Yay! I’m so happy to see some great CVS deals – especially since my Walgreens is doing the points program and not Register Rewards. I followed a previous reader’s advice and contacted corporate about my disappointment. I was professional and polite but to the point – wouldn’t it make sense to participate in the RR program since they are in competition with CVS and there is a CVS that is one stop light away from them where I am located?! I don’t know.. but I sure love CVS for their ECB!
how do you know that your walgreens isn’t giving RRs is it posted in the ads? I dont want to go tomorrow and be surprised when my RRs dont print
don’t worry about it if you aren’t in the test market. Those in the test market have a different ad. They do get some RR deals, but a majority are Point Based and they need a shoppers card (like CVS & RA)

The ad that you receive will have points instead of Register Rewards in it. Trust me, you’ll be able to tell. If you want to check ahead of time, you can go to walgreens.com and check out the weekly ad and type in your zip code to see what your ad looks like. If they’re offering register rewards, it will be there.
I talked to my manager at WAGS and she told me that they are having major complaints about the points program. I asked what I coud do and she told me to call corporate every week and email every week as well. Also to explain that I now do most of my shopping at CVS or price match at Wal-Mart. I live in Kansas City, MO and I HATE the points program and so I let WAGS know it on a regular basis. She told me to spread the word about contacting corporate and maybe it would help.

I also shop in the KC area and have emailed, wrote it on there FB wall all with no response!
If this is a test then they should listen to the people and get a clue…… This new program BITES!
I live in Richmond VA and also HATE the points program – I have almost stopped shopping at walgreens because of it…
I just moved to Olathe KS from StL MO and I COMPLETELY HATE the points program. I am finding that the few Register Rewards that are advertised in the ad don’t print and then I have to turn around and bring it to the mgr’s attention, only to receive a gift card for the RR amt. Unless it is a BOGO sale item, I take the ad to Wal Mart to price match rather than go to Wags.
A gift card is waaay better than getting RR! It doesn’t expire, and you don’t have to worry about using it in 2 weeks – likely when there are no deals to be had.
The only problem is you don’t get the same value for the points as you do with the RR. It takes 2000 points for a $5.00 card and you have to wait until you get all the points and then wait for the card to be sent to you.
I agree with you guys I’m in KC area also and HATE the Wags card. Only deal I have gotten in a long time really since Black Friday was the Fruity Pebble deals. We miss out on so many RR deals.
Anyone notice that if you use coupons in the test areas or if you use RR’s to pay for items, you don’t get points? Like the purpose of using coupons and RR’s is to get our OOP down, but if you get it down to less than $1 before taxes, then you’ don’t get points. The only points that are worth it are the bonus points if you buy an item. Yes, the walgreens rewards points stink.
I am not at all familiar with this coupon system, but hopefully it won’t get the green light to go national – doesn’t seem like anyone likes it!
Yeah, a gift card is better, but it takes 2000 points to get a $5 one, and its AFTER manufacturer coupons. Also, test areas pretty much don’t have any Register Reward deals at all.

Collin, there are many Physicians Formula items that are VERY Cheap. The Concealer Sticks are $5.99, the quad eyeshadows are $6.99. The Concealer Sticks will be $3.60, and the Quad Eyeshadows will be $4.19. CVS has no policy against overage, so you can make money on these, as long as you have something to absorb the overage. 🙂
Also, at pretty much every CVS store i’ve been to, they’ve had hangtags that says ‘Buy 3 Coke 2 liter products, get $1 off.” So that makes it $2 for 3 coke 2 liters. Here’s what you can do if you want only the coke 2 liters:
Buy 15 coke 2 liters – $15
Use (5) $1/3 coke coupons
Pay $10
Get back $5
$5 for $15 Coke 2 Liters – 0.33 each!!
Or, mix it up like this:
Buy 12 Coke 2 liters – $12
Buy 1 Triscuit – $2

Every time I try to use coupons more than the item, they beep and the cashier has to adj the price. The only coupon I’ve ever gotten for the full amount is the $1 Dawn coupons, for whatever reason those go through even in they are on sale .88. So overage is YMMV!

