The fryer has a very high-tech look and I really like the emerald green display that shows you temperature and time, and the buttons are easy to operate. I’ve used my Elite Platinum fryer for preparing eggplant, bananas, onion rings, and french fries – and cleanup is easy and fast.” – Elle ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

4. Instant Pot Vortex 6-Quart 4-in-1 Air Fryer

instant pot air fryer with open basket on counter

Not only are air fryers a healthier alternative to deep-frying, but they’re also a time-saver for those of us who don’t always have time to heat up the oven or stove. This Instant Pot air fryer “fries, roasts, bakes, crisps, and reheats to perfection,” all in a fraction of the time of other kitchen appliances. Lina even shared these 11 air fryer veggie hacks that you could try with your new Instant Pot!

  • 4 built-in Smart Programs to air fry, roast, bake and reheat
  • 8 simple touch controls are easy to use and easy to read
  • Convenient reheat button
  • Access to over 1000 recipes on the free app

Here’s what one reviewer said about her Instant Pot Vortex:

“I love this thing! I hesitated to buy it because it takes up prime real estate on my counter but after trying out some stuff cooked in one my friend had I just had to buy it. It’s fantastic for cooking chicken wings and for baking things like those frozen garlic breadsticks my kid loves that require you to heat up the oven to 4,000 degrees just to cook them for 4 whole minutes. That’s no fun in south Florida heat!

But where it really shines is in reheating leftovers like pizza and fried foods. I even reheated fish and chips using the air fryer mode and they tasted just like fresh from the restaurant. I’ve used this thing at least once a day since I bought it, sometimes more. We toast scones for breakfast, make tuna melts for lunches, and cook wings and fries for dinner. It’s fantastic!” – KL ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

5. CHEFMAN TurboFry Touch 4.5 Qt Digital Air Fryer

chefman turbofry air fryer on store shelf next to other air fryers

With this 4.5-Quart Chefman air fryer, you can have dinner ready in record time and a super-fast cleanup to match! The fingerprint-resistant stainless steel exterior is sleek and less bulky than some other air fryers, and reviewers are notably impressed by how quiet it is.

  • Dishwasher-safe & non-stick basket
  • LED display with easy shake reminder
  • 1500 watts for quick & even cooking
  • Easy to clean design
  • 1-year Chefman manufacturers warranty

Here’s what a reviewer had to say about her CHEFMAN Air Fryer:

“I know I’m late to the party, but this is my first air fryer…I’m not a HUGE fan of gadgets in the kitchen where it only has one purpose (ex. quesadilla maker) and then you can’t do anything else with it. This thing has really simplified my life and I haven’t even used all of the available features yet…

So far I’ve made shrimp, chicken wings, regular fries, and sweet potato fries and everything has been awesome! I want to dehydrate some fruit next, but haven’t had a chance to do it yet. The biggest takeaway from this unit is its versatility… It’s several appliances in one, and that’s something I love.” – Samson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

6. Breville Smart Oven Air Convection Toaster

Here’s what Jenna from our team had to say about her Breville Air Fryer:

“I am obsessed with my Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer! It definitely is on the spendier side, but it really does do it all! Since getting it, I have only used my actual oven a handful of times. This thing makes everything crispier – from fries and pizzas to chicken legs and wings! Plus, it bakes cookies to PERFECTION! Love it!” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

7. DASH Deluxe Electric Air Fryer + Oven Cooker

DASH frying appliance with fries in the basket

We know we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but the DASH Deluxe Air Fryer in that retro aqua shade is certainly nice to look at! But don’t worry, this powerful air fryer is more than just a pretty face.

Here are some of the cool features:

  • Large 6-quart capacity
  • Auto shut-off function to prevent overcooking
  • Adjustable temperature control
  • Fry, crisp, bake, sear, and roast all in one
  • Includes a recipe book
  • Available in several colors

The only downside is that it’s a bit larger than some other fryers on this list. Luckily, if you can’t spare the counter space, DASH has a smaller air fryer perfect for compact kitchens!

