Are you eager to see Part 3 of my 3 part video series that highlights phone calls I made to Walgreens stores across the country?! Well, first, if you haven’t already, make sure to check out Part 1 and Part 2. I ended the video yesterday in the middle of a oh so helpful conversation šŸ˜‰ with a Walgreen’s customer service rep at the corporate level. Today’s video will highlight the remainder of this interesting phone call! Enjoy!

**If you can’t see the video, then go here to watch it.

*Please note that I contacted Walgreens managers in the following 4 states: Idaho, North Carolina, Missouri and Texas; and I called the Walgreens Corporate Customer Service Center in Alabama. Because these states only require one party consent to record a telephone conversation, I was able to record these phone calls legally! šŸ™‚

This is EXACTLY why I don’t shop at Walgreens! It’s always so frusterating and just not worth it for me. CVS and Rite aid are my fav

The person you spoke to at Walgreens had no knowledge of Walgreens policy. She was just trying to please you. She should have directed you to a knowledgeable person that truly knew the policy.

Wow. Talk about inconsistency. While I will post Walgreen’s deals, because they are beneficial to many people, however, WAGS is just not for me. My fave store is CVS, and second fave is Rite Aid (although I only really like the SCR deals). Thank you for sharing this with us all!

I have had a lot of issues at Walgreens and have not shopped there now for about 1 month. I have been treated rudely when checking out and even followed through the store, as have 2 of my friends, by one of the employees at our local Walgreens. My husband ended up having a one on one with the head manager and letting him know that his actions and his employees actions have been misguided. I hope for the sake of Walgreens that they get a policy that all their managers will abide by. I think it would actually reduce stress on their managers, if they didn’t have to make all those decisions on their own and have to worry about frustrated customers!

They followed you through the store??? That’s absolutely absurd! I have the same issues at Walgreens, but they usually only act like I’m stealing stuff when I check out. I haven’t shopped at Walgreens in a couple of months for the same reason.

Is there a contact email to Walgreen’s corporate that we can all send complaints to? I see all the posts here – I’m sure there are many more with the same issues. If everyone emailed the “head do-dah” at Walgreen’s, it might get some attention and MAYBE they would change their policy (or at least create a consistent one!)

That was very entertaining. Walgreens is a hot mess – and that’s why I don’t shop there. Get it together Wags!

I SHOP and LOVE Walgreens. MY husband is a manager at a walgreens and even before he started working there i had not one problem with them, I love the fact that they are so helpful and willing to be there for you. I love the fact that they put all there marked down items in the back so I know where to go!

If Walgreen’s was *really* smart, they would have the VP of Marketing on the phone to you TODAY.

be glad t share my experiences

  12. Joanna

My experience is that the managers just make up whatever rules they want on coupons

    • Sherry

      exactly…

It’s because they just plain don’t know. That’s why it’s different every store and every cashier and every manager you talk to; it’s a different story of why this can’t be done or why things won’t work.

Wow, that is sad. I really do wish they would set a policy up that all the stores followed. It’s such a mess. Not only that, but it’s embarassing for the customers to have to face “rejection” from the cashier in front of other customers for something that they are allowed to do at another Walgreens one block away and most of the other stores in town. Customers should be able to walk into the store with confidence because they know what to expect.

The Walgreens where I shop in Kentucky has always been helpful and I haven’t had any problems; however, my sister-in-law tried the Wags in Madisonville, KY and faced a rude cashier and manager and was made to feel like she was steeling something. They told her customers were limited to two transactions, she couldn’t stack coupons, and could only use one register reward per visit. They said they have too many couponers and it’s getting out of hand. Then they asked her where she got her information on how to coupon? So she’s going to stick with CVS and let Walgreens keep their merchandise???

