🙁 Great, i just signed up for Target Red Card just last week. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the actual card in the mail? i haven’t got mine yet. When i signed up in store, the cashier gave me a receipt to use as my card temporarily until i get my card via mail.

I signed up for a Redcard debit card. It says its being reviewed. Is that normal?

Months ago when I signed up online for target debit, the application form immediately declined me. I’m thinking it was a glitch in the system, but I didn’t retry submitting. I also don’t have any target cards. I just took it as a sign to not own one.

I was just told it would take two weeks too! I’m so annoyed! I applied for the debit card. I don’t have a Target near me so I shop there rarely.

    • Natasha

My application said it would email me with further steps if approved, and to expect to check my bank account for small deposits in 3-5. Does that mean it was approved pending I get the deposit amounts accurate or that it’s still up the air? Hmmmm Sounds like others was more immediate. Perhaps it’s because I have a local/small community bank.

I just signed up for one 2 days ago!!! UGHHH!

  4. Andrea Lunde

Sweet deal! I have been putting off signing up and it took only about 10 minutes and got my redcard number to use today!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Woohoo! Happy shopping!

  5. Mendy

Just to see if I am correct. So the debit card is like PayPal, you connect it to your current bank and when you make a purchase it is withdrawn through your bank, right?

    • hip2trade

Yes. It seems to take a few days to come out of the bank, at least for me.

      • Mendy

        Ok got it, 😊 thx.

  6. dealba2008

Is it normal to say it’s being reviewed and I’ll receive the answer in the mail???

  7. Kate1910

Just signed up for a debit card. Score!!!

    • LaToya

I’ve been hesitant … but like the debit card option … so I just signed up too. We’ll see how long it all takes to happen …

  8. Ann

Does anyone know how long the coupon is good for?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! The coupon will be valid through January 18th.

  9. HY

Do you know if the $40 coupon can be applied to Lego set? Thank you!

    • Shirley Yeo

Lots of exclusions – pls read fine print – as well as any partners who sell on Target online

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! I do find LEGO listed as an exclusion in the fine print. Hope that helps!

      • HY

        Thank you so much!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re very welcome!

  10. LK

Does anyone know if Target will be discounting their gift cards this year? Not sure if I missed a post about it. Thanks!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

We haven’t heard anything about that this year, LK!

      • LK

Nooooooooooo!!!!!! BTW – thanks so much for all that you do. I ONLY shop using hip2save!

    • Ann

On Dec. 8, 10% off Target gift cards. Can be used starting Dec. 9 at 10am CT.

  11. Dianne

I was going to do this but they require my social security number. I refuse to give out that number unless it is absolutely necessary. Not even at the doctors office. Target and other sites are often hacked.

  12. Tia

Signed up for the debit card option and received my confirmation email, but no coupon yet. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the coupon?

    • l gagnon

It says the coupon gets mailed out with your red card.

  13. Neebeecouponer

I applied and got approved on nov 27th. Didn’t know target runs these promos. Was there any offer for last week? TIA

  14. Mary

I keep seeing these red card sign up promotions and still holding off. Is this a good one or have there been better?

  15. LaMerle Hubbard

I started to sign up for the debit card option until I got to the second page and it ask for date of birth, social security number, drivers license number in addition to bank account info and basic address and phone number. There is absolutely no reason for Target to need my SS# and DL# when the card is already linked to my bank account. They have no reason to run a credit check if I’m not applying for a credit card so therefore they do not need all of my personal info. There are too many risks of being hacked and that info being stolen. I don’t need their card or their discount that badly, it’s not worth the risks.

    • joshuayismarysantana

I felt the same way. 😔

      • mari

me too. I wouldve like the debit card option but needing the SSN was a red flag for me. All the time, several big stores and credit card companies have issues with being hacked and what not. I dont want my info to be compromised by a ‘glitch’

    • Jessica

And I think it is okay to feel the way you do. Some people are comfortable giving that information out and some people are not. Heck, banks these days are running credit checks to open accounts. I’m just a true believer in “If someone wants your information badly enough, they will get it by any means necessary no matter how careful you are.”

On a side note, THANK YOU Collin and Crew for always bringing us great deals! :O)

    • Positivenyone

      Smart assessment!

    • shop4mybabies

there isn’t a bank on the planet that would give you an account/debit card without all of that information

    • Dana W.

Thank you for pointing out the possible pitfalls. I was excited to read about this promo till I read the fine print. same reason I don’t use an app on my phone to pay for stuff, fear of identity theft/being hacked. I’m trying to live a simpler life and downsize – I like Target but seldom shop there anymore. I think having this would encourage buying (the goal, I’m sure). If some people think this works for them since it’s right before Xmas then go for it.

  16. Jessica

Can this be combined with the 20% off coupon I got on Black Friday?

  17. Kim Palmer

is this promotion only available to new customers? i already have a card…

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes. It is valid for new cardholders, that are approved for a debit or credit RedCard. Hope that helps!

  18. Heather Haney

Signed up! The extra $40 will really help with Christmas shopping!