Here’s what one reviewer had to say about her DASH Deluxe:

“So I’ve been wanting my family to eat healthier, but my husband is resistant to change. He is a man who loves all things fried…wings, french fries, burgers, corn dogs, etc. I decided to bite the bullet and I’m so glad I did! Be warned… this thing is HUUUGE! Other reviewers said it was big, but I didn’t realize how big it was. Like, it’s bigger than my 6qt InstantPot. Not a problem for me as I have the storage space, but something to consider for those with limited storage and countertop space.

That being said, there are no other negatives. It’s so easy to use, cleans super easy, and food comes out sooo good. So far I’ve made country potatoes and chicken cordon bleu, and my husband raved about how good they were, despite being way lower in fat than how I’ve previously made these dishes. I can’t wait to make wings this weekend! Worth every penny.” – Melody ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

8. Ninja Foodi Indoor Grill

woman holding Ninja foodi indoor grill

After doing extensive research on all the best air fryers, the Ninja Foodi Indoor Grill is the one that ultimately won Sara on our Hip team’s heart. Not only does this 5-in-1 appliance look beautiful sitting on her counter, but this pretty little workhorse can do it all: indoor grilling, searing, dehydrating, roasting, and of course air frying!

Here’s what else you’ll love about it:

  • Heats up almost instantly and uses innovative air circulation to cook food as fast an outdoor grill
  • Transforms foods from frozen to perfectly char-grilled in 25 minutes
  • Features adjustable heating up to 500°
  • Includes a Smoke Control System for virtually smoke-free grilling
  • Cool-touch exterior protects from high heat temperatures
  • Intuitive digital display

Here’s what Sara on our team had to say about her Ninja Foodi Grill:

“The Ninja Foodi Indoor Grill totally knocked it out of the park when it comes to quality craftsmanship and making great food. It will most definitely last for years like my other beloved Ninja appliances. Take a moment to read my detailed review of the Foodi and find out why I can’t stop raving about it!” – Sara ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

9. Cosori Max XL 5.8-Quart Air Fryer

black cosori cooking appliance on kitchen counter

This air fryer is like an entire kitchen in one. With 13 different cooking functions and a 5.8-quart capacity, there’s practically nothing the Cosori Pro XL can’t cook.

Here’s why you’ll love the Cosori Max XL air fryer:

  • Removable fryer baskets are dishwasher-safe and BPA-free
  • 13 cooking functions and 11 different presets
  • Rapid 360° air circulation for even cooking
  • Large temperature range of 170° – 400°

Here’s what one reviewer said about her Cosori Max XL:

“After months of research, I finally decided on this model. I went back and forth between the models with windows vs the basket style like this one. Many helpful reviewers stated how easy it was to clean this unit – I think that’s what finally sealed the deal for me. I just wanted an air fryer that was easy to use and clean – if these factors are also important to you, look no further!

Now let’s talk about what a great cooking job it does. The first meal I prepared was jerk chicken thighs (boneless, skinless). I marinated the meat overnight with jerk seasoning and cooked them in the (pre-heated) air fryer at 400° for 15 minutes. I pulled the tray out after 15 to flip the meat and realized there was no need – they were perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside.

The fryer has a sleek, low-profile design and won’t take up too much room on your countertop (no more than a standard toaster oven). If you’re lucky enough to have lots of cabinet space, it will tuck away nicely.

I am just getting started with this thing but am very happy with my purchase. Happy cooking!” – Susan ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

10. Bella Pro Series 6-Qt Touchscreen Air Fryer

air fryer in box on store shelf

The Bella Pro Series 6-Qt Air Fryer packs a lot of power at a super affordable price! It also has a large basket and cooking capacity without taking up a ton of real estate on your countertop. Reviewers thought this was the perfect budget air fryer that can hold its own against its more expensive counterparts.

