WARNING: LONG (and boring?) CVS coupon story…..Just wanted to mention (not sure if anyone has mentioned this before) but when I used 2 of the CVS FREE Clear Scalp and Hair Shampoo (3 ounce max value $2.49), along with many other items, coupons, and extra bucks, I was a little confused why the amount came to $10 more than I had anticipated. I handed over another $10 ecb because I figured I had just added/subtracted wrong in my calculations. When I got to the car, I studied my receipt and saw a strange item that said “Taxable item” $2.49. And there it was again right under that one. I went inside and asked the cashier/manager about it and we were both scratching our heads when she said, “Oh! I bet it was those CVS coupons that rang up as items instead of subtracting it as coupons!” She also said, “This happened earlier today and I don’t know why that is happening, but I will issue you a $5 gift card or ecb for it.” It was about 2 minutes til closing and I told her that it would be fine if she did that and I would come back because I knew they wanted to close up the registers, etc. Well, when I got back in the car I kept thinking that something was still not right. By the time I got home, I had figured it out. CVS owes me $10, not $5! Since it rang up as a charge, that would be my first $5; but since it also didn’t take off the $5 as coupons, then I’m owed that also. Can I get a couple confirmations that I’m figuring this correctly? And also, has this ever happened to anyone else (or maybe you weren’t aware)? Sorry to ramble on….. 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • mel

You are absolutely right. I had a similar issue over the summer with a CVS coupon ringing up as a charge. It wasn’t til I got home studying my receipt that I caught the error. I called CVS cs the next day and the rep took my info b/c it hadn’t been 48 hrs so she couldn’t pull my receipt. A few days later she left a message that a $4 ecb was loaded to my card to make up for the $2 charge and to credit the $2 coupon.

      • Umesh

Happened to me last week. The cashier thought he entered it wrong. Now we know it’s the system. Anyways, I went back and got a $10 money card. I told them it should be $9.96, they said it was easier this way.

    • ann

same thing happened to me last week. Used free coupon for clean and clear and it charged me an additional $2.49. Went back into store and they gave me $4.98 cash back.

      • Umesh

you should get another 4.98 back.

        • ann

No, i only bought one, thanks.

    • Laura

That happened w my mom n I about a week ago. Instead of deducting the $2.49 it increased the overall price. When my mom tried explaining the total increased the manager seemed to get huffy anf annoyed. She finally deleted it and did a separate transaction for the shampoo alone. There she figured out the price increased rather than making it free! She FINALLY went to ask someone and said they had to run it like a manufacturers cpn. Idk what the difference is but we got the product free!

    • Kimberly

Yep you are right and the same thing happened to me with that coupon!

    • Copi

Happened to me recently. Cashier stated that CVS made a mistake when creating the coupon. They need to manually input the coupon for $2.49, if it is scanned it charges you. The employees at my CVS are AWESOME!!! and would fix it without any issues, even if it was a day or two later. Hopefully you can get it fixed and get your money back. Goodluck!!

      • Laura

Manager @ my cvs (which by the way just opened) seemed annoyed! The cashier asked her where we’d get those coupons…she said from the internet-her tone as she said indicated she doesn’t like coupons! 🙁

    • zil

Yep, it happened to me also. They just manually entered the coupon after removing the add-on.

    • debra

If you have a total of 4 charges for the $2.49 I agree with you. $5 for the charges and $5 for the deduction it should have taken off.

      • krizza

i just read this. i searched for my receipt and yes the same thing happened to me! goint to cvs to try get a refund! (Sigh) My cvs are not friendly. 🙁

      • roxy

Same here. I would have been better off without a free item. I noticed it was too much, but she only took off $2.49, not $4.98. I wonder if it’s too late to call customer service on Monday. That was like a week ago…

    • M

I’ve had the same thing happen to me on several occasions with other coupons. Now I watch closely as each coupon is deducted and point it out if I’m charged for the coupon rather than it being deducted.

Most cashiers understand the concept that it has to be taken off twice – once to clear the charge and then again for the actual coupon, but some think just because they took it off or voided it that it corrected the error when in essence it did not.

When I asked how or why this happens I was told something to the effect that the cashier must have hit the wrong key. But I don’t actually think that was the case since all the cashiers at my store are pretty good about entering coupons. Although no one seems to know exactly why this happens, they’re always happy to correct it for me.

FYI – I also realized that even when I caught the error and it was corrected I was still charged sales tax on this imaginary taxable item.

