Important Update on Digital Doorstep

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

If you are a frequent purchaser of daily deals, you have likely had some sort of interaction with a company called Digital Doorstep. Digital Doorstep was a company used by sites like Plum District and Eversave (just to name a couple) to process purchases of gift cards and Fandango codes. As of yesterday morning, Digital Doorstep filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. 🙁

If you have current vouchers that direct you to Digital Doorstep, you’ll need to return to the website/daily deal site where you purchased your product and they will either issue you a full refund or deliver the product to you directly. If you prefer, you can also enter your code and information here and Digital Doorstep will forward your product request to the appropriate daily deal site from which you purchased.

On a side note, the CEO of Plum District (who recently used Digital Doorstep to fulfill their Starbucks gift card/Fandango code offer and their Target gift card offer) released this statement yesterday:

For any customers who haven’t received Target cards or been able to redeem Starbucks/Fandango promotion codes, we are issuing a full refund. Despite our efforts to resolve the issues, we’ve lost all confidence that you might receive your cards, and earlier this week we filed a lawsuit with Digital Doorstep for breach of contract. Additionally, Digital Doorstep filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy today, so to ensure we always put our customers first, we are refunding all of these unfulfilled purchases. Furthermore, we will not work again with any merchant that doesn’t meet our high standards. We truly appreciate your patience, support and business throughout what we know was an even more frustrating period for you than it was for us. We look forward to “Making Mom’s Day” — your day — each day in the future. If you need further assistance or do not receive your refund within 7 business days, please contact us at help@plumdistrict.com. – Megan Gardner, CEO Plum District.

And one more thing – I am sorry that this happened and I can understand how frustrating these type of issues are to deal with. I am, thought, happy to see that Plum District has stepped up to the plate and is issuing refunds to customers. I also like that they have taken the time to communicate about these issue via email and through Facebook.

Collin or Bryn, what does this mean for those of us who won a $25 Target gift card that was to be fulfilled by Digital Doorstep?

    • Kat

I meant to say from the Hip Hip giveaway

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Kat!

We will be taking care of all of those gift cards! 🙂 Bryn will be in touch with you all. And you are also welcome to email her with any questions – bryn@hip2save(dot)com

      • Angela

Oh that’s awesome to hear. I was really worried. Thanks for helping!

  2. Debbie

FOlks need to realize these types of deal sites exploded in the last year or 2. There are literally hundreds of them, trying to get your $$ offering up all kinds of what they say are “deals”.
I’ve been able to take advantage of quite a few myself.
The bigger ones that have stayed the test of time are your safer bets.

I was thought my lesson after the scare about Tippr and the other Overstock thing… I had to check my credit card balance. Tippr appears to be charging fraudulent charges all over my account. 1 dollar charges here and there spread out over the days. I did buy both overstock stuff that was posted and I’m having serious issues. Please check your accounts… I will never do Tippr or Groupilious whatever their names are ever again!!!!

      • michelle

Wow, sorry to hear that! Hope you get it all worked out.

  3. debra

Wow, now I know whay I am having such a problem with my fandango purchase. Thanks!

  4. Rose

Thanks for the update. I was going to call my bank today because I have not gotten my Starbucks code.

You have the best deals and I really appreciate all the money you help me save!

  5. Jen

I do have my starbucks code printed out – I wonder if starbucks will still accept it?

    • JenDoc

I was able to get my starbucks voucher to work and print out to. Its a full sheet of paper with a gift card type box near the bottom that had the gift card barcode. I was able to use mine 9 days ago without a problem at a local starbucks. I also had them transfer the remaining money to a real gift card (that they had near the registers) becuase it was easier to put in my wallet and keep track of.
      Good Luck!

  6. Savings Viking

I believe this also affects the savemore.com gift cards.

  7. Michele

saveology is refunding also. I sent them an e-mail yesterday about this!

  8. Ms Tee

This is why I never trusted sites like those…when something is a “hit or miss” as far as getting a deal…I stay away.

  9. Jenifer

Plum District sent me an email letting me know they were refunding my money. I am thankful they are doing the right thing. DO NOT ever buy from savemore.com!! I am still waiting for a refund from the CVS deal.

    • Liz

Yes, I agree. Savemore.com has to be the worst daily deal site I have every purchased from. I have had to contact them over 20 times for 4 different deals that are “delayed”. I am currently waiting on two refunds that I still haven’t received. Yesterday I had enough with Savemore.com and disputed the charges with my bank.

