I don’t know that much about Amazon Instant Videos, could someone tell me, if I buy a movie for $1.99 is it mine forever or do I have to watch it immediately and then it’s gone?

    • Amanda R.

I think you have like 48 hours to watch it…

    • AnnaM.

It’s a short term rental, not a purchase. There is an option to buy them too, I think, but it’s a lot more.

    • christine

you have 48 hours to watch it as much as you want once you activate it, but you have a month or so to activate it.

    • Amanda

If you are actually buying it then yes you do have the digital copy to watch forever:-)

    • Lisa

Actually if you rented the movie you only have a 24hr period to watch the movie once you have hit play the counter starts – you can watch it as many times as you want in that 24hr period. At the end of this time period the movie will delete itself (if you have transfered it to a TiVo, XBox etc..) or will be removed from your computer. If you purchase it you can keep it for however long you would like. This information is current as of today – just rented a movie and checked the time period for you. 🙂

I’ve got APrime but they’re not all free streaming.I LOVE the old classics from 1950’s & ’60’s 🙂

Had a hard time getting the credit at first – it stated that I had already took part in the promotion – which I hadn’t – I had only did it just then. Thankfully a chat with Amazon got that fixed immediately – they were great. FYI: there are some pretty good movies on sale right now for $ 1.99. I just rented Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (which I wanted to see but would not have paid for). Wanted to rent One for the Money or the new Underworld, but we are waiting for our new debit cards and I don’t have a way to pay the difference now. Oh well. At least I’m getting a free movie 🙂

    • Suzanne

Thanks for your post. I am having the same problem… it keeps saying I already took part in the promotion. I will chat with them and see what happens. Wish me luck! 🙂

Took advantage of the free 30 Prime account – hoping to find some of the things I want to catch up on for free 🙂

    • cdawnt

What is the 30 Prime account?

Since we no longer have cable-we do netflix and hulu on roku- I use my swagbucks to buy tv shows for myself and the kiddos. For the person who had never ordered-if you want to use the credit on tv show instead of movie it will stay on your account forever. Every episode I’ve ever ordered-1 is from almost 2 years ago-is still on my account for me to watch. When you order the time frame is included in instructions. Thanks!!

Okay, I just got Dexter Season 5, Episode 2 video with my $2.00 credit. I wasn’t given an option to rent, I was able to purchase for $1.99 so looks like it is in my video library indefinitely until I delete it, right?

  14. Marlena

where do I see if I got the 2$ credit ? Thanks

  15. Tracey

    Thanks!

It’s saying I already redeemed this. Strange. Maybe because my husband got it? It says one per customer, but I definitely haven’t gotten this before.