    • Nancy

Same thing happened to me last week! The coupon for the clear shampoo added 2.49 to my total instead of taking it off. Had to go back to the store and get it correctly. Thankfully the cashier remembered me and there was no issue–even refunded me the tax!

    • Laurie

Yes the same thing happened to me. I caught it when still at the cash register because it was the only item I needed rung up. Wonder how many people did NOT notice and ended up paying twice instead of getting the item for free!

      • AJ

I didn’t notice and I sent my receipt away for a rebate. Hopefully I can just call 1800shopcvs and they can tell me if that happened to me as well.

        • priscilla

Now I’m wondering if it happened to me but I don’t think I still have the receipt. So you can call that # and they can look back at your receipts?

          • Jen

Just checked my receipt and even though I did use the coupon, i did NOT get a charge. However, now that everyone is mentioning it, I remember that coupon beeping– and so the cashier had to enter it in manually. Maybe they’ve fixed the error now but it makes the coupon beep? I used it on Thursday if that is helpful…

            • San

The coupon beeped for me too.

    • Tarri

That happened to me to. And I did not catch it until I left the store. I went back in and the cashier gave me no problem. She at first just wanted to give me the $5.00 back with tax and then I explained to her that I should get five more, she realized I was corrected and gave it back. I saw her another day in the store and she told it happened again to her with other customers.

      • are318

wow! it happened to me last week with the clean and clear…i went back and got a refund, from now on im paying attention and check all my receipts… Thks everyone for sharing i though the cashier didnt like me lol lol

    • effy

No, I don’t agree. Why would you be owed double what the product cost. If you returned the items for a full refund you would only get the 5 dollars that they are worth. And since they let you keep the items and also refunded you. Then technically, you are not out anything, and you are in the same position you would have been in if the coupons had worked. So no. A $10 refund would have given you a $5 extra gain.

      • priscilla

But they paid $2.49 +tax when the item was scanned and then another $2.49 +tax when the coupon was scanned, so they paid $4.98 +tax, and that was just for 1 little bottle. If they got 2 of them, it would be $9.96 +tax.

        • Kimberly

yep..happened to me too…went back and got my $5.00 back

          • Andrea

Me too! I thought I was going to sound crazy going back in there a few days later to try and explain it but although the manager had no idea how that happened, she still just took care of it and handed me cash.

      • mel

@ effy. The coupon rang as a taxable item, so its like she bought 4 items instead of 2. That’s why she needs to be refunded the value of the 2 “phantom” charges AND get a refund for the coupon value on the 2 she actually bought.

  5. mel

On the suave, 1st deal idea, the suave coupon is limit 2 per transaction.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Thanks for letting me know! Just updated…

  6. Lindsay S

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the number of times you can do the cash card deal?

    • Laura

I know this past week the limit was 5 cash cards. I got 2 throughout the week!

    • momscouponaffair

      Limit 5

    • Copi

If the cash card allows more than one, could I buy $60+ dollars worth of products in 1 transaction and get 2 CVS Cash cards or do I need to break them up separately?

      • Shayla

It will come out as a $20 coupon to be used on a cash card. I rolled them to the next deal so my cashier skipped a step and just applied it as an ECB to my next order. Worked like a charm =)

    • cdawnt

The limit for me yesterday was 1 per card. I learned the hard way. On the cover of last week’s ad it had the big green block that included the cokes so I bought $30 worth of 12-packs and got the $10 without any problem. Then I did the deal on the 2nd to the last page for those things in that big green block. I bought 8 of the Finish that was 2/$8 and my $10 did NOT print. I asked why and the manager said I could only do the Cash Card once. So I had to go out to my car and get the other 4 Finish because she said she had to have them to do the refund, even though she just saw that I had bought them because she had rang it up, I had my receipt, and there were 4 more right there sitting on her register, ughh. Then get a refund on all 8 Finish, they had to scramble around in two registers trying to find all my Finish Coupons to give me back. I did two transactions because the $2.15 Coupon said only 4 like coupons per transaction and because their buggies only hold 4/12-packs I wanted to take them out to my car. Then after that huge ordeal because of the 2 transactions, 2 separate refunds, the coupons, and using 2 different registers they rang them all up on another card that I have (my Dad’s card) and it printed. So after that happened to me, I think 1 is the limit. I also thought since they were two different blocks of items on 2 different pages in the ad that they were 2 different deals. BTW, they also told me if I read the “fine print” I would see it is a Limit of 1. Well, after I got home and read the “fine print” it clearly says Limit 5 per cardholder! What a fiasco. I was in there 2 hrs!! The manager would not force print it either before this big hassle. Needless to say, I may skip the CVS deals this week.

