We’ve all got our own horror stories…or other folks kids we’ve seen in action.
We were in Cracker Barrel one afternoon and there was a large family of adults and this 4-5 yr. old boy. The adults were zoned out in conversation while we watched their “little angel” climbing under the dining table, rolling on the floor and then he proceeded to start rolling on the base of the fireplace-with a fire going! He kept jumping right on top of the open area inches from the fire!
The parents? Oblivious in conversation. Finally, obviously a grandparent at the table walked over & grabbed the little dickins’ and dragged him back to their table. She whispered something in his ear but he immediately began his squirming in his seat and took off again! Mother and Father just sat there.
What will this child face when he reaches his teens?
Another great resource for difficult children is anything by James Dobson. The Strong Willed Child is priceless 🙂

I agree with you. Dr. Dobson is great!

My mom’s groups (we all have 3 year old’s) was just discussing discipline and this is one of the books that popped up as highly recommended. I (and many others) are excited to have an opportunity to read it for free! Thanks for sharing!

I have started reading this, and at first I didn’t consider my child overly spoiled. Somewhat spoiled but not the kid in the restaurant that everyone is starting at. As I read it I realize how much I do spoil him. I’m glad I’m starting now (he’s 11) before it’s too late!

    FYI – This isn’t free anymore. 🙁
