Collin, thanks so much for posting this. I got this coupon in my e-mail the other day and printed it because I want to try to make some jelly for the first time and I was not sure how much this stuff costs. It will be great to get a little package for free to try my hand at it! 🙂
Thank you so much for this coupon. It didn’t come in my 6/12 SS, so I was more than happy to print it here. Bring on the fruit!!!!!!
Sweet deal! If only my garden had produced anything this year. Curse my black thumb!
I make my own jams and jellies. You don’t have to boil the jars. Look at the bottom of the instructions, once you fill the jars, wipe down the tops of the lids, put the lids on and the screw on lids TURN THEM UPSIDE DOWN for 10 minutes.
Use the recipes included with the pectin. I’ve made strawberry/blueberry, blueberry, strawberry/banana, strawberry/pineapple, apple (made from juice), strawberry/blackberry, and blackberry. There are so many possibilities! The jars are reusable and it is cheaper (and more organic) to make it yourself. It only takes me 45 minutes to make one batch and that is 12 jelly jars!
You don’t have the boil the jars at ALL, or just before you fill them? Look at the bottom of what instructions? I’m very interested in this.
I LOVE Blackberry!! My mom & sister have made strawberry & peach freezer jams that just rock!
Please follow all instructions from the box carefully. The inversion method is not recommend for canning. It leads to a weaker seal and that means you product will not last as long on the shelf. There are so many things that can go wrong. (Not boiling or heating jars just invites bacteria.)
The Ball site is great for getting started. Trust that site.
Let me clarify. I do boil the jars prior to putting the jelly in. I don’t boil after they are sealed. Ball is the company of jars that I use and if you read the entire instructions you will see the inversion method on the bottom. Over the past 15 years and the probably 50+ batches I have made, there has never been a problem. Now this is not recommended for canning fruits, vegetables or meats, just jams and jellies.
Canning has come a long way in 100 years since Ball started printing their first guide to preserving. Aug. 13th is Nat’l Can-It-Forward Day. Please teach others proper methods to can and preserve.
I think the 6/12 q was for “flex batch” which is a larger plastic jar and costs more.
Also, where is the link for the printable q from…I like to go to the source as my Kroger is so picky and I want to make sure it is a legit print. Hope that doesn’t offend anyone. Thanks.
Ball offered a sample of their Real Fruit Pectin recently and in the email confirming your sample was a link to this coupon! 🙂
The $1/1 coupon from the 6/12 SS is actually for the Flex Batch Pectin, not the single batch which is what these packets are, so shouldn’t be used on them. The Flex Batch is a 4.7 oz jar which typically runs from $3.99-$4.99 regular price. I wish it was for any pectin product, that would have been awesome! Sorry 🙁
I was just at Walmart and this is size is for 2 jars ONLY. Prepare accordingly to buy the right amount. Most recipes make 7-8 (8 oz jars).
I am so excited about this coupon, I’ve been looking into more ways of being frugal other than stockpiling and stumbled upon canning, can’t wait to try it!!
Did this print out really big for everyone?
It took up the whole page! I couldn’t figure out how to make it smaller but maybe someone can.
I copied it and shrunk it on another program, but I’m wondering if it will scan at the store when it’s this small. I guess I will find out when I actually make it over to one of those stores…(:
Tried using this about two weeks ago at Walmart, but it wouldn’t scan so they would take it. Has anyone else had better luck?
Steph I had the same problem at Walmart. The cashier took my coupon to a supervisor came back and they she couldn’t take it because it looked “copied” and “fraudulent” and I told her where I got it and she said that the numbers and the scan bar looked like they were copied onto the coupon. I didn’t fight it because it was a dollar off and I was going to purchase the pectin anyways.
I just tried using it at Walmart and was told the same thing, “It won’t scan, so we won’t take it.” Bummer. 🙁
Last night I tried using this coupon and they wouldn’t take it either because it wouldn’t scan. A friend told me today that our Wal-Mart is no longer taking coupons printed off of the computer due to people copying them. I am bummed!
Awesome! I’ve been canning like a fiend this year. I haven’t used any pectin yet and am getting a great set so far but free is free!
I just tried to use the BIG coupon at Walmart and they wouldn’t take it because it was printed, “I said, YES from my computer” Oh well, maybe I didn’t want to make jelly.
Has anyone tried using these at the Commissary? I’m always nervous about PDF coupons because I’m not sure what their policy is.
I saw peelies at Jewel on a display of these for get $1 off fresh produce WYB the pectin. Keep your eyes out!
So we’re not limited to just printing one of these right?
I just tried to use this at Kroger and they wouldn’t take it. They said since it wouldn’t scan, they couldn’t accept it!! 🙁 I was really looking forward to free salsa mix!
