This is sort of related, but does anyone think the $10 15% off card is worth it?? We will have 2 adults (my husband and I) in college and we buy my stepson’s school supplies and I can’t remember the deals from last year to compare to see if it’s worth it.

    • ketsy

15% is actually 15 dollars per hundred you are spending. So do the math… I fyou know for sure you will be spending more than that at the store then go for it… if you feel you can get better deals elsewhere , then no…:)

    • Dee

If you plan on spending MORE than $66.66 in school supplies, then you will get your money’s worth.

      $66.66-15% = $10 you invested.

    • Suz

If I did the math correctly, once you spend $67 you would break even, so if you will be buying any high ticket items (like a calculator for a high school or college student) then it might be a good plan. (Any math teachers out there to check my math? I teach science!)
      🙂

      • Suz

Oops! I see Dee already posted this!

    • Sue

In my mail today I received a Staples 15% off back to school savings pass, good until 09/15. It said the pass is free for our best customers! Check your mail, you might get one too!

  2. Natasha

Wow this seems like a really good deal. It doesnt say there are any restrictions.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There were restrictions. I don’t think I spent enough last year to warrant paying $10.00 to get $15.00 off. If you watch the ads they should be haveing back to school promotions that will make supplies cheaper within the next couple of weeks.

  3. Dawn

I’ve been needing to restock some of my office supplies anyway but now I’ll actually be able to afford to do so with these coupons. Thank you so much for sharing these 🙂

  4. Sarah

    Christy,
I don’t know for sure, but my gut says that you probably don’t need the 15% off card. I’ve seen lots of freebies for school supplies in the past. If you need really specific or unusual things though, it might be worth it.

  5. Anonymous

This is great! I started teaching last year and need to purchase these supplies for my room. Our school budget is low and we have to buy from certain companies (who never have sales). So I would rather pay out of pocket for the items I can get on sale and use my budget for the more expensive necessities. Thanks again, Collin!!!

    • MichelleO

A nice feature for teachers at Staples is that they will allow you to go over the advertised limit. So if they have a killer deal for 25 cents and the average customer can only buy 2, teachers can buy a classroom worth. If I remember correctly, for teachers the limit is 30.

  6. MrsRockNRoll

Does anyone see anywhere that this would include the “clear plastic paper holder things?” I am organizing my coupons.

Also does anyone have some good suggestions for conserving your ink when you print your coupons, or a cheap way to buy/re-fill? I have lowered all my settings on the quality thus using less ink when printing.

    • fran

I use HP ink and they have these larger XL cartridges. you get more pages than the regular size and the value is a lot better.

    • Staci

I have been ordering my ink on amazon and saving a ton. We have a laser printer (hp laserjet p1102w) and generic ink refills, which work just as well, are $17 instead of $62 and the cartridges last through a ton of prints.

    • DianeG

MrsRockNRoll, I also use the HP XL cartridges. But you can set the prints to DRAFT each time you print, a few quick clicks have saved me a lot of ink. When the print dialogue box comes up, choose Properties, under the SET UP tab, set the print quality to DRAFT. On the ADVANCED tab, set color to “Print in grayscale”. You can’t do anything about the coupons that print directly unless you switch all your printing to black all the time.
The least expensive cost per page is with a (black only) laser printer, but it’s a bigger cost up front etc…. Every once and a while a super deal comes.
When Staples had the 15% off one item the other week and 20% back in rewards for HP ink, I thought I was getting a really good deal. And then someone pointed out to me that you couldn’t get rewards on items that you paid for with rewards ….bottom line….if you don’t want to mess with rewards and all the tricky exclusions on Staples, Amazon seems to have the best deal on ink right now.
Some people have great luck with refill cartridges. I have not, and after spending hours taking printers apart to clean them, I only buy HP cartridges.

      • MrsRockNRoll

        Thank you so much! 😉

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I bought a continuous ink system (CIS) on Amazon. You hook it up to your printer. It sits outside your printer.Check them out on the internet. It will save you a lot of money on ink.

      • irene

LOL! You printer is an intravenous junkie! Printing is an expensive habit, indeed!