      • mel

What a fiasco… question though, did the finish ring up on sale? I read that some of them were ringing reg price and not counting for the cash card deal. Before asking the manager why (BC many don’t have a clue!) just take a look at the tracking on your receipt and it’ll be easy to figure out by “amount towards reward” “amount needed”

        • cdawnt

Yes, I checked, my total before taxes was $32.00 and they knew I spent the right amount to get it, but they insisted that I could only do 1 deal per card so mgr would not force print it. I love CVS and they were very nice, Walgreen’s wouldn’t have refunded all that and rang it back up for me. It was just a pain and I’m not ready to go back in there anytime soon, but I’m sure I’ll get over it. Next time I’ll point out the fine print to them if it happens again, ha.

          • J

The finish not only didn’t count towards the cash card deal, they also rang up at full price instead of sale price. Make sure to check your receipt(s).

            • Shayla

I think that if you have a CVS that overlaps their sales (ie: a few hours on Sat evening), you will have major issues with these cash card deals and sale prices. I learned the hard way and avoid those hours now at all costs!

      • bea

        Hey,
I was just wondering if anyone did the coke transactions with the free coke 12pk coupon from the mycokerewards.com that Collin posted awhile ago. I went to my CVS in Goleta the Santa Barbara area and I bought 8 12pks (at $2.98), one minute maid (at 2.99) and 3 2liter Cokes (at 3 for $4) the total was $30.83 so over the $30 limit. I was told that I did not receive the cash card because the coupon for a free coke 12pk made me short and according to the cashier I had only spent $27.85. They said I had to buy something else to hit the $30 dollars. I bought another 12pk to get the card so that I could possibly go back another day with a different manager. I was wondering if they were right about the coupon, but I felt cheated because with any other transaction it is the amount before coupon not after that gets you the ECB or in this case CVSMoneycard. My question is if I am right to go back and complain or is the store manager correct?

        • Sarah

I purchased (9) 12 pk. Coke products to hit $30, used 5 free Coke coupons (from mycokerewards) and got my $10 CVS Cash Rewards Card with no problem–I think it’s worth looking into, considering I used 5 coupons and my total pre-tax was $30!

          • Rae

I was so surprised the coke coupons deducted $4.99 each – I had 9, so I managed to get 18 (my annual amount!!) for freeeeee! Soda is a luxury item for our house and my coworkers donated all their codes, so this was a true freebie. I can only put one can in the fridge at once, though. No self control.

        • mel

I bought 7 coke 12 pks @ $3 each and used 4 free cpns from mycokerewards. I paid $1.04 plus tax. $21 is on my receipt towards the cash card deal. Maybe you are in are area that the CC deal does track after coupons? I do recall reading over the summer something similar, where the tracking was after Q’s.

          • mar

My cashier (hates couponers) adjusted the amount to $3.00 when he saw that the coupon deducted $4.99!!!! I should’ve known better when I saw he was at the register.

    • Kris

      5 times per week

    • Janet

      i think i saw 5 somewhere…

  7. robyn

my coupon from the red machine for the aussie/herbal essence was $2/1 !!

  8. Laura

Can the cash cards be used by anyone? Or are they tied to the extra care card? T.I.A.

    • mel

Not tied to your card like extrabucks, so anyone can use it.

    • debra

They can be used by anyone.

  9. Copi

Here is a deal idea for the $10 CASH Card – Depends

Spend $30 on the following items = Free $10 CVSCash Card
    Idea:
Buy 3 Depend underwear 14-20ct, guards 52ct, silhouette or real fit 10-12ct $10.99
    Total = $32.97
Use 3 $2/1 Depends coupon found in previous pkgs purchased
Pay $26.97 Get back $10 CVS Cash Card

Final cost $16.97 for all 3 items! (about $0.56 each or better which is a GREAT price for name brand).

My mom is in these, and they are really expensive. Just thought I would share to help out anyone who purchases these on a regular basis.

  10. jacquie

For the Spend $30 get a free $10 cvs card.. can the purchase total before tax be $29.96 or does it have to be over $30?

    • Copi

You will get the Cash Card.

      • jacquie

thanks so much .. do you know what the minimum amount would be? is it $29?

