Although most Hip2Savers are very familiar with cash back sites like Ebates and ShopAtHome.com, I wanted to write this post for those of you who are new to Hip2Save and new to the idea of earning cash back from your online purchases.

If you frequently shop online and want to put some cash back into your wallet, then you’ll definitely want to familiarize yourself with cash back sites like Ebates. Ebates is a FREE cash back site that offers cash back when online shopping at popular stores such as Wal-mart, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Home Depot, Ebay, and many more!

* To get started with Ebates, you’ll first want to head over here to register for an account. Even sweeter, for a limited time, Ebates is offering all new registrants the option of a $10 bonus gift card to Barnes & Noble, Target, The Home Depot or more (keep in mind that you will only receive the gift card if you make purchases totaling $25+ within the first 90 days)

* Anytime you’re wanting to make an online purchase, be sure to log into your Ebates account to see if the store you’re wanting to purchase through is partnered with Ebates. You can find out by simply typing the name of the store in the Ebates search box.

* If the store is partnered with Ebates, you’ll find a certain percentage given for shopping through that link, which will be credited to your Ebates account within a few days of purchase! It’s very important to shop through the pop-up link that shows up after clicking “Shop Now” on Ebates as it contains your unique tracking link, which is needed to credit your account with the cash back!

* Once your account reaches $5.01, you’ll be eligible to receive your first check from Ebates. Checks are sent out every 3 months (4 times per year).

* And don’t forget to refer all your friends to Ebates. You’ll earn $5 for every new qualified member that you refer. Plus, you can even earn gift cards, iPads, and more (keep in mind that qualified referrals are Ebates members who make purchases of $25+ within the first 90 days).

Happy shopping and saving! 😀

Hey everyone, what do you think – I already do MyPoints. Is Ebates better in your experience? Sounds like it, but I want to hear.

    • Kim

I joined ebates in 2009 and since then I have gotten $379 from them.

  2. Patti

Could someone tell me how much you need to earn before Shop at Home sends you a check?

  3. Melissa

I wish Amazon was a store with ebates.

FYI – I joined because I purchase from Ebay a fair amount. After I joined and clicked on the Ebay link, it said it is not participating will be back in October. The 90 days to qualify for the gift card might be over by then, I should have waited a few weeks to join, but it didn’t tell you that until you clicked on it. 🙁

I am not sure why Ebates is not currently offering cash back for purchases made at Ebay.com. All I can recommend is that you contact Ebates customer service for more details and to share your frustration.

Collin….I cannot find a phone # with them. 🙁 I had an issue with an order back in May and emails are not doing well. I want to talk to a human! I can’t find a #.

      • Kim

They will be back….according to eBay.

Been using Shop at Home…does anyone like this site better?

    • Shellie H

I use both, and just shop with whichever site (ShopAtHome or Ebates) gives a larger percent back for the store I’m shopping at.

Anybody else have this experience? I was placing a reservation on a hotel website. Then remembered ebates. I got a higher price though when I went through ebates. I couldn’t get the cheaper price unless I didn’t use ebates. Odd.

I signed up for the $10 GC (Target) but haven’t received it. Do you know if it comes with your first check?

    • Amanda

I was wondering the same thing – my hubby has not gotten his $10 Target card yet either and he spent the money it says you have to spend to qualify. Did you ever get an answer?

O.k. Can anyone help? I placed an order with Petcarerx through Ebates and Ebates was offering 12% cash back at that time. I was sooo excited to see my acct would get $9.41 credit……except it didn’t. I sent an email to Ebates and they are asking for the confirmation page. What is that? Do they need the invoice for the order? Can’t find a phone # for them and emails are not wkg. HELP!!!!!! Thanks!

    • Jenn

Errrrrr!!!! I did some research and found that you will not get $$$ back on rx from Petcarerx. Geesh! I wish they would have just let me know that in the email!!!! Irritated! Other then this issue….Ebates is VERY easy and quick to use. 🙂

I use both ebates and shopathome…and I actually like ebates better. The only time I use shopathome is when they offer more cash back than ebates. I have earned almost $100 cash back from ebates in the year I have been using it…I’ve never had a problem with them! 🙂

I’ve love ebates. I’ve been a member for years now and have gotten over $200 in cash back. Really, it’s just as good as shopathome but sometimes I compare the two sites to see who has the bigger % back. On ebates, you can track your history, so if a refund doesn’t show up, send the info & it’s usually credited right away. As for the eBay cashback, I received an email when they decided to suspend the cashback with eBay. Didn’t really rxplain why, but my guess is it might be up to the company if they want to participate.

In my account info it says my cash pending is $8.40 and my total cash back is $8.40. Shouldn’t they have sent me a check? I never got one. And also, I referred my husband who signed up and I never got credit for it.

    • Mackenzie

You will need to verify your address information is entered before they issue a check. Their next cycle is sometime in August and I got an email two days ago asking to enter in my address so they can mail the check. I can’t remember whether you can use Paypal (or if that’s Staples I’m thinking of lol).

      • kelsey

Thank you Mackenzie! I went and looked and as it turns out, I hadn’t even put my address in at all! Thank you : ) I had given up on ebates even though I do most of my shopping online. Thanks so much!

        • Mackenzie

You’re welcome! Glad it was an easy fix 😉 I love Ebates…reminds me a lot like Bing Cashback from about 2 years ago. Only there are more options 🙂