      • lydiakay

We have the continuous feed system too and LOVE it!! Have hardly replaced any ink- excpet black since Christmas and we print a TON of stuff- including photos!!

  7. Staci

These almost seem too good to be true!

  8. aurielle99

Well a case of HP paper runs about $55 online so 75% off and ill be stocked for the rest of the year. Might get a case for the office at this price.

  9. aurielle99

I suggest print these while you can. Once the coupon nation takes ahold of it, Staples might change the coupon again with more restrictions.

    • Carol_R

      Good idea!

  10. jdier

Thanks for the coupon! Good for business supplies!

  11. Rita

FYI: Last week Staples had the dollar days coupons which included a coupon for a $2.00 ream of Staples paper. I used the coupon at Office Max and Office Depot, both of them honor competitor coupons. I got 4 Reams of paper for 2.00 each @ Office Max it was their store brand and at Office Depot it was their store brand paper. It was great for me since Staples is too far from my home to make the deals worth the trip.

Maybe something to keep in mind!

    • Pam

Thanks, Rita, that’s good to know. I had no idea. It’s amazing what we can learn from one another on these posts. Thanks again!

      • Rita

You’re welcome! I learn alot from the posts also :o)
I ran some errands and stopped in at Office Depot 75% off on a package of hp paper 6.79 package was 1.70, I also picked up a 12 pack of padded envelopes that were tagged 8.99 but rang up 2.24 plus the coupon so they were .56 cents. My grand total was under 3.00 for both items. Cashier rang me right up never questioned anything, except where could she print the coupons :o) They have to put in the code from the coupon and choose from a list of stores which includes walmart and target. FYI Office Depot had a box of HP paper reams for 29.99 so with the 75% coupon it would be a great deal.
        Blessings,

For the other comment: Last week I made a couple trips to the store. I have two Office Depots within my shopping area and one Office Max. Competitor coupon isn’t really that big of a deal…last time Office Depot had a dollar day sale their paper reams were 1.00 each, limit one, so me paying 2.00 each isn’t me saving more than the sales they have had themselves. We home educate and use alot of paper so we try to save when we can.

    • Misty

How did you get 4, I thought it was limit 1

      • yangzi

I imagine she printed 4 coupons and made 4 trips or 4 transactions.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I took the paper coupon to Office Depot. They let me use it on the case of HP paper that is on sale for $29.99. They even took the 75% off of the sale price. I got a case of paper for a little over $8!!!! Woooo Hoooo!!! 🙂

      • Rita

        Awesome deal!!!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Nikki – I did the same thing! Awesome deal!

    • Anna

Where do you find the Staples coupons? Are they printable or in a flyer?

      • Anna

Um, sorry! Just disregard. LOL. Talk about not reading everything, that was me. Not enough coffee yet.

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i earn enough on swagbucks to get amazon gift cards that pay for my ink……..

  13. LILY

WHERE CAN I FIND THE COUPONS? IT SENT ME TO OFFICE DEPOT MAIN PAGE

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Lily..they are right under the Staples logo above the comments.

    • Anon

Try again. You’ve done something wrong. I just hit the link and the coupons are there.

  14. Melissa

I really have been loving Staples lately 🙂

  15. karen

so the last time i was at staples getting their $2 paper last week i came across a staples coupon for $5 off any 500 sheet ream of hp premium choice laser, hp color laser, hp laserjet, hp bright white inkjet or hp color inkjet papers. (this was right next to the hp papers)

now i know when i bought the charmin with the 15% coupon last week i was able to use a manu coupon for $.25 off.

can i use this 75% off and this $5 off coupon? they are both staples coupons. the 75% off coupon mentions that only “each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax.” which i assume means that i can only use 1 75% off coupon on the item… it also mentions something about the order received, implying that there would be an order in which the customer gives the cashier coupons (emphasis on the plural).

does anyone know if i can use 2 staples coupons? if i gave them in the order of 75% off and then $5 off, then i’m sure the paper would be free. probably with overage. so i assume they won’t do that. but if i give the coupons in the order of $5 off and then 75% the paper might be a couple of dollars…. or less.

    any insight?

