Just a questions….. is it really free? You guys never rec’s any bills from them ?

    • fran

You might get a renewal bill, but if you don’t want the magazine anymore, just don’t respond to it and that is the end of that ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • fran

Oh, and yes, Kasia, it really is free. I can’t tell you how many free subscriptions I have gotten from Hip!

    • Meli

Is it free? Yes! Will you be sent a bill for it. I haven’t. I signed up for it on behalf of my son’s fiance. That was 2 1/2 years ago. My son and his wife will have been married for 2 years in March, and the magazine still comes to my house! I usually give the copies away to young women I know who are hoping to get married in the near or distant future. I probably should contact the company and tell them I no longer need to receive it, but I assume that the magazine makes more money in advertising than in subscriptions and prefers to have higher numbers of subscribers so that they can charge higher advertising fees.

I sure hope no one needs to plan their wedding for 2 years!

    • thelostpond

Right! Or we will be soon be seeing post for “Free 2 year subscription to “Mr. Commitment Issues”.

      • Kelly

Bwahahahah! Love this. That was my thought exactly, the only reason I would really want two years of it is because I am a wedding planner.

    • Audra

It’s not commitment issues to have a 2 year engagement. Some people like to have a long engagement to save up for the wedding instead of putting everything on credit card. Not everyone gets mommy and daddy to pay for their wedding so it’s best to wait until you can afford what you want. When 2 adults get engaged that’s another thing to put money to- so instead of going into debt or risk missing a house payment they choose to wait. What’s the point of rushing into it when you know it will last anyway?
That being said- my engagment was 10 months- not 2 years. But my best friend is having a 2 year engagment so that they can save up and not rely on anyone else. So this is perfect for her.

I just got engaged and am thinking about a year and a half engagement because I need to save as well. Commitment would be an issue if I didn’t have this ring! I agree with you Audra! I don’t wont to be broke newlyweds!

      • thelostpond

I was just poking fun at my brother -in- laws 7 year engagement.
My husband and I got married at a park and only paid our friend to marry us, and bought cute summer dress and flip flops and him black pants, white shirt, and flip flops. Whole wedding was $160 with marriage licence. We had an awesome honeymoon though. Two weeks.

        • thelostpond

          We even used coupons! LOL
I do agree though, no debt, is the way to go. Best way to start a life.
