Question about the Worklife Rewards — Can you use the Rewards money earned to apply to future Worklife Rewards freebie offers? Thanks!
No, they do not “roll”. You won’t earn new rewards buying items with existing rewards money.
The Worklife Rewards are issued as a gift certificate. You just print it out and the cashier scans the amount–takes a while to get though so it will be at least a full quarter before you can use it. I’m pretty sure I purchased items from the free after rewards using the gift certificate. However, this program has changed a few things (other office stores have done the same) so I’d just ask first or read the small print to see if there are limitations.
You can purchase the items, but YOU WILL NOT EARN more rewards using a rewards certificate. It is well known that OD does not give rewards on deals like this if you pay w/ a rewards cert.
I’m not sure why others say no because I’ve been “rolling” rewards for over 2 years now at Office Depot. I also recycle my cartridges there and get extra money to spend. Just my experience.
I did this before and it worked great – I spent the reward amount on gift cards to iTunes and other gift cards they sell in Office Depot. Do you know if this still works?

Note- get 5% thru SHOP DISCOVER, also free in store pick up (NO MINIMUM ORDER!) change your setting to “pick up instore” and then choose your local OD as you go thru the order. Some items are indeed “instore” only, like the envelopes.

Can you use the rewards toward gift cards. I know at Staples you can not. I have never shopped at OD though. Also with Staples I always wait for something to be free like a softwear program after a mail in rebate to get my money does OD offer deals like this too. I just dont want to be stuck with $50 or more in rewards. Thank you
Hello Christina, typically you can’t buy gift cards with the rewards. OD does have MANY free after mail in rebate softwares, so it’s relatively easy to convert rewards back into cash via a rebate. However, all are MAIL IN as OD doesn’t have an online rebate program like staples. So it’s a little more work plus the postage to mail them in.

I personally find the Office Depot program to be much more difficult than the Staples rewards. The OD rewards take so long to come that I only did it once. By the time it FINALLY came, I had forgotten what I purchased. I dont’ like waiting an entire quarter. I’m sticking w/ Staples.

To Shannon and Jessica: Yes, you can use the rewards online. One MAJOR plus of the OD program over Staples is, you can “spend down” your rewards over time like a gift card. Staples requires you use the entire check at once (online) and in store you get a balance coupon only ONE TIME. Yes, it takes a full quarter to get your rewards, but you can track your full account status online at http://www.myworkliferewards.com and see how you are progressing. Overall, I do like Staples program better, but if you understand and make the OD program work to your advantage, it can be very “deal”icious!
I have a question…if you use a manuf. coupon on an item with a 100% reward attached to it, will your reward amount be adjusted down by the amount of the coupon? I have a coupon for 50% off any pop-up post it note dispenser when you buy any package of pop-up post-it notes. If the reward isn’t adjusted down, it’s a $5 money maker.
