A few Hip2Save team members use Walmart plus and they love it…

I first got this while on vacation with my 4 youngest kiddos. I was working during the vaca, so I needed a way to get supplies to the VRBO while I was working. I decided to sign up, and our order was delivered within an hour! It was so awesome! I didn’t have to Doordash during vacation which saved me so much money! And, I didn’t have to worry about making a grocery run during vacation. Another win! I ended up keeping it, and I can’t even tell you how much I love it. Scan & go is amazing – just scan your stuff as you add it to your cart in-store, then scan your phone at checkout to pay. It is SO easy. Plus, I love being able to order our essentials like milk, bread, etc, and it gets delivered to our doorstep. Delivery is free, and since I am a bit more rural, the tip I give to the driver is not much different than what I’d spend on gas!

I’ve had a Walmart Grocery Unlimited membership since March, and it automatically rolled over to Walmart+ when the program launched in September. I get groceries delivered once or twice a week, so my membership has paid for itself many times over. In fact, my Walmart+ account tracks how much time and money my membership is saving me, and I’ve saved $447 in grocery delivery fees and fuel discounts in about 8 months! Best of all, I haven’t had to go inside a Walmart since March, which has saved me an estimated 45 hours of time! I will DEFINITELY be renewing this membership when it expires! 🙌 – Jenna

Hip2Save readers love it too…

I purchased the service in July. Having groceries delivered to my door is worth every penny. With the new free shipping added on I Love it even more. I have amazon prime too but they don’t deliver groceries in my area.

If you aren’t a Sam’s Club Member you can use their pumps with this membership without having a Sam’s Club Membership! I love this perk because Sam’s Club is closer to me than the Walmart gas station.

  1. Tammy Jo

I got Walmart plus because there is Walmart delivery where my 83 year old mother lives in Indiana. It is not offered where I live in Florida go figure . As long as I can have groceries delivered to my mom well worth it to me !

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

This was a huge no for me from the start, but then I went on vacation alone with 4 of my kids. We needed dinner and snacks at our first vacation rental, but I was already working my Hip shift so I couldn’t go anywhere. I decided to give it a whirl. They delivered so fast, like within the hour. I ended up saving money because I didn’t have to order restaurant food for multiple meals. Fast forward 6 months, and I am still using it. I went from a nay-sayer to a “this is totally awesome”. I love being able to order milk and all the staples and just having it sitting at my doorstep when I wake up at 7 AM. They always get my order right, and I find the earlier I order in the morning, the less subs I get. Plus, the tip for the driver is seriously about the same as what I’d pay for gas to and fro.

So I am right there with ya, Tammy Jo. It has been well worth it to me!

      • Cici

So I know it says grocery delivery, but is it really just groceries? For instance while on your vacation, you wanted groceries delivered but then you realized that you forgot to pack sunscreen and your charger. Do you know if you can order other Walmart items for delivery as well? Thanks!

        • Carole

Most things in store can be delivered

        • Stacy

They deliver tons of stuff, yes! So you could totally order sunscreen, etc!

  2. acgold

How do you use Walmart+ at Sam’s Club for gas? I am not a Sam’s member as there are none near us in NYC. IT is good to know when we travel.

    • Peaches

I don’t think you can use Walmart+ at Sam’s Club for gasoline. you have to use your Sam’s Club card to buy gas there.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You have to have your Walmart Pay account set up with a credit card on file. In your Walmart app, you’ll click on the Services icon, then click Walmart Pay, and scan the QR code showing on the pump screen. They have a cute little video here: https://www.walmart.com/plus/fuel-discounts

  3. JennD

For the Amex deal, does it show up as a “refund/credit” line on the statement, when the billing cycle ends? Or like a refund soon after the monthly fee is charged? (We’re new to Amex)

    • JennD

I should add i can’t get the terms link to open, so it may be in there.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Usually, these offers will show up as a credit on your statement when billing cycle ends.

  4. Amber (Hip Sidekick)

    Yay!🙌 🎉I’m so glad. You’re very welcome! 🤗

  5. Thelyddiekay

I will say, a few months ago I got the free 30 day trial and near the end I went to cancel and they offered me another 2 weeks free! Good luck!

  6. **Lisa**

I started with the free trial. Liked it so much I went with the yearly fee. About a week after I did that, I received an email saying they are adding 6 months for free. I love having free shipping and the $35 minimum for home delivery is easy for me to get to. I’m using this service more and more. My last pick-up order at the Frys I’ve been going to for 20 years shorted me 17 of the 28 items in my order. So far, in about 3 months time, Walmart has only shorted me 3 items out of MANY orders. And the best part…. the savings! I have 5 staple items that I buy weekly and each of them is $1 to $2 cheaper at Walmart. Same exact item! Brand, size, flavor, etc. Come summer, I’m really going to love this service. No more going out for groceries in 120 degrees!