Here’s why you’ll love the Bella Pro Series:

  • High-performance circular heat technology
  • Auto shut-off feature
  • 1700 watts for powerful air frying capabilities
  • 90° – 400° temperature range
  • 2-year manufacturer’s warranty

Here’s what one reviewer had to say about their Bella Pro Series:

“The Bella Pro Series exceeded my expectations. I have been able to bake with it, make pizza, French fries, and so many more things. I absolutely love the flexibility and healthier cooking I can now share with my family by eliminating unnecessary oils, without sacrificing the flavor. The Bella Pro Series has so much to offer, I highly recommend this to anyone.” – Dave ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

11. Ninja Foodi SP101 9-in-1 Digital Air Fryer

ninja foodi appliance on countertop

If you want an appliance that can do it all, look no further than the Ninja Foodi SP101! You can bake, broil, fry, reheat, dehydrate, and more with this powerful, 1800-watt air fryer. And one of the best parts is that you get XL air fryer features without having to sacrifice counter space! When it’s not in use, simply flip it on its side and store it against your kitchen backsplash for convenient access.

Here’s why you’ll love the Ninja Foodi SP101:

  • Cool-touch exterior
  • Adjustable browning function
  • Flip-away design for easy storage
  • 60-second preheat
  • Accessible back panel for easy cleanup

Here’s what one buyer had to say about their Ninja Foodi SP101:

“If this item had the ability to give a 10-star review, I would assign it all 10 stars. This is a fantastic air fryer. After doing my research I chose this one primarily because we are a family of 7, so we need the room. I am SO pleased with the results…. and it is super easy to use. As if the results of cooking weren’t enough, the whole unit easily flips up (after cooling..) so that you have access to all of your counter space. I was skeptical at first, wondering about flipping an extra-large air fryer on end… but we easily do it… what a bonus!

Some of our amazement is how delicious things taste, and that might be true for any air fryer… BUT, with the extra-large capacity, I can get everything done in one cycle… and, not heat up the house. Things take far less time too… hash brown patties that take 28 minutes in an oven, are done in 12 minutes on air fry. I cook chicken in the instant pot, then brush with BBQ and finish off under the broiler in the air fryer. The large size basket fits approx 20 legs… delicious!

You can’t go wrong here…. even if you aren’t a large family, you will LOVE the benefits of the Ninja air fryer. We are SO glad that we chose it.” Avery ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I purchased a power air fryer XL from Kohl’s last year. We love it for many reasons but the best thing is that it makes the best chicken nuggets for my kiddos. The only thing that I am sad about is that it decided to break on me before a year ☹️. Besides that it was really a good air fryer

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Sorry to hear it broke! Hoping you can soon score a new replacement! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Lisa!

    • mrsm

Yes. We bought the power xl too and it has recently started having issues with the basket catching. We have to shimmy it around to get it to work, otherwise it won’t even come on. So sad because we loved this air fryer.

    • CJJ

HANDS DOWN this one should be #1:Power XL Air Fryer

I had the “bucket” type of air fryer and loved how it cooked BUT it didn’t fit enough food for my family and so I was cooking in batches. That is when I started researching and yes, I watched the infomercial for this one and loved it. I still looked for the best price and they had it best on the site but I didn’t order it bc the white was out of stock, but I had put the black on in my cart and left my email. I waited for the white and in the interim, they sent me a 25% off coupon so I did get the white and I got the best deal. I read reviews and some people said to get the warranty but I didn’t. I did order the extra parts for it (2 or 3 additional racks, a stand to put a rotisserie chicken on to stand it upright after cooking and something else, but I really wanted it for additional racks. I know the racks can get messy so I wanted extra and I am glad I did. Sometimes I have one waiting to go in so it is perfect to have the extras).

Anyway, I have had mine over 2 yrs and I literally use it Every. Single. Day. Usually multiple times a day. It is big (I bought the 8 qt one) and does take up room but I got rid of my toaster and my toaster oven and only use this. I had gotten my whole kitchen redone the year before and have a gorgeous double convection oven and I STILL use my airfryer more! I love the size of it and that I can take the tray out of the bottom and soak/scrub/dishwash it. I use it maybe one a month for rotisserie chicken but mostly I use it for warming up chicken strips/nuggets/tater tots for my kiddos and also for cooking nearly everything else! It is SOOOO roomy and I can stack things in there (I put 3 full trays of chicken strips/fries/nuggets at one time!) and cook so much at a time, and since the door opens wide, it is easy to access the items and move any I need to. The door comes off for cleaning. If the tray isn’t seated right, it won’t turn on, but it is easily fixed by slightly wiggling it so it is seated correctly. It has a front window so you can always see how things are doing while cooking. Can you tell I love mine??? I can’t recommend it enough!

