Happy Friday: Kohl’s Cares
Sent from reader, Heather
Thanks to Hip2Save.com I have started entering more contests! Kohl’s had a scholarship program for kids who volunteer in their community so I wrote a short essay about my daughters (ages 6 & 7) who dedicated their birthday party to a local food bank last year.
They asked all of their friends to bring food donations to their party instead of presents. They collected $70 in cash (my oldest daughter who won is the one holding the check) as well as all of the food items pictured 🙂 We donated it to Some Other Place which is our local mission here in Beaumont,TX…the girls and I have been driving a Meals on Wheels route there for a little over 2 years. My oldest daughter won our local store division and Kohl’s mailed her a $50 gift card to get school clothes!! Thank you Collin!!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

That is amazing!
Kudos to you for raising your children to give back. Congrats to your girls, you must be so proud! =D
That is SO COOL. What an inspirational family 🙂 Makes my heart smile to know that these girls are learning to be selfless from such a young age.
Congrats to you and your girls. I too have been getting my 8 year old into giving back and enter contest. I want him to appreciate his good fortune and also be a go-getter do-gooder. We have entered several types of contest this year. Hopefully we will have some good news to report soon also.
That is awesome!
Awesome!
Great job teaching your children to be selfless. This will stay with them forever. My seven year old just told me she wants to do something similar for her next birthday and I couldn’t have been prouder. 🙂
Congratulations to Madison and her sister. We need to raise philanthropists and you are doing just that. Kids will have different trials because of the economy and may not be in a better spot financially than their parents once they enter the workforce. It’s a changing world, however you are doing a fine job in making sure people still care about people.
Well said!
Great..Awesome
That is really awesome! Hats off to you for raising 2 childrens who can at such a young age think of others who are less fortunate that us. You must be so proud of them. What kid can give up getting Birthday gift?!!! It is an inspiration to us to lead by example and introduce our kids to volunteering and donating.
Wow i love stories like this. Thank you for raising decent human beings in this world!
What a great Mama! Kudos for raising such giving children!
What a wonderful lesson you are teaching your daughters. Way to go Mom! Keep up the great work and you and your girls do and continue to inspire others the lesson of giving 🙂
Good for you for including your daughters in your selfless living. We could all learn from your example!
That’s great, what a good way to influence young and old alike!! & Your girls are super cute 🙂
What a great story!! Thanks for sharing! It made me smile 🙂
That is WONDERFUL!
Wonderful! This is so AWESOME and congrats to you and your cute sweeties and all that they are doing to make an impact in the community! Just AWESOMENESS!!! 🙂
That’s wonderful! What sweet girls. You should be so proud of them!
I am so happy that your daughters are excited to be helping people! It’s so disgusting some of the things these younger kids ask for as birthday presents. To have them hold their birthday party at a food bank is something you should be proud of, and it truly proves you are doing something right! Keep up the great work and have fun clothes shopping! Your kids deserve to splurge and treat themselves, too 🙂
Just wanted to say what an awesome parent Heather is! She is teaching her children such wonderful lessons. I see so many children these days that are all consumed with getting the latest toys. I am inspired by both Heather and her daughters and will remember this for when I have children someday. Thanks for sharing!
Thank ya’ll so much for all the wonderful comments they really made my weekend!! My girls are such a source of joy to me on a daily basis and I couldn’t be prouder of them 🙂 I was also blessed with an awesome husband that understood how important it was for me to stay home with them and he works very hard so all I have to do is supplement our income with coupons and a few odd jobs! Again, thank ya’ll for all of the wonderful comments…hip2save readers are the best!
Heather, I want to belatedly join the others is congratulating you and your family for being so generous. I also want to commend Kohl’s. They frequently send out teams of their associates to help with service projects in the community.
