Despite saving a ton with all the cool discounts and coupons we have here on Hip2Save, I do have one big expense that I can’t seem to get around: gas.
You’d be shocked how many miles I manage to put on my car despite working from home. 😅
However, I’ve started using the BPme app to get $0.05 off per gallon, and those savings add up when you fill up regularly like me!
Even better, for a limited time, when you sign up for a new BPme Rewards Account you can score a whopping 40¢ off per gallon on your first fill-up when you use promo code SAVE40 at checkout. Once you’ve signed up for the offer, the discount will automatically be added to your rewards account within 24 hours!
Note that you will need to verify your email and phone number to score the discount, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for the emails to verify.
Check out why we love the BPme app!
My friends and I love spending time outside when we’re not working, and since I have a roomy SUV, my car tends to be the go-to vehicle for all of our outdoor adventures, road trips, and camping excursions.
I love my Xterra, but unfortunately, it’s not the most efficient when it comes to fuel–I only get about 22mpg on the highway. Plus, I frequently have to use 4WD in colder months which causes me to get even fewer miles per gallon. ☹️
Aside from buying a new car, there’s not much I can do to increase my efficiency. What I can do is save money wherever possible, and using the BPme Rewards program is one of the easiest ways to do so!
To get the $0.05 off per gallon, all you need to do is spend $100 per month, which has (sadly for my wallet 🥲) been really easy for me to do.
Pssssst! There are a few ways to reduce your overall gas use. BP has a great list of tips you can follow to both improve your gas mileage and stay safe!
I also stick with the BPme app because I know it’ll be available wherever I go.
With over 7,000 locations in the US, chances are I’ll be able to refuel at a BP gas station even when I’m traveling off the beaten path.
I’m frequently searching out the best, most affordable camping spots, and sometimes those are a little out of the way or in rural areas. Still, I haven’t had trouble finding a BP yet.
And I love how easy the app is to use!
To be perfectly honest, the BPme app isn’t the first gas-savings app I’ve used, but it’s the only one that’s standing the test of time.
I stopped using some of the other ones I downloaded because I didn’t find them as helpful. The amount of money I saved (or the amount of cash back I got) often just wasn’t worth the effort it took to drive out of my way to specific gas stations, fiddle around with complicated settings, or follow a very specific set of directions which wouldn’t always result in the discount I wanted. 😔
With the BPme app, all I have to do is pull in, prepay for gas via the app, and fuel up. That’s it! It’s refreshingly simple and honestly more convenient than using no app at all.
Speaking of prepaying from your car…
Maybe I’m behind the times, but this is the first app I’ve used where I can just confirm my location, enter the pump number, and have it automatically unlock without having to touch the pump. That’s a feature I haven’t seen on third-party gas savings apps, so I was amazed the first time I tried it! (It’s the little things. 🤣)
Somehow, it always seems to get instantly colder and windier whenever I need to stand outside to get gas 😜, so I’m loving the ability to stay warm and cozy in my car without having to mess around with finding my credit card and wait for all the payment prompts.
All you have to do is add your card info to the app and you can use the feature whenever you want! Getting this BP gas discount has never been easier…
I love scoring some savings on gas, but there are plenty of other perks to using the BPme app.
It’s the most convenient way to price match, pay for gas, track your receipts, get exclusive rewards, and stay in the loop on all the latest BP offers.
I can also tell you from experience that it’s one of the easiest-to-use gas savings apps around, and I’ve (almost) tried ’em all so that’s saying something! 😆

I love this app! I use it exclusively for my gas. The best thing is I have the Sam’s club credit card linked to it so I also get 5% cash back on the gas! Double the pleasure!!
That is super smart!
The best thing about the Sam’s card is that it saves you 5% off of each $1 and not just each gallon! That is a major savings. The money back is applied to Sam’s Club, but still it is free money.
Thank you! I’ll be using this. As I drive over 135 miles round trip to work 4 days a week. I spent roughly $400 each month for April and May so far just on gas. 😓
You’re so welcome! Glad this will help! 🤗
Gas Buddy locates cheapest places for gas in your area, so it’s not really out of the way. Why stick with a more expensive gas station to begin with, for just 5cents saving (except for your first fill up)? These days Gas Buddy shows stations with wildly varying prices. On a recent camping trip, we saved $0.20/gallon over Costco prices by just making a short detour to a cheaper station. And then we used the Costco visa card to pay for it, saving the 3 or 4% off that gives.
Thanks so much for letting us know how you’ve been able to save on gas! 💖🙌
I like the Upside app. Several of my local stations participate, and there are no BP stations near me. And if I fill up at a participating Casey’s, I can get cash back with Upside plus my Casey’s rewards!
I use Checkout51 app for groceries and gas. I don’t have any BP stations near me but Checkout51 looks for Exxon, Shell, Phillips, Sudden service gas stations which is a local gas station. I also use Upside app too as most of the gas stations are the same for both apps.
Checkout51 uses Get Upside to manage their gas portion. Both have a faq on their sites about this and state can’t receive credit for one transaction from both apps.
Brandi mentioned that you can price match in the article. Does anyone know how you do that?
Great question! I did find this when searching through – “Price Match is the latest offer available in the BPme app, making it easy to pay, view receipts, track BPme Rewards and more without leaving the driver’s seat.” You can find more on that over here.
Upside is a good gas and other savings app
