@moultonsplace just so you know you can use regular detergent in your HE washer. If you use regular detergent only use 1 to 2 TBS max per load. Your clothes come out clean and smell good and it’s much cheaper. I was told this by a repair man who works on the HE washers. Also if you want your front load washer to live longer, don’t use fabric softner. Can’t live with out it use white vinager (you can mix in a drop or two of ess. oils if you need the smell). Hope this helps you out and saves yoiu $$$$$

My aunt got HE washer and dryer years ago, she had no idea that she could only use HE detergent. She ended up having problems with it and called the repair guy out, and boy did he yell at her! She’s only used HE since, and hasn’t had any problems.

Thanks for the info! I just purchased a bunch of detergent from a previous deal for a great price and later realized it wasn’t HE. So glad I can still use it, and using only 1-2TB per load should make it stretch for a really long time

I have a GE HE washer and contacted GE about using non-HE detergents just this week and this was the response I got:
“It is perfectly okay to use Non-HE detergent in your HE washer. I would suggest using only half of the recommended amount of detergent, as you have stated. HE detergent is simply a low-sudsing formula that works well with the new energy efficient washers.”

For people who shop online like myself this is great since we just generally spend a lot of time online. However when I tried to download the toolbar (I assume you have to do this to use it a a search engine?) it said it does not yet support safari 5.1. This is my preferred browser if others use explorer or firefox it should work.
