Grocery Deals Coming Soon: Hip Helpers Needed

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Ever since I started Hip2Save (back in 2008!), I have always been interested in posting regular grocery store deals for my readers. My desire has been (and IS!) for Hip2Save to be your one-stop-site for the best grocery store deals/match-ups, online bargains, freebies, deals, and much more!  However, with that being said, writing and posting all of the freebies, coupons, samples and weekly drugstore match-ups on Hip2Save literally takes up all of my time (and my sidekicks!).

This is just a small representation of the grocery store chains in the U.S.!

So this is where YOU come in to the picture! πŸ˜€  In order to successfully post regular grocery store deals from all around the U.S. on a regular basis, I am looking for a select group of passionate Hip2Savers to get involved and become “Hip Helpers.”  As a Hip Helper, you will be rewarded for your time with goodies, packages, and other incentives on a regular basis (more information on the rewards will be sent to the individually selected readers).

Requirements of Hip Helpers:

* Know how to use coupons correctly
* Are familiar with your grocery store’s coupon policy
* Have good computer skills, a working computer, and Internet access
* Have a working camera and/or mobile phone with internet capabilities
* Are passionate about couponing and frugal living
* Are available and willing to write up the full weekly ad with coupon match-ups (which can be extensive and time consuming!).  Click here for an example of a Weekly match-up.
* Are willing to stop by your local grocery store on a regular basis to look for unadvertised sales and clearance finds (preferably at least once a week)
* Are willing to take time to answer comments and questions on the weekly match-up posts.

If you are interested, please complete the survey found here (or click on the Grocery Cart above). Within one week, I will read through all of the survey entries and pick 2-4 readers to become “Hip Helpers”. These 2-4 readers will essentially be the guinea pigs for this new idea. If all goes well, I plan to continue to add more and more grocery store match-ups so that I cover most of the stores across the United States.

I hope you are all excited about this soon to be new feature! πŸ™‚

Crapo!!! I applied and missed a part of a deal I submitted! And is was a great one…..bummed πŸ™

  2. Christine

I applied to do Wiseway Matchup for Northwest Indiana- I love that store and how they double! I would love to do this for hip2save!

    • Megan

That would be awesome! I don’t have the time to do it, but would love to read about deals for NWI.

  3. Jesse

My one suggestion would be to have an icon (southernsavers.com has an acorn) that denotes when an item is a really great deal. This is helpful for newbies who don’t yet know what is a great deal for a specific item, and helpful for those looking for items to donate, or for those at the end of their monthly budget/need inexpensive items. I really appreciate when these items are marked easily, visually. Saves me a lot of time when scanning store lists. Just my 2 cents πŸ˜‰

    • Ashley57

I think that is why Collin highlights some in red.

      • Jesse

Sometimes, I see she does. But other times I’ll see something (say, on a Walmart post) that is free or even better than free that isn’t red. And for those of us that are color blind (it is more common than you think) an icon of some sort might be more helpful than the color red. Just a thought- all I know is an icon helps me scan a list quickly and it is something I appreciate.

I agree like a 4 star rating system, just because its on sale doesn’t mean its the best price. I might settle and buy a 2 star of something if Im totally out or if I need it now vs buying a couple of something thats a 4 star to stock up. Thanks for all you do! This would be an added bonus for Hip2save!

  4. DP

Publix! Would love to see Publix!! How much time each week do you think would need to be devoted to this? Approximately?

  5. cathy

I would love to see Safeway on the list.

  6. squarejellybean

I would luv to be a hip helper I am a full time couponer but I don’t see great deals at our stores Vons, Food Maxx, Save Mart, WinCo here in Central Ca. We don’t have double coupons anymore it’s been years since we had double coupons πŸ™

    • Iris

The stores do not have to double to have a great deals.I live in FL none of the stores double( we have just two Winn Dixie and Publix since I do not count Walmart) and I find can find great deals.

  7. Vicki

I think this is awesome that you are doing this! Hip2save ROCKS! πŸ™‚

  8. Iris

.I hope Collin can include Publix store. Thanks Collin for all your dedication.