  7. Amber (Hip Sidekick)

    Yay! You’re very welcome, Jeanette!

  8. TN

I just signed up for the 90 day trial. Just wondering if we are expected to tip the delivery driver or if they just drop the groceries off at the door and then leave like they do with package deliveries or how it works? I have no problem tipping if that’s expected or they give me the items at the door, but I just don’t really know how the grocery delivery works for Walmart. Thanks!

    • Julie A

I always leave the tip after the delivery, there’s a place to do it in the app. I want to make sure the delivery is okay before I tip.

    • Cici

I hadn’t even considered tipping until recently, and I’m not sure why I never thought about it. I was planning on trying this service for my parents to help them out financially, but I don’t want them to have to worry about a tip. I’m glad there is a place to add one on the app! Just curious, how much does everyone tip?

  9. C

I have never used Scan and Go anywhere. For those that use it, do you just bring your own bags and pack things up as you go?

    • Liza (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there, C! I use the Scan & Go perk of my Walmart+ membership every time I go to Walmart! Our state requires you to bring your own bags, anyway, so I was already in that habit. I just stand up my reusable bags in the cart, scan the item, and drop it in as I shop. Then when you checkout, you just scan the QR code on the screen and you’re all set! It’s so very convenient for me. Hope that helps!

  10. Julie A

I signed up for this because of the Rx discounts. My monthly eyedrops are about $10 cheaper and my diabetes drugs ended up being FREE altogether, so I think it’s going to pay for itself!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That’s wonderful to hear, Julie A! Thanks for letting us know what savings you’ve been able to snag! ❤️🙌

  11. Jess

My state requires you to pay almost ten cents per bag… there’s probably no way to use reusable bags when doing the deliveries? When I’ve done the pick ups they fill the bags like half way and I am paying way more for bags especially with how many I need to get.

  12. Missy

Anyone know why I’m getting this message when I try to sign up?

It looks like you’re not eligible for this promotion
You can still sign up for Walmart+ and enjoy benefits like free shipping with no order minimum.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Good question, Missy! So sorry for the confusion.❤️ Maybe try reaching out to customer service to look into that for you. I don’t find specific limitations listed in the details on who may not qualify. You can chat with them online over here.

      • jeangirl

I just got the same message as Missy. So I’m going to chat with Walmart and see what happens:)

        • jeangirl

Just got off with Walmart chat, not very helpful. They said Thank you for confirming that however we don’t have that kind of promotion but we have a promotion last June 2 – June 5, 2022 for the first time member of Walmart to have a $20 promo code.???

          • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How strange! Thanks so much for the update. 🤗SO sorry for the confusion on this.❤️ I still find the offer active with the details listing 7/24/2022 as the end date. I wonder if a different representative might have more information and be able to help further. Maybe share the offer link with them as well. Hoping that might do the trick! 🤞💕

          • Missy

Chat sounded very positive and reassuring that I will get the promotion after I sign up. And since I am still on the trial period, I’m assuming that I will get the promotion after I actually pay for the annual. So that’s what I’m banking on.

    • Keith

      Did you get it fixed?

    • Debbi

I am getting the same message

  13. Jenn

Does the code come right away or later one? I just signed up and got the welcome email but no code in it.

    • Eden (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Did you make sure to sign up as a paid member and not join with a free trial, Jenn? If you still haven’t received your code in your inbox, we recommend contacting customer service. Good luck! ❤️🤞🏼

  14. Di

If you’re joining to get groceries, I would highly recommend searching for items you would like to buy on their website before joining. When I had the trial a couple months ago, the groceries I would want to buy, like fresh produce, etc. were basically all out of stock. I did enjoy items being dropped at the door the next morning (other than groceries), so I decided to check their website again because I considered joining (with the gas prices this high). Once again, basically everything is out of stock with groceries, and it seems like they will always be. Maybe your Walmart location will have things stocked, but wanted to give a heads up before people joined. I really enjoyed the trial I had a couple months ago though! I wish I could have ordered groceries!

  15. Keith

“It looks like you’re not eligible for this promotion
You can still sign up for Walmart+ and enjoy benefits like free shipping with no order minimum.”
I got this msg also. Chat told me to signup to a trial period and then signup for the membership and I should get the promotion. Has anyone tried it that way?

    • Missy

Chat sounded very positive and reassuring that I will get the promotion after I sign up.

And since I am still on the trial period, I’m assuming that I will get the promotion after I actually pay for the annual. So that’s what I’m banking on.

    • Gina

I had the same message appear. Chat/customer service said there is no promotion like this currently going on 🤷‍♀️

  16. Jennifer Niittula

I’m having difficulty signing up for the annual promotion 50 dollar credit, is this still a valid promotion?

    • Gina

In an email exchange I had with Walmart service this morning this is the answer I got…

I would like to inform you that this offer is for those customer only, who joined Walmart+ membership in between 05/18/2022 to 06/05/2022 on annual billing cycle.