  10. Rei

Tippr said they will be reimbursing me for the Fandango voucher.

  11. seana

Does anyone remember the site that did the target gift card combined with Restaurants.com? I haven’t gotten either and I can’t remember who I went through.
Thanks if anyone can help. I think it was just before Christmas.

    • Rachlee

I did that deal through Plum District – they’ve already sent me a refund.

    • Sue

the target/restaurant.com offer was through plum district. I got a message that they had refunded my account. I still need to check to make sure the account was credited. Hope your account gets credited as well.

    • Jana

I also was automatically refunded, they sent me an email last week. I checked my card and it was refunded. And they refunded my plum dollars that I used towards the purchase. I checked my card and it was already credited. My lesson from the groupaliciou overstock deal is actually use the virtual account number feature my card offers.

    • La

They refunded mine as well…and then I got the stuff in the mail the next day. The Target card only had $5 on it, but I was able to use the restaurant.com.

      • Kat w

Sharing spree, ever save and plum district

  12. Mary

I bought 2 deals from Savemore.com. One was for PapaJohns and one was for subway. They haven’t come through for me. I am unable to get them to respond to emails and the voucher number that they gave me for PapaJohns is not valid. When I googled them I saw that lots of people were having the same problem. I still get emails from them as they are still trying to sell deals. I don’t know what to do about them!

    • Jennifer

I have emailed them over and over. I also did not get the papa Johns gift card (I did get the Subway one though). Supposedly they are issuing me a refund–this was 1/13 and he said to allow 7-10 days. As of today there still was no refund. Here’s the email help@savemore.com–I also got a ‘live operator’ and told her of my issues. She said she would forward it to IT but that was useless. Funny b/c I have bought from them numerous times before and had no problems….

    • Frances

I also purchased the Papa John’s deal a while back. I received an email from them a few months later saying that the deal was for new customer’s only and since I was not a new customer they had issued me a refund. I checked my credit card statement online and they had issued the credit. Maybe they did not send you an email or it went to spam or got deleted. go back and check your credit card statement for the past few months and see if there was a credit issued to you.

      • Frances

Sorry, I got an email from them a few weeks later not months!

  13. patsy

I’ve had problems with Savemore.com for the barnes and noble card. Are they tied in to this as well.

    • Amy

I’m still waiting to get this as well. I think I am taking the advice of other hipsters and disputing the charges with my credit card company. Boo, SaveMore. :/

  14. Kari C

I bought the savemore one for Walmart and Dining dollars for digital doorstep! It expires Feb 01 2012. Did anyone get anything from Save more about this yet or did they email them??

    • Kari C

Just called Savemore, Said Operator not available, I left a message with my phone number so ill update when I get a call back.

  15. seana

My deal was thru eversave. They are gone too so I guess I am out of luck.

    • Kristen

What do you mean eversave is gone? I think that company is still in business.

    • Kari C

Eversave is still a valid site, I have bought numerous vouchers from them and never had an issue.

  16. CF

Thanks, Rei. I had the same Fandango voucher. Purchased in Nov. Haven’t entered my code, yet Digital Doorstep says my code is already used. Humph! Good for Tippr!

    • Kari C

It said the same thing to me and I haven’t used it.

      • JenDoc

If you havent received the email from Plum District yet stating that they are refunding the purchase, you can follow the instructions on your email that has the redemption instructions for your vouchers. There is a link at the bottom of the email for when your voucher codes do not work. Just fill it out and Plum District will respond … they did for me within 48 hours.

    • Rei

CF – If you haven’t done so yet, make sure to send Tippr an email regarding the Fandango voucher. They responded within a day 🙂

      • Carla

Thank you , I just emailed them and I’m hoping for a refund!

        • La

Yes, they replied to my email within a couple of hours. They apologized and said they were refunding my money 🙂

          • Kelly

The fandango vouchers from November had a January 12th expiration date I believe….If you got the same deal I did. That may be why they were stating the code had already been “used”.

  17. Sarah

Was it savemore or saveology that did the Barnes & noble $25 for $15 card?

  18. Debbie

I ordered the movies tickets through kbgdeals that was posted in late December. I just tried last week to redeem them and had trouble with codes. When I saw this post, I entered the codes on Digital Doorsteps site, and they said the codes had already been used! Yeh, right. So I have emailed kbgdeals and we shall see what they have to say.

