A few Hip2Save team members use Walmart plus and they love it…

I have Walmart+ and LOVE it. I get all of my groceries delivered to my home multiple times a month. I can even get small orders of $35+ delivered. ALSO, I use it to deliver some groceries to my son from a Walmart near his college in another state. It’s a game-changer! – Michelle

I’ve used this SO many times during the pandemic for pretty much weekly grocery deliveries. I’ve also used it to send groceries to others. When I have to go in the store, I use the Scan and Go feature. You can scan your purchases, go to self-checkout, scan the code on the app, and you’re done! Love, love, LOVE this service – it’s well worth the $98 a year! – Paige

I’ve had a Walmart Grocery Unlimited membership since March, and it automatically rolled over to Walmart+ when the program launched in September. I get groceries delivered once or twice a week, so my membership has paid for itself many times over. In fact, my Walmart+ account tracks how much time and money my membership is saving me, and I’ve saved $447 in grocery delivery fees and fuel discounts in about 8 months! Best of all, I haven’t had to go inside a Walmart since March, which has saved me an estimated 45 hours of time! I will DEFINITELY be renewing this membership when it expires! 🙌 – Jenna

Hip2Save readers love it too…

I purchased the service in July. Having groceries delivered to my door is worth every penny. With the new free shipping added on I Love it even more. I have amazon prime too but they don’t deliver groceries in my area.

If you aren’t a Sam’s Club Member you can use their pumps with this membership without having a Sam’s Club Membership! I love this perk because the Sam’s Club is closer to me than the Walmart gas station.

This is a racket in my opinion. People don’t realize that you are expected to TIP THE DRIVERS! They use companies like door dash. I signed up, got a 30 day free trial then canceled once I realized that I would be paying a $10-$20 tip EVERY WEEK for the groceries of my large family orders. This does NOT RIVAL PRIME in my opinion.

I wondered this on the tipping. Doesn’t seem as amazing knowing you need to tip each time you use it as a home delivery service.

    • CJ

I totally agree. They don’t say that when you sign up (which I just did). I placed my first order and when I went to pay for it, they had added $10 on to it. I live 1 mile from walmart, so I just switched it over to free pickup and drove up and got it. I order about every other week, which would be about $250 in tips or so, which when added to my annual fee would be way more than I want to pay, so I am canceling before my free month expires!

      • Tricia

I don’t tip every order. If I can’t, I don’t. Tipping is not mandatory and if they add it to the total you can just take it out by adding $0 in the tip spot. I already pay for the service so I’m not paying more than that if I can’t. Now if if it is really large order and I can tip I do which is maybe 40% of my orders. You can also hand them a few singles. They have never looked annoyed for not getting a tip or for getting a small tip.

Also, be sure to check delivery area for grocery delivery. When I went to sign up it said grocery delivery wasn’t available in my area at this time. So without that it’s really not a good deal.

  3. Amanda

I signed up and ordered delivery twice and both times my order was never delivered. The store didn’t seem to care when I called to check on the order and they couldn’t confirm that my order would even be delivered . Super unreliable, so I canceled, seemed to good to be true and it was 😔

I’m not sure I would try this based on the multiple issues I’ve had with their grocery pick up service. And I agree they don’t really care when there are issues. I’ve waited over 40 minutes on multiple occasions. They never have enough people working and the lot is full of people trying to pickup. So if doordash is the delivery service and they’re waiting for pickup I can see issues with the timing. Sounds too good to be true IMO.

Ooh, that’s a good point about DoorDash. I was considering this only because the pickup at my Walmart has become so backed up, but I’m in and out of my house all day and I can’t deal with late deliveries, either.

  5. Jules

I signed up for this awhile ago. Love the free delivery and the fuel savings I get. Where I live, we don’t have a lot of other options for delivery, so maybe I’m a bigger fan of this that others who have more to choose from. I’ve always received my delivery orders quickly and accurately and it’s been super handy to have this option given the ongoing pandemic.

I’ve had this for a month and a half. I wasn’t going to comment, but it seems people have had a different experience than me! I have loved it! As with grocery pickup, if there are any issues, you can let walmart know thru the app and it’s taken care of promptly. Yeah, occasionally I’ll get a subbed item I don’t want, but as long as you let them know within a certain timeframe, they won’t send those substituted items with your delivery order. Yes, you need to top, but I see it as premium to instacart — the grocery prices you pay are the same as in store pricing, whereas instacart marks everything up plus you have to tip.
Leading up to Christmas, I had ordered a handful of items from walmart.com with free shipping, because of walmart+. Instead of shipping some of the items, the walmart nearest to where the items were to be shipped had the items in stock, fulfilled the order, and a doordash or other delivery driver dropped the items on their front porch, less than 24 hours from when my order was placed. These were items that I wasn’t expecting to arrive until after Christmas, but were delivered on Christmas Eve.
Was impressed that they had put the items in a discreet bag, as I had marked the items as being gifts.

    • JODI P

Walmart grocery now lets you choose what items you want for a substitute.

  7. Tricia

I’ve loved having grocery delivery since April. The only problems I have had is a handful of times when an item is damaged or missing but if that happens it is really easy to get a refund. Once or twice they got backed up and my order didn’t come until the next day but that is mainly during the busy holidays. The delivery people are nice and it is so convenient and saves time and money on gas not having to go out and shop. The $35 minimum order is nice too since most people spend way more than that on groceries.
