Grocery Deals Coming Soon: Hip Helpers Needed

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Ever since I started Hip2Save (back in 2008!), I have always been interested in posting regular grocery store deals for my readers. My desire has been (and IS!) for Hip2Save to be your one-stop-site for the best grocery store deals/match-ups, online bargains, freebies, deals, and much more!  However, with that being said, writing and posting all of the freebies, coupons, samples and weekly drugstore match-ups on Hip2Save literally takes up all of my time (and my sidekicks!).

This is just a small representation of the grocery store chains in the U.S.!

So this is where YOU come in to the picture! ๐Ÿ˜€  In order to successfully post regular grocery store deals from all around the U.S. on a regular basis, I am looking for a select group of passionate Hip2Savers to get involved and become “Hip Helpers.”  As a Hip Helper, you will be rewarded for your time with goodies, packages, and other incentives on a regular basis (more information on the rewards will be sent to the individually selected readers).

Requirements of Hip Helpers:

* Know how to use coupons correctly
* Are familiar with your grocery store’s coupon policy
* Have good computer skills, a working computer, and Internet access
* Have a working camera and/or mobile phone with internet capabilities
* Are passionate about couponing and frugal living
* Are available and willing to write up the full weekly ad with coupon match-ups (which can be extensive and time consuming!).  Click here for an example of a Weekly match-up.
* Are willing to stop by your local grocery store on a regular basis to look for unadvertised sales and clearance finds (preferably at least once a week)
* Are willing to take time to answer comments and questions on the weekly match-up posts.

If you are interested, please complete the survey found here (or click on the Grocery Cart above). Within one week, I will read through all of the survey entries and pick 2-4 readers to become “Hip Helpers”. These 2-4 readers will essentially be the guinea pigs for this new idea. If all goes well, I plan to continue to add more and more grocery store match-ups so that I cover most of the stores across the United States.

I hope you are all excited about this soon to be new feature! ๐Ÿ™‚

Collin – Would the “hip helpers” be able to utilize your coupon database for the coupon match-ups? I guess I’m asking how the hip helper (I’m thinking of applying) would know all the existing coupons with their sources (ie, RP, SS, IP, etc) and expiration dates in order to do the match-ups.

    • Jeanette

      hi Katie
You can you CouponTom.com and it will have all the RP, SS, etc coupons in there

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Katie!
Yes, using the Hip2Save database would be perfect! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Katie

Well, Collin, let me throw this out there. I was thinking of applying for Piggly Wiggly, since it’s in our area (just not super-close to our house, so I do Publix right now). However, I just did a little digging and found out that since Piggly Wiggly stores are independently owned and operated, the ads can be different by region or even city, depending on the owners. I should mention that this is all second-hand info from calling one of the local stores, but I thought it might be worth passing along before you had one person do match-ups for “The Pig” that are not as helpful to everyone across the area. They do have a generous coupon policy, though, so I am going to start checking out the deals anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Laura

This is a great idea, and I’m excited about how it might develop! Hopefully there are some takers out there, because even though I’m sure the rewards will be great, I don’t think I’m ready to take on a task like that!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • MacKenzie

Agreed. I tried just doing a small portion of an ad before, and between matchups and typing it all up, it took me a long time, and time that I don’t have between work, family and my baby girls (my pups). So good luck to all of you who are applying because I know you’ll do a great job at a difficult, time consuming task.

  3. Monica North

Yes as said above any Florida people use southernsavers.com is awesome for publix match ups

    • Carrie

I actually don’t care for southernsavers and like iheartpublix.com better.

So if others don’t like the feel of southernsavers, there are other options.

      • Anonymous

        PUBLIX please!!!!

      • Anonymous

And yes, southernsavers is horrible for matching up coupons lately… blah! Would love to go to hip2save for everything! Def my favorite site!!!