I would echo the comments about Savemore. I did only one deal with them, and the original group that was supposed to fulfill the deal fell thruogh. Savemore did then utilize another group offering the same product, but it was cheap junk. Fake nails, but they were some sort of weird heat shrink plastic garbage. JUNK!

What sites do people have good experiences with? Groupon?

    • Gina Chatterson

I just got off the phone with KGB deals and they issued me a refund. Here is the number to call 1-866-706-3915. They were very nice:)

      • shyvixx

did you ever get your refund? because its been 3 weeks for me and I got nothing

        • Kat w

I got my rebate check in the mail from sharing spree.

    • SueG

Groupon, Eversave and Saveology have terrific customer service whether you’ve got questions before buying the deal or issues with the merchant afterwards

Gottahalfit credited my gottahalfit account when i asked them to refund my credit card after the merchant (mario the baker in weston, fl) refused the certificate. Gottahalfit would not respond to my follow-up emails that i wanted a refund to my credit card. I had to go to amex and as always they took care of it with one call!

  19. cw

I am so confused – do ALL of our vouchers from PlumDistrict, Eversave, Living Social, etc now NOT work? I didnt have the Subway/CVS/Fandango deals but I have many, many more that didnt expire until June. How do we know what we have does/does not work anymore? Thanks…. UGGH!

    • Brandy

No, it isn’t all of them. Just any that were for gift cards to be fulfilled by Digital Doorstep. Look at any vouchers you have and read the instructions for redeeming them. If it involves going to Digital Doorstep’s website, you need to contact the daily deal site for a refund.

      • CW

        Thank you :)!!!!

    • Morgan

No need to panic. The problem is with Digital Doorstep, not the deal sites. And obviously it would only be on deals that you have not processed yet that require going through DD to redeem (mostly gift cards and movie tickets).

      • CW

        Thank You 🙂 !!!!!

  20. Janneth

I emailed plum district request a refund couple days befor, about my voucher, that i wasn’t able to redeem at digital doorstep. They send me a confirmation email of receiving my request , but not a notification that they credited it back to my account. When I check my Account it was credited back to me. It was pretty fast and easy!!!
With Savemore I didn’t have that great experience until now I wasn’t able to redeem my cvs giftcard of 10$.

  21. Lisa

Let me not begin to tell how upset when I heard of this news earlier this week. I am in the process of waiting to hear back from the sites from where u purchase my fandango codes from. Still waiting ti hear. Huh!!!! Hope everyone else has better luck then me.

  22. Melia

So glad I passed on the Target gift card deal I saw last week…didnt understand the digital doorstep, felt it was shady & made me turn away. Glad I went with my instincts. Good luck to everyone getting their refunds.

    • Ashley

I was a bit hesitant too when I realized it was through a third party, but I decided to go ahead with it, since I’ve always had good luck and great service. Now I just hope I can get my refund!! I was really looking forward to the Target GC & Resturant GC.

  23. Emily H.

I emailed groupalicious@tippr.com and they already responded to me and said that they would refund my money for my fandango tickets, and they were really sorry for how this turned out.

    • Trisha

Emily, Thanks for posting this!:) I emailed them a few weeks ago and never heard back. Since it worked for you, I will try and email them again since I purchased the same Fandango voucher.

  24. seana

I just sent plum district and email maybe 1/2 hr ago. They credited my account for the vouchers and gift card I never received. (The Target/Restaurant.com one).

  25. Lisa

So if you have printed out your starbucks gift card with the bar code on it, will it still work? Guess I need to try it!

  26. Ashley

This is so weird. I purchased the deal (on Plum District!) and I am not finding any confirmation or notification on the website that I purchased the deal at all. I am searching through my email but I am very confused.

    • seana

I couldn’t find my deal listed either. But my email was responded to and $ refunded (Red Plum)

      • seana

        oops. plum district.

  27. JoAnne Roy

Kari C, you can leave your number all you want to with SaveMore and they will not be calling you back I believe now that this company is a scam. I did not get. Papa Johns Card a Barnes and Noble Card or the Auto Zone card. I have called them several times and can never get a person to talk to. I have left messages at least twice along with my number and they will not return my calls. I will never use them again! So I chalk it up to live and learn and as one of the other people that commented said, “Buyer beware”!