        • M

The minimum amount would be $29.40 ($30*98%=$29.40). hth’s

        • Amber

It’s always 98%. So 98% of 30 is $29.40 which would be the minimum.

          • mfra

98% of $30 so it will print at $29.40

    • Copi

If the limit per card is 5x can you spend $60 in one transaction and get (2) – $10 CVS Cash Cards??? or do they need to be separate transactions?

      • mel

My sister bought $60 last wk and the cashier gave her 1 card b/c the paper that printed out to redeem for the Cash Card was for a value of $20.

  11. Leslie

I live in the Atlanta area and the Suave 2/$6 and the $4 ECB were ringing up here yesterday (Friday) and it was marked. I was lucky enough to find endcaps full of the Moroccan infusion with the $2 peelies. You can do the suave deal 6 times 🙂 got a ton of shampoo, etc to donate to the shelters here 🙂 ***(p.s. look for the endcap displays that is where the peelies were, not in the main shampoo aisle)***

    • Deb

I still have a ton of the Suave we got free not too long ago @ WGS.
Need to donate mine as well.

    • ann

I thought it had a limit of one. Will this work 6 times?

      • Leslie

I did this on Friday and Saturday, after I bought one set of $12, it showed an amount to hit limit that was $60 which was 5 more times. Not sure if it changed on the suave deal, I would say buy $12 and see what it prints on your receipt. Sorry I can’t help more.

        • ann

I checked with the manager at my cvs and you can do the deal 6 times. There is a monthly deal for suave until 1/26. I was able to do it 3 times. That is all they had left at my store with the peelies on them. Thanks!

  12. edy

Hurray! For the cash cards! Limit 5 per cvs card and next week too! I do my transsacions on $60 and I get 2 cash cards! Do 6/12 pcks cokes and 2 tides that’s my 30dlrs. Or do the gain we got 2/2 bottles cpns!

  13. Laurie

Thanks Collin!! Last week the magic coupon machine was spitting out a 3.00 off Almay cosmetics making the eye makeup free after ecb’s this week.

    • Malvie

I got that too!!! Nice deal.

    • Rebe

My niece and I got it too! 🙂

  14. Claire

There is a $3/1 Venus razor and a $4/1 Gillette Fusion Proglide Styler from Parade a couple of weeks ago to make an even sweetter deal. (Sorry – can’t remember the date.)

    • Jennifer

It was in my Parade from 12/16/12 🙂 Thanks for the heads up!

      • Heather

There are also Venus razor $2 off coupons inside Tampax boxes!

  15. Sara

I clicked on the Hallmark link for the coupon and it said deactivated?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How strange!? It’s still working for me?

  16. Sarah M

    Thank you Colin!!

  17. Krista

Anyone else have problems with the dimetapp coupons? They wouldn’t scan at my CVS, so the cashier did and override for me. I tried again at a different CVS and the cashier called the manager who said they wouldn’t take coupons that didn’t scan (I guess they thought I made it on my computer or something?) so I ended up just buying the CVS brand (it was cheaper). Seems like a CVS scam to me (making you buy their cheaper brand)… just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

    • Krystal

conspiracy theory much? many of the grocery stores i go to have that policy, that if its an internet coupon and it doesnt scan, they won’t take it. the manager can make this a policy if they want for their store if they are having issues with coupon abuse.

    • cara

my coupons didn’t scan either but they manually entered them.

    • Heather C.

Mine wouldn’t scan either, but luckily the cashiers at my CVS are fantastic! They manually entered them for me, and never give me a hard time. 🙂

  18. Kristen

I found $1.75/1 tresemme peelies and they were great with some stuff I found on clearence and the cash card deal this past week. If y’all can find these they are awesome!

    • jessica

Me too, found several tresemme shampoos clearanced to $2.24,used the $1.75 coupons also the $2.50/$12 shampoo CVS q, made $7 and got cash card 🙂

  19. Mandy

Question…I have a $2 off $10 cold purchase coupon from the red machine and wanted to use it with the Dimetapp deal but the total is 9.98, will the coupon beep or will it be close enough to 10 that it will go through? I only ask cause I know if you reach 98% (?) of the required purchase for the EB it will print. Thanks!

    • mel

you’re supposed to spend the required amount to use the coupon.. I know ppl post here all the time it’ll go through being a few cents off. I guess it depends on your moral compass!

