Does anyone use this and what is the benefit vs ziploc/plastic containers? Is this easy to use? TY in advance.

I ahve the system and never use it. Find zip lock easier. Now if I had a deep freeze Id want to use the air lock bags

If you like to buy meats in bulk, and freeze leftovers, this is wonderful. You can even throw a marinade in too. It’s SUPER easy to use. I don’t think we’ve ever had anything get freezer-burned. The only thing that gets annoying is trying to find a good way to stack the packages (whereas plastic containers are easy to stack.) We’ve had ours for almost 4 years, w/o any problems.

I use cheap $1 store plastic baskets to “file” my meats like file folders. Easy to add the newest to the back and pull out the oldest from the front.

          Neat idea!

Awesome suggestion, Rebecca! Too bad you can’t patent that idea! Haha!!

Since this will vacuum seal food, it will last a lot longer. I have the handheld one, but haven’t used it yet. I would think the larger units are easier to use than the handheld one.

very easy to use. no need to buy ziplocks. you can seal stuff using their original package ex, chips, bags for freezer storing. i made baseball card holders using my foodsaver. if you have to ship anything and want to seal them, you may use this as well. i saved a lot of $$$ by using this sealer. for some reason this helps preserve food better than ziplocks.

It didn’t really take more then 50% the sealer, it took the $25 off (from buying the 5 bags) as a percentage off everything you bought instead of giving you just $25 off the grand total.

    • carrie

The sealer is more than 50% which would take off 39.99 making it about $40, since you are getting the sealer at $30 that’s about a 62% savings. That’s a great price for these especially if u live in a rural area and have to buy in bulk and freeze.

There is a HUGE difference between using a Food Saver vs standard Ziploc bags. No freezer burn (even after several months in the freezer), everything tastes as great as it did when you package it. We made cookies at Christmas. Just recently, I came across a few that slipped into the back of the freezer, 5 months later. They tasted like we had just made them. My son has a Food Saver. I am forever going over to his home to package my awesome bulk buys.I just got the higher end V3880 for only $77.15…Checked Amazon’s price, and it was $191! I did get 5 sets of rolls, which you must do in order to get the FANTASTIC deal! My total cost was $134…and worth EVERY penny. My suggestion is that you snag the best that you can afford. You will save the initial expenditure in no time flat

Happy JOY JOY! I’ve been lusting after one of these for EVER! And what a great deal. Not too mention I logged onto my forgotten Shopathome account and saw almost $50 sitting there waiting for me to put in an address!!! Yay! That makes the Food Saver deal even sweeter, as I can use the free money to pay for it! Thanks for the the awesome tip! AND thank YOU ladies for the reminder to use Shopathome!!!