    • Carol_R

No you can’t. It states on the coupon that each item can only be discounted by one coupon applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax.

  16. Michelle

Do you think we can use the $1.00 off manufacturer coupon on coupons.com with the 75% off coupon?

    • Kara

You should be able to combine.

    • gotta_homeschool

The coupon says “Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon.”

  17. Alexis

Do you think this can be used on the case of HP Multi-use copy paper? The coupon says inkjet, laser and photo.

    • Staci

I just got back and I used it on the multi-use paper with no problems. The 5 ream case was 34.99 – 75%. Not the best deal on paper, but not bad. I also bought a 100 box of 10×13 envelopes that were 15.49- 75 %. Got both for $13 including tax. Great deal for the envelopes!

  18. teachermomnj

Here’s a question, WHERE ARE THE PENNY SALES?!! I am a teacher and just a 10% pay cut. I need my supplies. Staples has ALWAYS been my place to shop because they help teacher the most. So now I REALLY need the help, and the sales aren’t there this year.

    • Joy

The penney sales at Staples usually start in the next few weeks. The Southern states go back to school in August so you should see good back to school sales soon.

    • Meridith

Me too. Waiting patiently for the sales to begin. I am stocked up on folders for a while thanks to a Walmart donation last year. I like their penny pencils though, they are actually pretty good qualitiy pencils. And, I get the sharpeners cheap too for colored pencils.

    • Crys KeepUp

The penny sales start this coming Sunday July 10!

  19. Carol_R

I don’t know but I’ve gotten lots of great sales the last couple of weeks.

  20. Wendy

Now that I’m back from Staples, I don’t think this coupon is very exciting! The paper was $2.95 which isnt bad, but I don’t need paper that bad. And the cheapest Uniball pens I found were $4.99.

    • Kathryn

minus the 75% – the pens would’ve been about $1.25. sounds good to me.

  21. aurielle99

I just came back from staples. I bought a 500 pk envlopes for $2.50, 5 tab hanging folders box for $2.45, and a box of uniball pens for $2.62 each after 75% coupons. Great price. I can never find a pen around my house when i need it. lol

  22. Kate

LOVE STAPLES and Hip2save, checked out at staples with a case of paper ( 5 reams ), 12 notebooks, 4 colored pencils, and a box of 500 envelopes and spent a whole whopping $14.32 normally would have been over $50 bucks…what a great day!!!!

  23. darlingsilver

Just used this and saved a lot! Thanks so much for posting this coupon!

  24. Kristy

Thanks for posting! Good deal for me….
    34.99 Hp 5 reams – 75% (26.24) = 8.75 plus tax
    Less than $2 for a ream…2500 sheets

  25. Suz

My husband needed some very specific file folders for his business which retail for $19.95! Boy was I happy to have this 75% off deal plus I think now my husband will never doubt that I know how to score a deal….thanks to the help I get here!

  26. Kate

I have a quick question for those who have already used these coupons — it says “one per customer” so I’m thinking that I could do one set and then have my husband and daughter also do a set — but do they require a separate Staples card each time? Or can you use the coupons without one? TIA!

    • Cheryl

You should be able to use the same card. I have shared one with my mother for several years, just recently got my own. Mom was getting way to excited when the rewards were coming to her address and forgot that half were mine. LOL. So now we have two cards. I still pick up stuff for Mom since she lives an hour out into the boonies and have not had any trouble using both cards in one trip. I just divide the products at the register.

  27. Joelle

Thank you for this coupon. I have so many envelopes of receipts. I got a monthly accordian file for $4.25 instead of $16.99. I also picked up a couple more expanding files. I asked the checker if we could do separate transactions and she was very nice about it. I also picked up a package of 8 bankers boxes on clearance for $6.50 marked down from $20. I am so happy 😀

    • Kathryn

What is a banker box? Never heard of them

  28. jenn pruitt

So we dont have a staples near us I printed the coupons anyway and called our local office max to see if they would match competitors coupons and the manager said he would so I took three copies of the coupon up there and they let my daughter and I get three packs of hp paper three packs of uni ball pens three packs of file folders and three boxes of envelopes I spent a whopping 24.00 for all of this together with these coupons.

