*HOT* CVS Coupon Policy Update: Use 2 Coupons on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Store Sale
WooHoo! I am so excited to announce that CVS has once again updated their Coupon Policy, which is great news for those couponers who regularly shop at CVS! Check out the updates to their policy below…
Two coupons may be used on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion as long as it does not exceed the item total
*Ex. Suave Shampoo is on sale for $2.00 Buy One, Get One Free and the customer is purchasing two shampoos; customer may use two coupons for $1.00 each and pay the applicable tax.
Buy One, Get One Free promotions may be combined with Buy One, Get One Free Coupons. Customers are responsible for paying applicable tax
*Ex. Suave Shampoo is on sale for $2.00 BOGO and customer has a MFG coupon for Suave BOGO. Customer will receive both items for free but will need to pay any applicable tax.
This means that I will once again start to promote using 2 coupons or a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon during a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Store sale for the CVS matchups, which hopefully means better deals during those sales at CVS! 😀
(Thanks, Louise!)
Yay! 🙂
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YaY thanks CVS is my favorite store thanks 🙂 They are the only store that doesnt give u a hard time about coupons.
I agree.
Yay!! Thanks so much for the update Collin 🙂
Great news! Another reason why I only shop at CVS!!
SWEET!!!! Thanks for the update Collin and Louise!!!!
I can’t wait for our CVS to open! They are clearing the lot now!
I just LOVE CVS!!!! That’s awesome.. Thank you!
Can you combine a 4 off 20$ and a 3 off 15?
In the new coupon policy they also say that multiple money off CVS coupons can also be used in one transaction.
I would think not, you’d need to spend $35 to use both. Just because they take multiple coupons doesn’t mean that you don’t have to follow the rules on the coupon.
No, the policy still remains the same regarding the use of their $ off purchase coupons (one per transaction).
Yes. Both money off coupons can be used in the same transaction as long as you spend $35. The coupon policy states as so, “CVS/pharmacy accepts multiple Dollar off Transaction coupons (e.g. $3 off $15) in one transaction if they apply
o Ex. Customer may use two 3 off $15 coupons if they are purchasing over $30.00”
Just wondering – how does one get multiple $ off coupons?? I am lucky to get 2 or 3 a month, let alone multiple in one week 🙂
Wow, thanks for the update, Collin! I will definitely be gathering up my coupons for CVS BOGO sale items! I am heading over to my local CVS today anyway! 🙂
Yay! Thanks, Collin! I think I’m going to start shopping at CVS again. 😉
Yup, I successfully did this already on Sunday night – used two MQs on the Sweet & Low BOGO deal. 🙂
Awesome news. thanks
I love CVS, but the cashier last Friday told me they had a new manager & she had been written up because of coupons. I was informed that because of the new manager they will only accept 1 like coupon per transaction (even though the coupon does not state “limit one coupon per purchase”. The manager wouldn’t come & talk to me when I asked to speak to him. I’m not planning to go back to THIS store. but I’m still faithful to CVS!!!
there are some CVS coupons from the Reinventing Beauty magazine that say 1 per, but most other coupons are a limit of 4. I can’t see how the cashier can get in trouble over that unless the first scenario was abused and she may not have fully understood why she was in trouble and thus limiting 1 on everything. That’s the only thing I can figure. I bet that manager won’t last too long doing things like that and then not having the decency to go talk to customers.
I had a RiteAid do that to me last year. I argued for a minute or two, then only purchased one of the thing I wanted, and wrote down the manager’s name. Then I called RA Customer Service, and they told me the manager was completely wrong, they’d make sure he was educated on the subject, and sent me a $5 gift card.
(PS: “One per purchase” means that if you buy four of the item, you can use four coupons, but not five).
I had something similar happen to me at CVS before. I had a L’Oreal manu coup that I attempted to use on a clearance item and the cashier would not take it! He said that according to the fine print on the L’Oreal coup “cannot be combined with any other offer” which to him clearance meant offer. Asked for the manager, was told he WAS the manager. I now shop at a CVS near my work instead of near my house to avoid him.
maybe its their computers because this happened to me too! i bought a revlon nail polish clearanced for like 1.24 and tried to use a $1/1 MQ for any revlon nail product(had a picture of nail polish on the coupon) and the cashier said it couldnt be used on a clearance item. she showed me her register screen and it showed that it was declining the coupon. i asked her to ask the manager and she said no because he will say the same thing. i was kind of mad but oh well, i will be prepared with their coupon policy next time that doesnt say you cant use a MQ on a clearance item so they will have to give it to me! 🙂
Well, the new policy does say “CVS/pharmacy will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.” So I would show that to them next time you shop clearance. I don’t know what clearance is if it’s not a sale!