It is the ONE appliance I could NOT live without!!!! I have a beautiful kitchen-aid stand mixer and every attachment for it, a matching blender etc and yet, the one thing I can’t live without is my Power XL air fryer…and if it did break down, I would by another immediately!

      • Aliese

Hi do you have the Power XL Pro 7 in 1 (taller one) or the Power XL Grill 8 in 1 (more flat shaped like a really big toaster oven)?

        • CJJ

Power XL 8 qt. I got it in March 2018 and I use it every single day (multiple times a day!)

        • CJJ

(Same as link in my first sentence but bigger (8 qt, not 6 qt) )

  2. Samfs2016

I love my Ninja Air fryer and I have got it for $69.99-15% plus $10 kohl’scash.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Great deal!

  3. Lisa

    Power AirFryer XL 5.3 Qt
I purchased two air fryers at the same time a little over one year ago. I gave one to my sister and kept one for myself. I would give it 5 stars. The only con for me is that when it is not in use it still uses electricity, so I keep it on my counter unplugged when not in use. My sister kept hers plugged in at all times. One night it caught fire (it had not been used in days). Luckily they smelled it from their bedroom and there wasn’t any additional damage. I am sure that this is a one off and is very unlikely to happen to many fryers. With that being said, I would strongly suggest that they be kept unplugged when not in use. PS They replaced it with the Power AirFryer Oven and love it just as much!

  4. Kim

I was considering getting the Ninja Foodi 8 in 1 it’s a toaster oven and air fryer + has anyone used this and have their opinion on it?

    • lrferris

I got the Ninja Foodie for Christmas and LOVE it. We use it everyday.

  5. Mary O

Thank you Soo much for this post I have been curious about these air fryers the pros and cons ect Decisions Decisions….

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome! Glad this was helpful!

  6. Carol Jireh

that is the newer version of what I have. I have the 8 qt one I got of theirs two years ago and it is my all time favorite appliance and I use it EVERY DAY – multiple times!!! I couldn’t be happier with it!

    • CJJ

whoops, that was a reply to Gerri about the link of the one her daughter has

  7. Bunny

I purchased this one on a former Hip2Save deal back in February for only $25 (there was a rebate!)

    https://hip2save.com/2020/02/19/cooks-air-fryer-only-24-99-after-rebate-on-jcpenney/

Soooo very happy with it. Plus it will be wonderful when the weather turns hot this summer (I never turn my oven on in hot weather so this will be a huge plus!)

It’s perfect for two people. Also it is much faster than my toaster oven and food tastes better and crispier.

  8. Anna

Does anyone have the recipe for those pickles?! Lol. They look yummy.

  9. Jessie

Has anyone tried the instant pot air fryer lid?

  10. Margaret

I just got the Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360. Haven’t set it up yet (I have an old Gormia one that I am using right now) and wondered if anyone here has had any experience with it and if so what you think about it?

  11. Jhen Briones

I really like my ninja foodi. I’ve had it for almost 2 years now and never had any problem with it.

  12. Jordan

The Instantpot airfryer is definitely the best! I don’t even have a microwave anymore. It does everthing!

  13. Hipgrandma

We have the Bella 6 qt. Use it multiple times a week. We love it. Easy to use and clean. If grease gets built up a baking soda paste cleans it right off. Very affordable. We prefer the basket type fryer.

  14. Materof6

Thank you SO MUCH for posting!!!! I’ve been in the market for awhile, but we have a large family (10, to be exact, when baby #8 comes in December!). Which one is recommended for a crew like ours? I would rather not do 2-3 batches of fries if I can help it! Lol!

  15. Suzanne H

#11 should be #1 on this list!!!! It is the best. I love it so much, I bought a 2nd one! I bought a traditional style air fryer several years back and HATED it. It took so long to cook enough food for everyone. I did a ton of research and decided on the Ninja. We use it almost every day especially this summer. We are able to bake, air fry, roast, etc. without heating up the house! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.