    • Anonymous

No, southernsavers is not awesome for Publix match-ups, IMO. I feel there are lots of match-ups that are incorrect. I feel like iheartpublix does a decent job – sometimes the IP links don’t work, and sometimes coupons get missed, but at least 90% correct, which is great in my book.

      • MaryAlice

You can also try TheSunshineShopper.com (https://thesunshineshopper.com) for Publix matchups. I post them under the Grocery Deals tab on my homepage. I live in west-central Florida and I started posting the ad on my own after seeing so many variations where Publix covers. I would go to the store and then find out that something wasn’t on sale in my area. Hopefully, other Publix shoppers will find my ad-matchups and posts helpful. Which, by the way, Publix has a new program that they are introducing in this weekโ€™s ad. It is called The Best Meals Happen at Home. Apparently, you can sign up to receive weekly coupon and recipe emails, featuring such brands as Unilever, General Mills and Campbellโ€™s.

  4. cammy

Yea! Yea! Yea!!!!!! I love your site. I have gotten so many wonderful deals through you. Today I got the little blue glittery shoes from Childrens place!! This is going to be another wonderful part of the site!! Loving it!! Thanks!!

  5. Lori

I didn’t see any grocery stores listed that are in Pennsylvania. Would you consider adding Giant, Weis, Pathmark, Walmart, Redners, or Aldi’s? So glad to see this new feature!

    Lori

    • Allie

Aldi’s would be nice, we have them here in NC. Only problem is that they do not accept coupons, and do not think they will anytime soon, if ever! Kinda sucks, but thats the reason why their stuff is so cheap to begin with. Less over-head.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Please note that the image of the U.S. is ONLY a small representation of a few grocery store chains available in the U.S…not what we will be covering or hope to cover here on Hip2Save. Hope that makes sense!

    • ashley820

Check forthemommas.com for Giant, Redners, and Weis matchups!

  6. Kay

I wish I had the time to help but as it is I am really looking forward to this!

  7. AllThoseThingsILove!

If you are a blogger that does local matchups and are chosen, will Hip2Save link back to the original blog? I do Ralph’s, Stater Bros, Vons, and Albertsons for Southern California.

    • Catherine

bringing me back to my hometown! i miss stater bros! lol lived there 7 some years before making my way east. *waves* lol

  8. Nichole

i hope someone from the kansas City are does this, would love to see match ups for price chopper!

    • Laura

      I agree!!

      • Carter

        Yes Price Chopper please Collin!!

        • Kathy

pennypinchinmom covers some stores in the KC area

  9. Aliviah

So excited about this kind of cool opportunity!

  10. Liz

Can we vote? I like using socalsaver.com for Southern California sales.

  11. Ashley

please please please post this in the summertime because by then I’ll have my permit for 6 months so I’ll have my license (I’m 16) and I could do giant eagle and help you guys save while helping my family more! PLEASE remind us by then, I can email you with any found deals until then ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d be glad to help ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Jessica

That would me great if they had Giant Eagle and Tops!

    • Teri

Great for you to be using coupons and following a blog like this at your age! I wish I had been smart enough at 16!

      • Jessica

I’m 15. I would help, but with the school I go to I have TONS AND TONS of homework.

  12. Heather

wish i could help, just not enough time

  13. Audrey

    Afullcup.com has great match-ups too!

  14. Grace

I really hope someone from New York City does it too because everything is so expensive here. The Band-aid deal mention a few days ago were $1.19 at Target and there are no Walmart’s here either (CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens are pricier too). And here in New York, I’ve never seen a store doubles coupons. I really hope there could be someone from New York helping out!

    • kayleesmommy515

Hey Grace! I’m on LI. Shop Rite and Waldbaums double! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Emily

Grace I live in Upstate New York and yes a lot of prices are higher here. I have my own blog, but Price Chopper does double coupons and I have heard of one in the City but not for sure if it actually exists.

  15. Terri

Bargainstobounty.com has great matchups as well. I am really hoping that Meijer is included! Here’s hoping!