When the BOGO sale on Purex sale was going on and the BOGO coupons were available I went to all 6 Walgreens in the city I live in. NOT A SINGLE ONE of those stores would honer the BOGO sale w/ the BOGO coupon!!! If only that sale would have been @ Kroger, or Wal-Mart, or CVS!! Those are the only stores that DO NOT give me any problems!! I can get a few good deals @ Target, but they can be a rude obnoxious pain in the butt just like WALGREENS šŸ™ I NEVER EVER EVER will shop @ Walgreens again!!! I boycotted Target for 6 months, but they never were as bad as Walgreens, so I continue to go to Target every week. However, Wagreens has permanently lost my business. Not just because of that sale, but because of how they treated me then and every other time I tried to coupon there. If I can’t coupon @ a store then I don’t want to shop there EVER!

Montgomery, AL area: When I was new to using coupons I used to try to do the WAG deals. My experience with WAG in some areas of Montgomery, AL have been absolutely terrible. I recommend that my fellow couponers never go to the one on 3892 Atlanta Hwy. It ended up with me and my friend getting hassled, and it was the only time I got really upset at a store. The lady there (supervisor or asst. manager person) was extremely rude and had no clue about using coupons. She was really ghetto and unprofessional. The new WAG on Vaughn Rd. and the one in Wetumpka are a lot more knowledgeable and friendly (excuse me, but I also think they are more intelligent, seriously). That being said, I still hardly ever do the WAG deals anymore because their computer never seems to take coupons without beeping and when there is a problem, the cashiers usually have no idea what’s going on. It’s usually just not worth the hassle here.

My Walgreens manager friend said that Corporate sent out a mass email on the BOGO thing about 1 year ago stating that they should refuse to do it. Mine still does it though cuz she is very coupon friendly.

I was at my local Walgreens here in Chicago today when I overheard the store manager and the CEO of Walgreens himself talking about how Walgreens is about to buy out nearly 200 Rite Aids nation wide and just shut them down since Walgreens usually has a store located withing a block or two of a Rite Aid. Needless to say, it sounds as if Rite Aid will eventually die and be completely out of business by the end of 2012, with what im reading online and hearing at my local store.

I just went to walgreens yesterday and tried to buy the old spice body spray it was advertised buy 1 get one half off and I had a buy one get one free coupon the manager said that I could use the buy 1 get one free but not both . So I called the corp walgreens the lady I talked to didnā€™t understand why not either and said she would have someone call me. Well today the manager callme from the store and told me again we couldnā€™t because he was told a year ago that we couldnā€™t so I mention the new coupon policy and told him they didnā€™t really address it but he said when he got back from vacation he would double check.

I’m not sure if this has been discussed already but at our Walgreen’s in WI they DO apply the overage to other items…I am very new to serious coupon-ing (as in trying to get started) but I went tonight to Walgreen’s….I had Nivea men’s body wash $3 coupons, the sale was 2 for $5. So I got 6 soaps (used 5 coupons) for $.76 total. Do they do this for you now Collin? Just curious. I have more to use so I hope they’ll let me do more.

ok I am really late to the party but I just found your site. I had to respond to let you know I really enjoyed your calls to walgreens. Even now with a posted coupon policy they are still a bundle of confusion, and need more training at the cashier level. I have learned to navigate their complex RR system and 1 coupon per item purchased requirements due to some really tremendous savings, however CVS is my preferred store, due to their simpler policies. While I have run into several nice cashiers in my shopping, the only rude cashier experiences I have had have all been walgreens. I even had one cashier hide sale products behind her register and she would only give them to customers that asked and admitted she told some “extreme” couponers they were all out. I asked her what about all of the other customers that see the empty shelf and leave frustrated without asking? She did not have an answer. This particular item she was witholding was one the manager had ordered several extra cases because a couponer tipped her off that the sale was coming and there would be a big demand due to a recent coupon, so I knew to press that it was unlikely they were out this early on a Sunday. At least mgr is coupon friendly. I am very thankful for sites like yours that help educate and break things down into simple to understandable explanations. Keep up the great job you do, I am very thankful for you!
