So, if you are trying to figure out how to make use of the FREE 8×10 photo collage offer going on at Walgreens, I have a great idea for you! Reader, Becky, emailed in with the following idea that I personally thought was very creative…

Just wanted to share with you what I did with my free 8×10 collage from Walgreen’s for Father’s Day. It didn’t work to use their software to have it arrange it, so I just made it the way I wanted in Photoshop and then uploaded it as 1 picture and had it printed.  I had to get up on a ladder to get the angle right on these, but my girls laid on our floor and arranged themselves to spell out each letter – D A D.  It was so much fun & so unique.  He’s going to love it!!  I messed with the color in Photoshop and then added a message to the photo & that was it.  I’ve put it in a $1 frame from the dollar store & that was it!

Thanks so much for all your posts that have helped us save so much money!  We’ve used several of the free Walgreen’s photos and sent them to my in-laws who live in Australia right now & photos are “priceless” to them right now since they are so far away!

Do you all have any other unique ideas to share?! Please feel free in the comments! Thanks!

        • Patty

better than trying to get a cat to cooperate!

    • Sarah

I will have to try to figure out how to do it with 8 kids! LOL

    • Jenny

I was thinking the same thing.. I will try lower case letters 🙂

  3. Amanda

That is so cute! Too bad I only have 1 kid and one in my belly LOL

    • Casey B

      @ Amanda….funny…lol…I actually had 3 kids….will try it tonight…Hope I can do it with a 10, 4 and 5 month old…lol

      • Casey B

        I mean have ..

    • MommySpendsLess

I bet you could do it with one kid if they’re old enough. We have a Grover (from Sesame Street) Golden book where Grover makes each letter by himself. He’s a cartoon so that gives him a small advantage 🙂 but when I get home I’ll see how he did D and A

    • MommySpendsLess

Oh! I just had another idea. What about printing (or writing) out each letter on a small sign and just have your little one hold it with whatever pose/expression/setting you want. My daughter’s not quite 2 so I think I’m going to try that instead…

  4. Suszy

    So ADORABLE!!

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Kari-simple you can add yourself!! 😉

  6. DazzlingDiamond

Does he like fishing or baseball? Maybe you could use a fishing pole, baseball bats or something like that for a prop for the 3rd kid?

    • Jenny

that’s a good idea too.. will try that one too 🙂 thanks

  7. Jennifer

I spelled out LOVE. My son is 2 so it had to be something easy- the L was him standing with his cows lined up for the horizontal line. The O was him looking through a car tire outside. The V was him sitting in a split tree and the E was him laying down with his cars laid out for the 3 arms. I put it together and had them printed at Walgreens to send out to all our friends and family who are fathers and grandfathers!

    • Sara

      SO creative!

    • Mommyof2Boys247

These are all great ideas! I can’t wait to try this evening with my sons.

  8. Mom of 3

This is super cute! I always had this same idea, but to use the word “FAMILY” instead with my 3 kiddos. It is an idea I have for Christmas. Thanks for the head’s up on the 2nd free collage too!

  9. Delaina

Wow, you all are so creative! I only have one kid who is sick and has a short attention span so I had to just go with your standard collage. 🙂

  10. Amber R.

OMG! I totally follow Becky’s hair blog, I thought I recognized her lil cuties and sure enough their from Babes in Hairland!

    • The Mom @ Babes in Hairland

LOL Amber! I’ve been dying to share our fun idea before Father’s Day but was afraid my husband would see it on my blog but then I figured I was safe sending it to Collin because my husband wouldn’t see it over here! The girls are so excited to give it to him!
Thanks for posting it Collin! Hopefully it’ll help a few readers! Thanks for all you do. 🙂

  11. Kimberly at HomemakingExpert

CUTE idea!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  12. Dianna

    The DAD idea is adorable!
Here’s my idea…..I had one collage printed for my husband, but didn’t know what to do with the second one. I ended up having it printed at a Walgreen’s near my mother’s home so that she can pick it up and keep it. She loves having pictures of the kids and now I don’t have to worry about mailing it. Super deal!

    • Sarah

I’ve done that before too!! I set up an account using my mom’s email address and loaded pictures on it for her. And when these deals come around I load more pictures on her account and make a collage for her to pick up at her local store (she lives 12 hours away from me so she doesn’t get to see her grandbabies very often.)

  13. Linda

Don’t forget….if you do in store pick up, the free photo item is a great “filler” if you are using register rewards for other items! 🙂

  14. Jennifer

That is so adorable!!!! What a great idea!

  15. Hilary

This is awesome! I’ve been wanting to make some collages of where we’ve traveled to. Just a heads up, I think you have to do 2 different orders to be able to use the 2 coupon codes. Wouldn’t take them at the same time.

  16. Diane

Grrrrr….I was happy with getting him a carpet shampooer until I saw this!! Now I HAVE to do this. LOL!! Thanks for the idea.

  17. Rebecca

    Beck, you are brilliant!

  18. Isabella

Awesome idea! This inspired me to do a collage in Photoshop of all photos over the last few months of daddy and the kids! And thanks Collin for giving the idea of a second freebie!!! I ordered 2 of them!!

  19. Andrea S.

I am so copying this idea! I hope you don’t mind Becky! 🙂

  20. flipside

    great idea!

  21. MommySpendsLess

This was a fantastic idea! I normally don’t have the artistic talent, time or energy for crafty projects but this one was awesome. I saw this post on my lunch break so I quickly printed ‘D’, ‘a’ and ‘d’ on three pieces of cardstock. I picked my almost-2-year-old daughter up from the sitter’s house and we had to go to Target anyway, so I found a landscaped, unused corner of the parking lot near a sidewalk. I had her pose under a pretty tree and snapped a couple of photos of her holding each sign. We went to the Dollar Tree in the same plaza and bought a $1 frame and a $0.50 Father’s Day card. I put three of the photos together to spell ‘Dad’ along with some text in Photoshop while my husband was out of the room then grabbed my laptop and sat in the bathroom uploading the picture to Walgreen’s website while my daughter took her bubble bath. The picture will be ready for me to pick up on my way home from work tomorrow, at a Walgreens I pass anyway, and I can slip it into the picture frame that will be hiding in my car. I think this project was easier to put together on the sly than it is going to be to get my daughter to scribble on the greeting card without my husband noticing. Thanks for the awesome idea Becky and thanks for sharing it with us Collin.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This was a great idea! I did it for my dad and my husband. There are 4 grandkids in our family so we did LOVE and they each had a letter. It turned out really great. I also got several 4 x 6 collages, which I think turned out even better than the big ones. I did black and white photos and found some really nice silver 4 x 6 frames at Walgreens on clearance for $1.49. They are perfect for sitting on your desk at work. They made great gifts for family members, especially for under $2 total (the 4 x 6 collages are $.29). Thanks for the great idea!

  23. Laura

Anyone else having trouble ordering the collage? I get to the Place Order screen and submit, but it keeps taking me back to the Place Order screen, not the Receipt screen. And after I click a couple of times it takes the coupon off and shows that i owe 4.23!

  24. jamie

Was wondering if this can be done for 1 hour pick up?

  25. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How did you get 3 photos in a row? I’m working on the collage and the program will not let me arrange the pictures that way.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

she did it in a photoshop program then submitted it as one picture she said.