  16. Lynn

This is interesting but you might want to consider having more than a small few to cover the vast amount of grocery stores. For example: Publix doubles coupons depending on the state but Publix’s in Florida do not. There are ‘doubler’ store coupons for Safeway in the NE region of the country but Safeway in Colorado doesn’t offer that.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great idea…I’ll keep that in mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Tatia

It would be really nice if someone could do Giant Eagle and Tops! I live in PA , I would do it but with 4 kids I would never have enough time

    • Catherine

I hope so too! Tops is my go to store. Giant Eagle is once in a while. Baby here too, so no time for me at the moment.

  18. Janie

I applied! *fingers crossed* This is a GREAT idea! I’d love to use your site for grocery store matchups, rather than going to another site.

    • Jennifer

I agree Janie! I shop at Kroger in TN and the blog I found wasn’t even for my area. So I do the matchups at home on my own. I did apply do to that store though. We’ll see.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Good luck to you both! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for applying…

      • deedee

I am In the tn area Memphis tn and would love a friend and tell each other about the deals weekly especially Kroger. I save big there but not always.

        • MacKenzie

I shop at Kroger in MS and some of the sites I find that do Kroger match-ups don’t always match with my store. Especially the unadvertised sales that they post. It’s hard to know until you get to the store, unfortunately.

      • Caroline

I shop at Kroger too, in MO, and the closest match-up I can get is from TN.

  19. Jackie

I’d be interested in seeing Fareway or HyVee match-ups. Although I don’t have time to do it – maybe another Midwesterner can do it?

    • Kiley

      I second that!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Tera

Once I get moved to our new home in Macomb, IL I would be willing to take the Hy-Vee match ups…I shop there weekly and love their store. But again, I would need to get settled into our new home first. Please let me know. I just love finding good deals =)

    • Sarah

Love this idea! I have yet to find a blog that does good match ups for either of these stores (which are my only two grocery stores in central IA)

  20. Allie

I am so very excited about this possible opportunity!! I have the want to do this on my own for my local stores, but I just do not have the time right now to commit to a full service site. I do have the time and would love to help you out with my local NC folks! I do pretty good for myself when it comes to grocery shopping, I would love to spread what I know and have learned.

  21. kayleesmommy515

I just submitted to do the Shop Rite deals for the tri-state area. I do them for myself and my friends/family every week anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ I always feel like the Northeast gets shafted when it comes to Grocery deals. It’s so expensive to live up here, especially on Long Island, so I’d love to help in anyway I can!!!

    • Cara

Yay, I love shop rite! I’ve been using livingrichwithcoupons for the matchups for them.

  22. Lyndi Hedgecock

i vote for food lion and harris teeter! those would be awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Melissa

Don’t forget that a LOT of Food Lions are closing their stores and several Bloom stores are converting into Food Lions. It was announced about 2 weeks ago. ALL Food Lion stores in Florida are closing.

  23. Lyndi Hedgecock

also lowes foods would be great! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Cindy Wagner

Hopefully that will change and you will be coming to H2S for your Winn Dixie matchups!!

  24. Brenna

Please try to get Meijer match ups! I wish I had time to be a helper :o)

    • Justine

Cleverly Simple does Meijer matchups. I think her ad is out of Ohio.

  25. bree

can I fill out a survey for more than 1 store?

  26. Natasha C

I hope some one picks HEB. They are very tricky when I comes to in-store coupons and trying to stack them.

    • Vee

I am in the process of applying for HEB. They do have good sales, but you do have to look for them sometimes. Love this idea BTW.

    • Lauren

I applied to do H-E-B. I shop there all the time and do the matchups for my local site so it would be easy ๐Ÿ™‚ Love H-E-B!

    • Julie

YES, looking forward to HEB matchups!! I hope someone can do this.

  27. rebecca

Could you please add Giant Eagle (Cleveland, Ohio) to the list of grocery stores? That would be great ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks!

