What is “Clear the List”? It’s a nationwide movement to support teachers by purchasing items for their school supply lists.

School will be back in session soon (some districts start in just a couple of weeks!) and teachers are already working hard to prepare their classrooms for the new 2024-2025 school year. This includes stocking up on school supplies for their students!

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pockets? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and many school districts and families are struggling. This leaves many teachers to pay for school supplies themselves.

Teachers always go the extra mile for their students, so let’s show them how much we appreciate them by giving back and helping to fulfill their supply lists!

You can help by donating items from teachers’ Amazon shopping lists!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list, and then share their lists publicly. Anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list, and after donating, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Even better, if you post your list on social media and tag Amazon with #clearthelist, you may find that your list is cleared BY Amazon! So cool!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu and name your list.
  • Hover over the three dots More menu on the right, and click Manage List to update your shipping address (this is important!) and other preferences like whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse for products on Amazon and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

If you’re a teacher, be sure to share your teacher list in the comments below so that readers can help clear the list! 🙌

First year teacher teaching Middle School Science! I’m extra excited because I get to teach in the same classroom I attended middle science in. I’m hoping to update the look of it though since it looks a lot like it did when I was a kid in the 90s!

I’m a first year teacher at a Title 1 school in North Carolina! I was originally preparing to be an English teacher, but got moved to Math at the last minute and am trying to switch directions from the things I had already purchased in preparation. As a first year teacher, I don’t have much in my arsenal yet for creating a space for my students from scratch. My list is extensive but anything helps!! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/19WOWDJGE4HXW?ref_=wl_share

New classroom. New course. Same goals: create a classroom environment where the students know they can thrive in math.

Looking ahead to next school year, seems like I’ll be diving in further to helping close the math gap at our school; specifically focusing on supporting our students that a significantly behind grade level. In looking to be able to do this, I’m hoping to create a comforting and engaging classroom where I can meet the students where they are at and help bring them closer to where they ideally should be. In order to do this to the best of my ability, there are some additional resources, for books to lights to manipulatives, that would great to support myself and my students. If you would consider donating to my classroom or sharing this link to encourage others to support that would be amazing! My students and myself would greatly appreciate it!

Please note that throughout the summer you’ll see several teachers sharing Donors Choose or Amazon Wishlists. Even if you are unable to donate, just the simple act of sharing our posts in your communities can help. All of us are working to create safe and inclusive learning environments for our students and every little bit of support helps.
