. We need more of this in today’s world. Thank you for sharing!! ❤️❤️ I plan to stop today to see what my store has in stock 😉

I love this story! My daughters are both grown now and this makes me miss those days!

    • MommySpendsLess

Love this story. Thanks for making me smile.

When my daughter was younger I put notes, jokes and little surprises in her lunch box for holidays and special occasions (first day of school, big test days) but I stopped once she got to middle school because I thought she would think it was lame and her friends would tease her. We got to talking about the Halloween themed lunch I made her one year in 1st grade and she half jokingly said she wanted a special Halloween lunch this year. I readily agreed (there hasn’t been much magic for anyone this year plus I don’t have that many more kid years left) but questioned whether the other kids would tease her. She replied that her friends actually think it’s cool that I take the time to do those kinds of things since most of them have to pack their own lunches. It’s all about the little parenting wins 🙂

      • SuzieQ

Absolutely it’s about the little things. And even if it might embarrass thm this time when they get older they will appreciate the love behind it. I made my kids lunches, most days, even thru High School. (The lines were long and they didn’t have time or much time to eat.). I too put notes, funny, serious, love, congrats, etc in their lunches. Unbeknownst to me my daughter saved lots of them. While in college she gave me a handmade book with over a dozen special ones in it and hand wrote what those meant to her. She passed in an accident a year later and that is one of my most prized possessions…worth more than gold!

        • SuzieQ

My kids did like me making their lunches. It was easier for them…lol

        • Susi

Ok you win!! That was a total tear jerker So precious your daughter saved those special things!!!

        • Mama2Nine

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing that memory. ❤️
Sounds like your daughter was a very sweet and caring young lady. What a perfect gift she gave you!

        • amy knightley

you just made me cry…I am so sorry for your loss..

        • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thank you for sharing this very special memory and reminding us to love always. I’m sorry for your loss and hope you can find joy in the handmade book your daugther gave you.

    • Susi

My girls are adults and this brought tears to me 😂 because I miss the younger years. what a sweet sentiment Thank you for sharing!!!

    • Olivia

I love this! Thanks for sharing!!! We got a cheese one and because of this I will probably be silly while we open it too, LOL!

There are four Aldi’s fairly close to where I live and work. I’ve found that some of them seem to get almost none of these items and others have so many. If I can’t find something at the one closest to home, I’ll try the one near my office and then the others from there. 😉

I’m a little disappointed that the Barbie one is the exact same as last year. I would have gotten another one but it’s literally the exact same item. 🙁

  4. iamkris10

The Aldi nearest my house only seems to have, like, 2 of each. The one nearest my mother is always well stocked. The past two years, I’ve asked her to get them for me and I just reimburse her. It’s a hassle, but doesn’t seem to be improving in the pandemic.

  5. sue-4

Prices must vary because I paid more than what you posted.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the feedback! Pricing can sometimes vary by location.

I got there yesterday 1/2 hour before the store opened and there were already 20 people in line for the wine calendar! They had a limit of 2 per person. I was able to get some other advent calendars for my kids. But I’ll bet all the advent calendars were gone by the end of the day.

    • Erin

My stores had signs posted that said they were handing out tickets for the alcoholic advent calendars but I went late yesterday to my store, which rarely seems to have the stuff in ads and they had huge displays of them. I was tempted to get the beer one but $50 is a lot, especially for Aldi’s “specialty” stuff, which can be hit or miss for me, plus I don’t need all those empty calories, so I passed. 🤣

  7. marie

I bought the coffee one…has anyone ever tried it before? Was thinking about giving it as a gift.

  8. wimedtypr

I went in for dog and kid advent calendars and ended up with fall clearance decor 90 percent off it seemed, saw lots of holiday candy, cookie kits like pinwheels, and the stand mixer and bakeware. I got a nice easy turkey rack/lift

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Woohoo! Great scores, wimedtypr!

  9. Jenn

I went this afternoon and they had about a dozen each of the seltzer and beer ones left much to my surprise! I went for regular shopping and lucked into it. They had the beer ones still in the brown boxes, so they didn’t look like anything at first glance. Very happy because hubby was sad he wasn’t getting the Costco one again! The cashier was surprised they had them left too – she said they were busy when they opened, but had indeed gotten a lot in. There weren’t a lot of the toy ones left at all.

  10. Lisa

My Aldi in central rural Illinois had tons of everything of these. I didn’t pick up any advent calendars cause I got my daughter the nail polish one listed here on H2S earlier. I did however pick up the turkey fryer (since it doubles as a steamer) and the vacuum bag system. I really dislike they get so few of things and they often sell out fast.. I am not sure why we have so many advent calendars!

  11. Snowflake1211

My husband went to get some for us as we enjoyed it so much last year! They open at 9 here and he got there about 10 minutes before. They just came outside and asked what the people wanted and gave them vouchers for what they wanted (so they didn’t make a made rush black friday style). He said they had plenty of vouchers once it opened and the employee was still standing there TRYING to hand out vouchers to people walking in but nobody was taking them lol He got us 2 beers and 2 cheese and one child one. We had a ton of fun last year with the beer so I’m glad we’re able to get them again! Our Aldi’s doesn’t sell wine but the one about 20 minutes away does. Maybe next year we’ll try to get one of those!

  12. Jeanie

Last year I bought the cheese, chocolate, beer and wine advent calendars and was very disappointed in every single one of them. $70 for airplane size bottles of wine that only a couple were decent. Beer was not good and lots of repeats. Cheese was a ridiculous 2 bites size and repeats. Chocolate was about the only thing okay. All hype. I gladly stayed in my warm bed this year instead of wasting my money and time at Aldi.

    • Olivia

Uh oh. We spent $235 on Advent calendars. (I know… ridiculous.) My husband has lost his company due to COVID and he is fighting getting depressed over it. He just happened to be with me when I dropped kids off at school, and so he went with me to Aldi. We got sucked in, because we arrived 30 minutes before the store opened, and there were already about 10-15 people in line. So we bought one beer, one wine, one cheese, a couple of candles, and chocolate calendars for each person in our family. There were no prices on anything, and I honestly wasn’t expecting them to be that expensive, HA! But whatever, it gave us some excitement for the day. And we are fine on money right now, so we didn’t go into debt of anything crazy. Hopefully it will give him some much needed Christmas CHEER! 🙂

  13. Kristina

I got the Disney cars, coffee and seltzer ones. I never make it early enough for the beer and wine calendars.