    • klromano

I just applied to do GE!! Even if I don’t get it I hope its included! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Karen

        Third vote for Giant Eagle!

    • sne3103

I vote for Giant EAgle too!

      • Megan

I vote Giant Eagle too! I live in Ohio and that’s the only store that double q’s.

  28. Melissa

Meijer would be great too! I wish I could help but I am not that great of a couponer just yet, I am getting there though.

    • Briana

Meijer madness does a great match up! Her store doubles and mine doesn’t but it’s much easier and quicker to do my own math then match my own coupons.hth!

  29. neysha

ok bummed to live in the middle of no where. I would be willing to do matchups in my area but none on the list:(

  30. lindsey soren

Awesome!! I have been waiting for you to add grocery stores to your site!! Hopefully you get some great “hip helpers” to find the best deals around!! I would love to become one, but my three little ones are my main priority right now.

  31. rachel rapp

Collin, I applied but put Smiths my afflicate of kroger so hopefully that makes sense to you. Also on my matchups I put found her but didn’t attach the link since I don’t know how to make the nice links like you do on your site. Is that ok? If you choose me I am sure I can learn how to do that quickly. Also I think kmart would be fun to do since they do the doubles twice a week. I have been coming up with my own deals and scenarios I couldn’t find much on the web. Please oh please pick me!

  32. angela fabian

I am in PA and have volunteered for Giant Eagle. I had a 21 month old in my lap “helping” me type but I hope my match ups were legible!

    • klromano

Hey fellow GE shopper (I’m in OH) … Just a heads up- I was in my store today and the Mission Taco Kits that are only $2 had $1/1 peelies on them!! Might want to check your stores!! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Karen

Thank you! I’m in OH-IO too!

  33. Robin

HEB match-ups would be Great! They are a tricky store to try and stack coupons b/c of their in store yellow coupons that they call Manufacture Q’s. Also, they NEVER double coupons so its sometimes hard to really save $.
Colin…thanks so much for all you do! I don’t know HOW you do it all!

  34. Carmelita

I hope that someone from NY applies. I would love to see matchups for tops and wegmans listed.

    • Christina

me to that would be great as I have found none out there. I have often wondered about Dash’s too, but have yet to go in one ๐Ÿ™‚ It is so hard to get deals at tops and wegmans, I get so excited for 0.75 and 0.99 cents counpons for the simple fact that they double. The catalina stacks at Tops are great now too for $1.50 off any paper towel package or any trash bag purchace. Target is getting harder as they keep raising prices, but how exciting some food deals. I often plan that our prices are higher at target than collin’s deals but sometimes its great when they are even cheaper:)

      • Christy Parkhurst

Wegmans! This would make a great store even greater if it was added to h2s..doubling is fantastic! How bout that .99/1 coke zero that was on Facebook previously! Doubling makes me happy! Lol

      • Christina

wow, I have never seen tops match ups or wegmans…Thank you so much, I will be checking in ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. Robin

Sorry Collin…I dropped one of your ‘L’s in your name- Whoops!

  36. Debbie

Does anyone know of a blog that does Winco match-ups? Or someday consider adding it to this Hip.

  37. debra

Stop n Shop and Shaw’s from the New England area would be awesome. Recently moved to Cape Cod from NC and OMG is it sooo expensive here. One awesome thing is I live by one of only 2 Walgreens on the Cape and they are SOOOOOO coupon friendly! I love that store!

    • -r-

Great idea! This would be so helpful in New England. We have Shaw’s, Stop & Shop, and Market Basket. Cost of living is really high around here. If anyone had the opportunity to do this, it would be awesome! I can’t because I work full-time but I would appreciate the effort.

    • Amanda

I offered to do Stop and Shop matchups- hopefully I get picked! I’ve been finding great deals lately ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Terri

Anyone in MA? Can someone do Stop & Shop or Market Basket or Shaws? Pleeease??

    • Terri

I wanted to add that I would love to but can’t..I work fulltime, part time and have 3 kids.. so I’m super swamped.

