This may be a total fluke, but I bought the full size connect 4 (spongebob version) at walmart on Saturday and it rang up for $4. The shelf tag said $19 something and there was a yellow sticker on the box marked $18. May be worth your time to price check if you already have a walmart trip planned.

Would this version work for the Pictureka?

The Kmart clearance toys and games are an add’l 30% off right now, and they have the full-sized Monopoly game in Spanish for $6.00, which ends up being $4.20 after the 30% off. Use the $4 Q and pay just 20 cents!! I’m going to donate some to toys for tots since I don’t speak Spanish.

So I tried using this coupon on a clearanced board game at Kmart yesterday. We get up to the cashier and the coupon wouldn’t cooperate. She tried to tell me that it wasn’t for the game I was getting. Clue Jr. is a Clue board game right? Makes sense to me. Okay…so she calls the manager and asks her for help. When she gets off the phone with the manager she says that coupons can’t be used on clearance items. Now we all know that the item being on clearance has nothing to do with being able to use a coupon on it. The cashier then asks if I’d like to speak to the manager. I have never had to do that before, but I felt it was completely unfair so I said yes. The manager comes over and takes a look at the coupon and the item. She tells me that you can never use a coupon on an an item on sale or clearance because the manufacturers don’t want you to double dip. I explain how that is completely untrue and I have done it at every other store out there. Not only that but I have my fiance standing next to me who works guest service at Target and he even stands up for me and tells her that that is untrue. She looks at the coupon again and tries to tell me that where it says “Coupon may not be used in conjunction with any other offer” that is what it means. We all know that it says that on every coupon out there and it doesn’t mean sale. She then does the math out loud (the game was clearanced to $10 with an extra 30% off bringing it to $7…and then take off the $4 coupon…= $3) then proceeds to tell me “So you want me to give this to you for $3?”. I think, well first off you’re not “giving” me anything. I calmly and politely respond back with “Yes I would as that is what the coupon brings the total to.” The manager said I can’t use the coupon on it, but she’ll let me “have” it for $5. I smiled, told her nevermind, and walked out. I can’t believe people like that are actually allowed to run a store!
I called the Kmart customer service number and was eventually told that it was “up to the manager’s decision because they know which manufacturers allow coupons to be used on clearance items and which don’t” ….what????? So basically I got nowhere. The thing that really urks me is that I was shopping with my 7 year old sister who was really excited about getting this game and was paying for it herself. She goes shopping with me all the time and I teach her about using coupons and shopping sales. She went up to pay with game and coupon in hand until the problems arose and I took over. Honestly it isn’t even about the money. I just don’t think it is right for managers to make up lame excuses just because they don’t like that I end up paying next to nothing for an item with a coupon.
Ana says:
Wow…that was long! Haha! Sorry, I guess I just needed to vent. Hope everyone else has better luck than I do. Hopefully it is just (evil) Kmart.
Annie says:
It seems that at least one of the $4/1 coupons has reached it’s limit. Like another reader, I was able to snag $5/1 coupons from the card games, though I found mine at Walmart. In one transaction, I bought six games, and using five $5 off coupons, one of the $4 coupons, and a $5 off $25 purchase, I was able to get all the games for only $1.67 each! If you’ve got your heart set on getting this deal, it might be worth it to check the card games (Monopoly and Sorry Revenge) at Walmart and/or Target.