  9. Marjorie

Hope they will add Tops. That’s a major grocery store here in NY (western). They have deal’s this week like buy a pack of chicken 4-5 lbs. and get 7 items free. Rice, soda, baking tray, frozen veggies, nestle cookies, campbells soup, and shredded cheese. Also double coupons up to 99 cents everyday. And have gas rewards bonus points, catalina’s, and print out coupons at the register for items purchased. Something to look forward to seeing on here. Would help alot. thanks so much!

      • Marjorie

In So Cal…for Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Food 4 Less, Stater Bros & Winco, I go to southerncalisaver (dot) com. She does the best matchups for all the Southern California stores!

  11. amanda

Add Publix!!!! Please some awesome coupon soul, volunteer for Publix!!!

  12. Ronda

Hope Wegman’s is added to the list. Wegman’s doubles coupon up to .99. My first visit/trip with my wonderful cousin on last Sunday.

    Current finds:

    Colgate Toothpaste (4 oz) with 33% Free – $1.19
$1/1 Coupon (All you mag – Dec 2011)
    Pay .19 each

    Carefree Pantiliners (20 count) – .69
    .50/ Coupon (SS 01/08/12)
.19 Wegman’s double to free (no overage)
    Pay .00 – free

Alba Products (body washes and sunscreens) – Regular $7.99
    Clearance – $4.09
$3/1 Coupon (All you mag – Nov and Dec 2011)
Pay 1.09 (great price for these products and wonderful body wash scent. I picked up papaya mango and rainforest).

    Games/craft activities also on clearance.

NOTE: If you are a 1st timer – sign up for the card (have to show photo id and took only seconds) and receive a couple free items with coupons included in the welcome package. Welcome package also includes free Menu/Recipe book. Wegman’s also offers cooking classes for a cheap cost to include some free classes. I took a look at the available classes on their web site yesterday and if you have little ones, this is a perfect opportunity for you and you little one to have hands on classes. Just wish the classes listing were a little easier to navigate/find in your local location. Also, stop by the cheese department and ask for a free tasting cup to try out their olive selections (i am a huge fan of olives – the olives stuffed with ham and mozzarella cheese – yummy). If you go hungry, don’t fret – food bars from every type of food around the world is available. A must try is their cheese pizza (savings w/ card). Ranked 2nd best pizza I have ever had (New York ranking 1st). Wegman’s has free wine tasting – check web site for dates/times for your local area.

I have never been a fan of grocery shopping! After my 1st time trip, I could spend hours in the store. I’m thinking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thanks Teresa – I love ya.

  16. Shannon

We just got a Winco, anyone know of a good site for match ups? I am not familiar with this store at all.

    • Annie

I’d love to know a site for Winco Matchups as well.

They dont release an ad which is kind of hard for planning your grocery trips. They have a really good bulk section. I follow thecouponproject.com for some match ups but it’s not always updated.

  17. Renee

Please do Price Chopper in the NE πŸ™‚

  18. Gabriela

Does anyone know who does the best matchups for stores in Louisiana? Thanks.

  21. Erica

I would LOVE to have coupon match-up/deals for HEB. Besides Target and Walmart, that’s my only grocery store here.

    • lya

I agree HEB would be a great addition. I too only shop HEB for groceries.

  22. Danielle

I wish I had more time! One thing I’ve noticed that keeps me going back to some sites rather then others is those that do the unadvertised deals as well. Like Totally Target does! I know people have mentioned how southern savers has been slipping lately, but she is still one of the only sites I’ve found that lists the Harris Teeter unadvertised deals. My coworker and I usually make a Harris teeter list of our own using the EL, but it isn’t done until Friday πŸ™

  23. kate w

Please please consider HyVee from the midwest. I know they are in Nebraska and Iowa…as well as others! You are so great!!!

    • Bridgett

I agree. HyVee is our main grocery store around here in Nebraska. They don’t double coupons here, but they do some awesome sales.

  26. Amy D.

Would SOOO love to see someone do Homeland! I would, but I unfortunately do not have the time as they change their ad every Wednesday. If it were on Saturday, I would definitely do it! (^_^)