My store always allowed this
Ditto, but it’s good they made it official.
Has anyone noticed that register generated ECBs aren’t showing up at CVS online? I occasionally misplace my ECBs and being able to print them from my account was a major perk.
yes, I also noticed its not keeping track of deals like my Beauty Club rewards or the Spend $30 on certain items get the $10 cash card. Everything is just blank.
CVS & Walgreens both accept a mq on a free item. The ONLY difference now is that cvs finally put it in their “public” coupon policy. So it’s not really a CHANGE. They’re just finally making it known to the masses. I’ve been using a coupon on a free item for years and all 3 of the CVS stores I frequent know this to be the norm. For years, many couponers have emailed/called CVS and have received emails/confirmations letting them know that they CAN indeed use a coupon on a free item @ CVS. I guess “hooray” is in order for those that didn’t know this or for those whose CVS staff didn’t know this…
That’s awsome! too bad rite aid can’t do things to help there customers…..
This is not new to me. It was specifically addressed in the e-mail from CVS to a Hip2Save reader which was posted in the CVS store guide section months back, and my CVS has always done this (especially since I printed off the e-mail)!
I have the policy printed when it was released back in September and it did not mention being able to use 2 coupons, so I wonder when it was updated to include using 2 coupons on a bogo sale??
Yep same here Jennifer. I emailed CVS last year because they didn’t have an “official” public coupon policy to refer to and I received that email too. It stated that a mq could be used on a free item. So it’s NOT new or a CHANGE in the policy really. CVS is just finally getting around to making it known to the masses in their “official” coupon policy LOL!!
Yay!!! thanks for the heads up!!=)
EEEEEK I’M ALREADY SO REALOUS. WE DON’T HAVE CVS. I COULD ALMOST MOVE JUST TO BE NEAR ONE.
CVS Is Awesome! Thanks for the update Colin – you are awesome too!
It’s nice they finally put up clarification on this, some stores do it and some don’t. I never thought it was right, but if they allow it, who am I to argue?
One more reason why I love CVS!
My local CVS stores never stopped accepting 2 coupons on BOGO (I love my local CVS stores) but its nice to have it in writing in case I ever run into issues Yay!
I have complete stopped shopping at Walgreens and only to go CVS. No problems or hassels ever. Have also given up on Walmart and only go to Target for same reason.
I was wondering about the policy to reduce coupons if the item costs less than the coupon, often called overage. Let’s say you have a $2 off coupon and the item is on sale for $1.50, they’ll reduce the coupon so you get the item for free.
Here’s the question, won’t they still get $2 back when they submit the coupon? This sounds like they’re profiting on the coupon.
I have asked about that and nobody will give me a straight answer. Seems if they don’t write it in the coupon they would get full value.
does any one know if cvs is still doing the buy 6 jumbo packs of diapers get one fre???
It ended in December.
Quick question for everyone – the new policy doesn’t mention using a BOGO coupon and a cents off coupon together during a regular sale.
For example: If there is a sale on shampoo $2 for 6. Can I use a BOGO coupon and a $1 off coupon for both items?
Please clarify! Thanks!!
Yes, I think you can 🙂 Use your own judgement though. If you don’t feel it is right then don’t do it. HTH!
No, I don’t think you can do this. The CVS cashier may push it through, but your $1 off coupon will most likely beep. The BOGO coupon is tied to the “purchase” of both items. For example, if you only bought one item, and tried to use the BOGO, it would beep since only one item was purchased. Don’t mean to be too simplistic, but it’s buy one, get one (1+1=2). If you add the $1 off coupon, you’re adding another one (1+1+1=3). Therefore you have to have three items to make it work.
Ok, thanks! I was just wondering since Rite-Aid allows that and it’s on their coupon policy.
WELL I THINK YOU CAN USE A $1 OFF AND A B1G1 THE B1G1 IS FOR THE FREE ONE AND THE OTHER COUPON THE OTHER IDK IVE SEEN IT WORK ND IVE SEEN IT NOT WORK
THANK GOODNESS!
I had three different customer service representatives tell me otherwise! I’m happy that it’s official!
I love my local CVS, as they allowed me to do this last week with the Digornios (BOGO and used $2/2 coupon). I’ve been told a lot was based on manager’s discretion so I stick with the stores where I know the managers and they know me =)
*Ex. Suave Shampoo is on sale for $2.00 BOGO and customer has a MFG coupon for Suave BOGO. Customer will receive both items for free but will need to pay any applicable tax.