    • debbie

Don’t consider what u paid a lost. Contact your credit card company first Visa and American Express are great with disputes.

      • Jenn B.

I had issues with them too..if you go to their website, both the numbers re route to the same voicemail box. What you do is go to the bottom and click on their Facebook link. I left messages right on the wall. They removed it after, but they did email me. Unfortunately, they never did get back to me after emailing me and asking me for my email address. But I did in fact receive my subway card a few days later. I would just keep spamming their wall.

        • Debra

          Thanks,

I checked their facebook page. There is a list of bad comments. American Express has credited my money for The Autozone gift card, Papa Johns, and I just went ahead and disputed the Burger King gift card as well. I’m just going to let them to the leg work. 🙂

  28. Theresa

Points to Plum District. I emailed them, and within 10 mins I had a response back, stating they were issuing me a full refund.

  29. debbie

I have been trying to get in contact with savemore.com for two days. I have been on hold just to get a recording. My emails were never returned. I have not received an autozone gift card purchased in November and the link to the papa johns gift card is not working. I’m contacting my credit card company to dispute the charges. This will not stop me from taking advantage of any deal sites.

    • Jenn B.

Debbie please see my comment above! Hope it helps.

  30. amanda

Has anyone purchased the Fandango deal through kgbdeals? Digital Doorstep is stating that I my codes are already used which is not true.

    • Debbie

Yes, I am having the same problem. I did email kgbdeals earlier today, and I am going to call them at the number that Gina posted (thank you!)

  31. Gina Chatterson

Here is the number to call to get a refund from KGB deals for the fandango tickets 1-866-706-3915. They were very nice:)

    • La

YES! They were. Although they didn’t take the preemptive, they were very quick to reply to my email and to refund.

      • amanda

Do you have the email address? I’ll be calling the number also. Thank you.

        • Maggie

I contacted KGB deals through their website customer service link. It took them about 3-4 days to get back to me, but I finally received an email stating that they were refund my card the amount of the purchase.

  32. Jennifer

I bought the Target/Restaurant gift card. Both my checking account and Plum District account have been credited. I did the CVS gift card deal twice through SaveMore. The first time it went through no problem, but the second time I had issues. I tried to call them, but that is impossible. Kept getting the anwering machine. Sent them an email saying that I wanted my $5 refunded. I had no problem getting it refunded. I also bought one for Chili’s. I had no problem getting and using this gift card. I am still kinda skeptical after my past two problems. I think I might stay away for awhile.

  33. allison a

I got my cards from the Target/Restaurants.com Plum District deal, but I had to load the cards thru Digital Doorstep. Needless to say, the Target cards are only worth $5. But Plum District gave me a full refund. Love Plum District…now we just need another ecomom.com voucher! Good luck everyone.

  34. jeff

did anyone get their Walmart GC from Savemore that went through DigitalDoorstep? Still waiting on mine.

  35. Carla

I noticed this week that I had been refunded for the Target deal from Plum District. I was planning to use the fandango codes this weekend! Just emailed groupalicious@tippr.com…has anyone heard back after emailing or received a credit? Such a bummer!!! I love the daily deals and have used lots of them! Now I need to go back and see if there is anything else I didn’t get. Need to keep better track of the ones I order, too! :/

    • Ann

Carla read my comment about … both groupalicous and tippr had charged me crazy dollar charges here and there I had to cancel my credit card and get another number… be careful!!! Watch your account… I won’t be shopping like I used to on-line anymore.

  36. Court

I purchased the Fandango/Starbucks deal and had yet to use Fandango bucks. I had to fill out a dispute form because my code doesn’t work on DD.

Has anyone had problems with OpenSky? I redeemed a credit back in November where I only paid $5 for the product I purchased.
A month later I was charged another $5. I have contacted them twice now to no response. Very frustrating.

  37. Kathrine W

Are there any other sites that did the $25 target giftcard and $50 Restaurants.com deal? I didn’t do it with Plum District or Eversave so I have no idea where to request a refund at. I don’t have my confirmation email anymore. I deleted it after I entered my codes into digital doorstep initially. 🙁

    • Kathrine W

Just figured it out! Sharingspree.com also did the deal! I just contacted them. Hopefully they will refund me!

  38. Jessica

Props to Eversave. They are offering full refunds for the Target/Restaurants.com gift cards that were never sent by Digital Doorstep. Their customer service was extremely fast with their communication. I will use them again.
