Milestone ornaments at a markdown!

With so many occasions to celebrate from births to weddings, year-specific ornaments have become a way to document a staple in time that’s worth remembering every holiday season, but have you ever thought about waiting until after Christmas to buy that 2021 ornament? That’s what this week’s Happy Friday reader, Amanda, has done, and she’s saved tons!

It may be after Christmas, but it’s still the same year! Even if it’s not, the point of these ornaments isn’t to purchase them on time; it’s to remember why each year was so special to you and your family! 😍

I know many people probably make their after-Christmas List for Amazon & Target (advent calendars, gift wrap sets, etc) but last year I had a “brain spark” (Abby Hatcher reference). We had our second son in 2019. In true form, the youngest did not receive nearly as many “my first” or birth year trinkets/momentous the first kiddo received.

So, instead of spending Hallmark prices for the “My First Christmas 2019” ornaments, I put all of the ornaments I liked in my online basket, woke up early on the 26th (like that was hard with a baby), and pressed buy!

I saved myself over $50 (that’s at least 2 big boxes of diapers with coupons)! And when the baby grows up, he won’t know. I wish I would have done this for big brother. I wanted to share this in case another person will be in the same boat. (I also check the clearance area in the store for 2014 ornaments for big brother- scored one this year for $3).

Thank you, Amanda, for this awesome hip tip! These post-Christmas markdowns are something we all take advantage of in one way or another, and year-specific ornaments are probably some of the best-valued purchases.

When you’re pursuing Christmas clearance, don’t forget that Valentine’s Day and Easter are coming up. Advent calendar items, small toys from the stocking stuffer section and even some stuffed animals fit those holidays as well.
This seems like a pretty good deal on Easter egg fillers, after the $2 coupon.