  29. Niki

Does anyone know how to find the Staples coupons on the STaples site?

    • Jen

      I can’t find the 75% off coupon either…HELP!

  30. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just went to Staples and they wouldn’t take my coupon because the fine print didn’t print out on it, even though it had the barcode. Came home and printed it again and still couldn’t get anything to print except the barcode and coupon code number. Has anyone else had this problem?

  31. lcrowe

If you will go to the ad and then to the coupons, right click on the coupon you want to print and it will have a print option. I just did it this way and it printed fine.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I did exactly what you said and it still does not print the bottom of the coupon that says “Valid until etc.” I tried it on another computer and printer and got the same result. I have not idea why and my staples won’t take the coupon without that last paragraph on it.

  32. Sherry

Got 75% off coupon for the HP papers yesterday. The actual price for the papers were 34.99 and used the 75% off and I ended up paying $9.28 for the case of papers. It is a really good deal….

  33. joeywishtoo

Just came back from Staples – AWESOME COUPONS!!! I used all 4 of them – bought a case of the paper, hanging file folders, pack of UniBall Jetstream pens (my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PEN!), envelopes & pack of batteries. Total before coupons was over $68 – OOP was $21.85! The cashier said “Unbelievable!” He was just as excited as I was. 🙂 THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THESE!! 🙂

  34. Tam

Does anyone know if this can be done twice? I went earlier in the week and didn’t get the paper. Will be going back tonight to get paper. Can I get pens also? Not trying to cheat the system, just wondered the rules.
    Thanks.

    • joeywishtoo

Tam – they are 4 separate coupons. At my staples, I used 1 of each coupon in 1 transaction. I got paper, envelopes, pens & file folders. Good luck!!! 🙂

  35. Kathryn

I bought a case of paper (value $34.99) and paid $10.23 after using the coupon. The clerk said “Damn, that’s good!” I said “I know!” and smiled. Going back tomorrow for the rest of the items.

  36. The Mom @ Babes in Hairland

I went and scored a box of paper from Office Depot today. It was normally almost $50 but was on sale for $30 and I got it for $8. The cashier was amazed! Said that’s like 88 cents a ream! SCORE!! Thanks so much for this!

  37. Tamara

Awww! Thank you so much for this coupon! I bought the big box of paper and a filing folder bag, and a box of 5X7 neon envelopes, and nice set of pens (my husband wanted). I paid 17- for 70 dollars worth of stuff! What a steal! Thank YOU!!!!

  38. missdeally

I sure hope someone reads this. just used this at office depot and got 10 reams of paper for 7.50 plus tax. it was on sale for 29.99 originally 46.99. at staples the 5 packs were 29.99….so excited!!!!!!

  39. Samantha

I purchased the following items at Staples yesterday all for $0.53 cents. I got 4 packages of HP Paper with the 75% coupon plus $5 coupons that Staples next to it. One package of envelopes with the coupon, two expandable folders, uni ball 5pk of pens and the refills. Total before coupons $47.17!!! Savings of 89%. Amazing!! 🙂

  40. Andromeda26

Since the coupons were 1 per customer, I had my husband go with me so we could get twice the savings.
    We got:
    – 2 cases of paper for $11.75 ea. (originally 46.99 ea.)
    – 2 cases of envelopes for $5.75 ea. (orig. 22.99)
    -1 3-tab 100ct. box of manillas for $1.75 (orig 6.99)
    -1 5-tab 25ct. box of hanging file folders for $1.75 (orig 6.99)
    – 1 Uniball Jetstream fine pens for $2.00 (orig 7.99)
    – 1 Uniball Jetstream bold pens for $1.50 (orig 5.99)
    Original Total : $167.92
    Total After Savings: $ 42.00
    That’s right! I saved $125.92!
    That was easy! lol =)

(I also saw the $5 store coupon, but both coupons said that they could not be combined with other offers! 🙁 )