Why would both items be free???
Because if the sale is BOGO Free and you have a BOGO Free coupon then they would both be FREE. The sale already counts one free, then the BOGO coupon would make the 2nd one free.
Ok thanks!
awesome! I was just re-reviewing some of your videos last night (I am a newbie). I was impressed that you felt it would be wrong to use 2 coupons on these……and now you can and feel good about it. I was in the same boat….not feeling it would be “morally” right to do so. May God bless you Collin!
AWESOME!!!!! HIP HIP HORRAAAYYYY!!!!
Wahoooooo! Goodbye Rite Aid, Hello CVS!!!!
Thank you for letting us know!
Funny story about a bogo q on a bogo sale: I was using the Skinny Cow bogo q when they had them bogo. I noticed they rang up at $4.99 rather than the $4.49 on the shelf. Cashier called manager over who had to override the price change (something about losing the bogo promotion if the price was adjusted). The manager was fine about correcting the price–until he noticed the coupon, then he became HOSTILE! He told me wasn’t going to price adjust and let me use the coupon. I asked why, since it wasn’t a price adjustment so much as a correction, and the store would get reimbursed for the Q. He said they don’t (?!?! Where do they come up with this stuff?) and menacingly told me “changes are coming.” And so they have! Next time I can pull out the policy!
Incidentally, I have never been treated so poorly at a store. Usually CVS is fantastic–the best for couponing.
This is the some of the best news I have heard all day! Thank you CVS for getting wise again!
i work at walgreens but im growing to love CVS! hehe
Hi Collin!
Thank you for this great news. I have boycotted Rite Aid after their change in coupon policy but now I will bring my business to CVS. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a link for us to let them to know how grateful we are for this change?
Hi Cindy, You state that Cvs has updated their policy on cvs.com….I cannot locate it on their site anywhere. Could you possibly direct me? I have tried the search thru Cvs but only coupons come up. I would like to be able to have access to this using my smartphone at the store but I just do not see it. Thank you.
If you just search Google for “CVS coupon policy” it will come up. The first link for me was the coupon policy, but it’s a PDF, so as long as your phone can open PDFs you should be fine!
Question: I have a coupon that printed for $3 off CVS Infant formula. I will not be buying any formula, so can someone else use that coupon? It has my name on it, but I will give it to anyone who needs it, just email me at couponingsusan(@)gmail.com
noone else can use your coupon, since it is attached to your card.
Collin Thank you!!
Thanks a lot, I am shipping back at CVS!
shopping (sorry for misstyping)
Hi,
Does anyone know if items you use a BOGO coupon on will count toward a total on an ECB deal? This used to be the case, but it’s been a while since I regularly shopped at CVS. I went in last week and did a bunch of deals, including the softsoap/speed stick spend $12 get $6 ECB. I bought 3 softsoap at $3 ea and used (3) $1/1, and bought 2 speed stick at $1.99 and used (1) BOGO. Total 12.98 before coupons. The ECB didn’t print, and I didn’t realize it until I was home. Was this fluke, or are other people experiencing this now? Is ECB still on the pre-coupon total? Does a BOGO coupon throw a wrench into that now?
Thanks!
Hey Muser! I hope you see my reply! I ran into the same problem as you, my ECB didn’t print on the spend $12, get $6 deal, which I didn’t notice until I got home too. I bought 8 deos’ used 4 BOGO coupons. Upon inspecting my receipt when I got home, several of the deodorants I purchased were clearanced to .94 and they seemed to have jumped on what turned out to be a monthly ecb deal with the same items (spend $15, get $5, which is what’s running on sale this week) I went back to the store and got it straightened out, but it was a fiasco b/c the cashier didn’t understand what I was trying to explain and finally another cashier came over and forced the ECB.
So look at your receipt where it keeps track of the deals and see if the deo’s counted on a deal listed as Mennan. It might be to late to go back to the store, but maybe you could call CS to see if they can issue the $6 ECB.
I know my Rite Aid manager would mention how they modeled themselves after CVS. I’m hoping this clearly written change in the policy (employees who were wise knew it already was allowed) in their actual policy will be noticed by RA and they will go back to being coupon friendly.
Does this mean I can use 2 BOGOF Qs on 2 items and get both free?
Example: I have 2 BOGOF coupons for razors. Can I use both Qs to get both free?
*they’re mfg q’s
DISREGARD, sorry. new mom, lack of sleep. 🙂
