Here’s How One Reader is Giving Back to Delivery Drivers During Coronavirus Pandemic
What a great way to give back!
Delivery drivers are an important part of making online shopping easy for everyone and they definitely deserve our appreciation every day, but especially in times like these! ❤️ Hip2Save reader Jhin came up with a simple way to thank the many drivers who are delivering packages during these tough times.
On a side note, we created this free printable that you can also use to thank your delivery drivers. 🤗
With the Coronavirus pandemic all around, we are all trying to stay strong as a community. I have been moved by so many awesome posts of generous people helping total strangers.
I have been taking advantage of all the free shipping deals and my thoughts are always with the mail carriers who are working relentlessly during this tough time. They may not have easy access to food, water, or restrooms like they normally do. Today I made a package with dry pantry goods for them and I have left it at my doorstep. I plan on replenishing it as long as I am able to.
Thank you to all you awesome delivery drivers!
And thank you, Jhin, for sharing your idea with us! I’m sure the UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other personnel drivers who deliver your packages are overwhelmed by your kindness. ❤️

This is awesome! I love how everyone is coming together through this extremely tough time… For the most part…
I’m afraid my neighbors (Kids) would take anything I put out.
I’ve been putting a box out with bottled water and snacks and I love the delivery drivers reactions. One of them skipped back to the truck! 😁
My poor mailman was on Facebook asking where to find Hand sanitizer he happens to be my neighbor As well. I keep that stocked year round because I’m a germaphobe he was thrilled when I gave it to him sad that things like that are so hard to find because of this pandemic
I gave ours a bottle and he almost cried! I told him if I come across extra I’ll leave him another bottle. I definitely have learned areas I need to keep stock during this pandemic!!
This is awesome! I love it! 😍 let’s continue to help and support one an other as a community.
So I do this every Christmas and love showing others appreciation, but I can’t help but think of all the different hands reaching into the basket 🦠 Maybe if there is a bottle of hand sanitizer next to the basket or anyone have other ideas??
I am thinking of making little goodie bags of snacks so they can just grab and go!
My husband delivers for starbucks and I feel like no one appreciates these drivers everyone likes starbucks but not the delivery drivers he delivers all night rain or shine just so everyone could have coffee the next morning or day all I ask is if you see these drivers be courteous of them and appreciate all the work they do…thank you
I started this last summer when it was so Hot and have continued to do it. All of my delivery personnel absolutely love it. My son happens to be a UPS driver and drivers are always telling him, “I hope I deliver to your parents house today, they always have awesome stuff for us”. If that isn’t gratitude enough!!!!!
❤️❤️❤️
I started doing this too, but I put everything in ziplocs so they can just grab a bag. The most popular item so far, though, hasn’t been the snacks, but the handsewn masks I made. I put each mask in a Ziploc to keep them clean. If you have the supplies and sewing skills, those masks seem to be something they need (I used the Hobby Lobby pattern.) Our county just passed an order that everyone must wear a face covering out of the house, so I figure even if they don’t need one, they may have a family member or friend who needs one.
Yes, this would be great. My husband is a UPS driver and they have yet to provide him a mask. Thank you for doing this
Love the mask idea! Keep up the great work! 🤩
Love this!!! ❤️
I’ve been doing this for a few weeks. I also have a tub of wipes out there so they can also wipe down anything (if they want to) I am SO APPRECIATIVE of all they do and hope that it may help a little to boost their spirits.
I understand bottles of water, juice, chips, cookies & crackers. Buuuut a can of baked beans or mac and cheese. Personally that’s strange. I would immediately think someone was trying to get rid of old expired food or something. I would appreciate to no extent the care and concern with typical snacks but again, random pantry food is very odd 🤔
My husband is a UPS driver. They cant wear masks (not part of their official uniform) and hand sanitizer is in short supply. They aren’t supplied with wipes or anything to wipe down their trucks. He is working longer hours then usual. Worried about the consequences of not having proper protection…but I send him with what I can to help keep his truck sanitized. I do know drivers are very appreciative of the efforts people put in to thank them for what they do. Showing gratitude is always a win!
My husband is a UPS driver and his supervisors had mask for them. I don’t think this would be held against them during these times.
I think this is a great idea to do throughout the year to show appreciation, but during this time with a pandemic, I would be more paranoid about accepting snacks or foods from unknown sources. The coronavirus can live for several hours to days on a surface. Like someone else mentioned, you don’t know how many other hands touched the items you’re about to pick up. I think bottles of hand sanitizer, wipes or masks placed in ziplock bags would be a safer option and more appreciated by delivery drivers during a time like this.
Can we also all do our part and refrain from ordering anything other than necessary supplies (we can probably wait on that pair of shoes or new set of sheets) so that we aren’t adding to delivery drivers’ risk?
Yes, thank you. THIS!!!
That would lead to layoffs for companies and drivers…
My husband is a UPS driver. He comes home everyday to a pregnant wife and a 1 year old daughter with breathing issues. I’m terrified of him bringing it home with him, but we don’t really have much of a choice at the moment. Please, like someone else said, if it isn’t a necessity, please don’t do extra ordering during this time.
I love this, and it inspired me to make a little give-away basket for my mail carriers as well. I usually do this during the holidays, but now is a crucial time, and we depend on all delivery people more than ever! Even if it’s just a little token gesture, it can make a huge difference to someone.