This week, i would start off with the Allegra Allergy. As collin said, it is $5.99, get back $5.99 ECB (Extra Bucks). Using the $2 off coupon that collin stated, you pay $4 Out Of Pocket, and get back $6! You can then use that to buy other items!

Natalie, I think it depends on your area, and certain stores. I know one of our stores (they’re about 3 miles away from each other) doesn’t post the sale tags and they usually have stuff…and then one of our stores is always well stocked. But, even if they’re out of an item, they’ll give you a raincheck, and they never expire!
I love Hershey’s chocolate, I hope they have the nuggets included in that deal.

I went to CVS last night with my teenagers. They had hair coloring kits on sale for 75% off. After watching Colin’s video on how to make a coupon binder–I felt inspired, I spent all this last week cutting my coupons (since January mind you) and putting them in my binder. Hundreds of them! Back to CVS…I looked in my coupon binder and found Natural Instincts $2/1 and Clairol $5/2 off plus other coupons for hair treatment/coloring. We got 12 hair coloring kits for FREE!!! I saved over $90. We tried to get 2 of the same color so if needed roots could be touched up in a few weeks or so :)!
By the way, I like the coupon binder method the best because I can then look up coupons as we did for this trip right then and there at the store. I had no idea I had so many “good” coupons for hair coloring. The only problem is one has to stay on top of cutting them!
I cut mine too b/c when I need to get stuff that’s not on sale at publix then I can grab the coupons for the items I actually need very quickly. (I shop at the commissary for everything not on sale elsewhere). It takes me about 2 hrs a week to cut and organize and I’m usually behind by a week or so, but it makes me feel happy to see my huge binder full of coupons!
I actually have a system that does not include cutting. lol. I store the inserts by date, and I keep a list of what each insert contains. That way I can easily access them week by week, and cut only the ones I need. I wouldn’t be able to find coupons as easily as you did for that sale, but I have a pretty good knowledge of what coupons I have, so I save a TON of time clipping this way!! 🙂

Check the ad from last week, if the deal you want has a different number up under it ( xxxxxx ) <– looks like that, you can do it again because it's a totally new deal 🙂 Learned that from my local store HTH!!

If a deal continues from one week to another, it will tell you at the bottom of your receipt whether you are eligible and/or if you’ve already bought something toward an Extra Bucks deal, how much you still need to spend to get the deal.

the pinesol coupons won’t print, it says I printed the number allowed. I haven’t used pinesol for years so I know I didn’t.

they can adjust your EB down to 4.99. also, I just saw today on another website that you can hand over your EB before you hand over your MQ and then the .01 cent of EB should go towards your tax. I’ve never tried that though.
They can adjust your ECB down. So, in your case they’d just take off 4.99 meaning you’ll lose out on that penny.
I’d be willing to lose a penny or two, but generally if it’s more than a .25 I try to find a small filler item.
I’ve had cashiers refuse mine before if my subtotal was a few cents less than my ECB, but they CAN reduce the ECB (you’ll just lose that overage).
It is a YMMV situation. Some will adjust the ecb down without a problem. Others don’t know how. Still others will say that they’re “not allowed”. Usually I grab a 25 or 30 cent candy at the check out so I don’t have to deal with it.

I had a couple of problems with the suggested scenarios. The Pinesol coupon expired yesterday and the AllYou coupon for $2 off 409 is only in combination with the purchase of Glade trash bags.
I was lucky though and received a $1 off Mitchum deodorant at the magic coupon machine which I combined with the .75 off Smartsource coupon. 24 cents for my favorite deodorant, yay! Also, I received a $5 off Physician’s Formula coupon which I plan on using next week. Happy day at CVS!

Yesterday I saw these adorable wooden photo serving trays clearanced for 50% off ($4.99), lazy susans at 4.99 , collapsible storage ottomans $4.99, plus lots more. Today everything was 75% making all those listed above $2.49 each! Very glad I didn’t purchase anything last night even though I was tempted.
Items went fast this morning. I wish I would have picked up a couple more things, but I stood there thinking too long and someone else cleared the shelves 🙁 At least I did get what I really wanted.