    • Andrea

I second that..Shaw’s and Stop and Shop PLEASE!

    • katee

MARKET BASKET PLEASE!!!! im in mass, shaws and stop & shop seem to be much more expensive than MB, i would love to have someone do market basket, i have a 7 month old and work full time so i dont have the time but i would appreciate anyone who could do it!

  39. Adriana

I really hope I get picked, I really want this. I already do it cause I have been unemployed for a while so I do this full time already and I love my store Ultra Foods. It has amazing deals, many 0.88 cents items that always end up being free specially cause they take expired coupons (up to a month but people dont even know). My mother and I usually go at least twice a week.

  40. Joy

This could get kind of tricky and confusing. Here in Central New York we have Tops, Wegman’s and Price Chopper. But the Tops sales ad in Central New York is not the same as the Tops sales ad for the Buffalo area because of gas reward bonus points.

Price Chopper also doesn’t offer doublers in the same week of the same region of the Northeast. Sometimes Central New York will have doublers and maybe Vermont does not have doublers that week.

Also, Wegman’s does not do a weekly sales ad. I believe it’s monthly now. Instead, you have to search by product on its Web site to see actual prices in your ZIP code. Even when Wegman’s used to do its own weekly ad, the prices were mainly for its own brand.

I usually follow local bloggers for my local grocery match-ups. So I’m just trying to picture how ALL these grocery match-ups would work on a national blog level. Also, coupon amounts often vary from region to region as well. It’s do-able, but may be a huge undertaking with lots of disclaimers. LOL.

Speaking of blogs, do you have to have your own blog to be a Hip Helper?

    • Joy

By doublers for Price Chopper, I mean special coupons that come out once a quarter in the sales ad where a $1 coupon gets doubled to $2.

      • Emily

Joy I live in Northern New York Fort Drum area and I do the ad match up here and my coupons double up to $.99 and sometimes there will be a coupon in the Sunday Paper for $1 Double.

  41. shirl

I would like to see Pick n save match ups on your site!

  42. Kara S.

Im super excited too!! I just applied for Krogers, I am in WV and would love to represent!!

  43. Mark

Besides shopping in regular stores using coupons, I have been shopping in the 99cents only stores with out coupons as they don’t accept them, and in many cases saving even more than regular stores using coupons, as the state I live in doesn’t double the face value of manufacturers coupons as stores in some states do double face values. I have noticed more families shopping in the 99 cents only stores. If the issue is the need to save money, but getting the foods one buys, supermarkets aren’t the only answer.

    • Briana

Mark- I know “Deals” isn’t a true 99ยข store but they take coupons in Springfield, IL

  44. Jody

Publix? Would love to have them added to the list! ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. susanna

I shop at Food Basic and have NEVER seen a coupon matchup for them on any site. Can anyone please let me know if they know someone that does a match up for them?

  46. Chris

Please add Market Basket for all of us in New England!!! Thank you!!!

    • katee

i second that! i’ve googled “market basket coupon matchups” but none are too great, i know any hip2savers could do way better!

  47. Robin

Tops Markets in Western New York would be a great addition to the store list for all of us lake effect snowers!

  48. Petra

I hope someone applies for Rainbow foods, or Coborns. They are located in MN, SD, and North Dakota.

  49. Dariela

I applied for Publix for South Florida! I am always looking for great deals for my friends & family…hopefully I will be able to help out my fellow couponers save as well!! Fingers crossed!!! =) Good luck to everyone that has applied!!!! =)

    • Melissa

The Publix stores in SE Georgia also vary. The one lone store near me in Kingsland, GA operates the same as the ones in Florida as far as their coupon policy and how items ring up goes. Then 30-35 mins north up the interstate in Brunswick, GA, & further on into Savannah, GA, those Publix stores double coupons & items ring up as they would in the rest of GA, AL, TN, & SC. So, whoever gets chosen for Publix (FL), let me be the first to say THANK YOU!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