    • Shayla

If it is a CVS coupon, just like hitting the deal for the ECB, they allow for a percentage of your total (in this case, $.02 would surely trigger the ECB). I have asked my manager before, and she said the register will take it. If it’s a manufacturer’s coupon, that’s a different story.

    • julie

If will work, Mandy! I’m sure that if you ask the manager or call cvs, they’ll tell you that it is okay. No need to worry about moral concerns over two cents that cvs will be ok w/. What a lousy two cents opinion over two cents. Geesh!

      • me

Lol, apparently it concerned you enough to reply… Why not just do the right thing and use the coupon as its stated? calling cs is a joke BC you never get the same answer from 5 reps. Same with a manager/cashier. One might allow , another won’t.

  20. Kristen

Does anyone have any extra edge coupons? I’m not sure if we will get these and I need this coupons! Lol I will trade for them!

    • Megann

Were the edge coupons in last weeks paper? I still have all of those coupons from last week…

      • Kristen

it is from today..we may end up getting it but we usually don’t get the edge coupons 😔

        • Megann

If you email me (starfillednight@myway.com) I can send you at least W edge coupon. The
Girls I work w/ and I rotate coupons so if I get more I will send you what I have!

        • Megann

I can send you at least 1. The girls and I rotate coupons at work so I may be able to get more that 1 for you. Email me (starfillednight@myway.com) and sned me your address. Ill get them to you this week!

  21. Rebe

A quick question about Ibotta. I checked it to make sure the Rice Krispies treats are active and valid at both CVS and Rite Aid. The Ibotta coupon is there, but if I check “redeem”, it shows me only 6 active coupons at all stores and none is the treats although I activated it. Any ideas?

    • Rebe

Never mind, it was not active…

  22. Stacy

Has anyone had any problems using ecb’s and getting the cash card. Today I purchased items totaling over the required amount and used $6.75 in ecb’s. There was also a problem with one item ringing up wrong. The cashier told me that what matters is the subtotal so if you use coupons it brings your subtotal down. I ended up having to buy more to get my cash card. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m wondering if it was the item ringing up wrong that actually caused the problem or if the cashier was right and I shouldn’t have used the ecb’s. Unsure what to do for next week.

    • Jennifer

You should be able to use your ECBs to pay without it affecting the cash card deal. It was most likely the item that rang up wrong.

    • Melissa H

From my experience last week with the finish tabs – if they manually override a price in the system (for something that rings up wrong), it will NOT count toward your total for the cash card. That could be why you were short.

  23. Brittany

    Thanks Collin!

  24. edy

No! If u buy 30dlrs of items! Don’t matter if u use cpns to bring down the amount you will still get the cash card! Also, if u buy 40dlrs it tracks on bottom of receipt and later buy 20 more and get another cash card. Also, be on the look up for clear shampoo peelies 3dlrs off, and 1.75 of 2 tressemme shampoos, and suave shampoo cpns, also, the finesse shampoo have peelies for a free yardley soap up to $1.99 – also, bought colgate toothpaste and the limit was 5 per cvs card tracking under cold the limit is 38 buy 2 get 3 bucks back! Did anyone bought colgate toothpaste?

    • C

I was excited to see a $3 off coupon on the clear shampoo because the magic coupon machine also gave me a $4 off coupon but unfortunately the $3 peelie coupon expired in 7/12 so the cashier wouldn’t take it. 🙁 oh well.

      • debra

wow, i just did that deal the other day with the $3 peelie and $4 cvs q, plus ibotta. Didn’t even look at the $3 coupon but now that you mention it, something beeped and my cashier who I use all the time made it work. Wonder if the $3 coupon was expired as well. Came to 0 out of pocket plus got back the ibotta.

        • C

my cashier was very thorough. she looked at every one of my q and then pointed out to me that the clear shampoo q had expired. i didn’t even noticed. i’m glad that it worked out for you. 🙂

  25. Ash

Where is the link for huggies $1.50 snug and dry .. It said print from here but there is no link. Any one know??

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oops! I’ll go add it in now…thanks!

  26. Ash

Can any one print for me huggies snug and dry coupon . I will really appreciate that. I have a little one, use lots of diaper.
    Thanks

    • Megann

I have this weeks coupons that have a snug and dry coupon in I
      t. Email me (starfillednight@myway.com) if you would like me to mail it to you.

      • Ash

Thanks Meggan , just sent u an e-mail.

  27. Marlene

I received a coupon for b2g1 free John Frida products in the mail…I found root moose for 75% off – $1.87 (normally $7.49) I bought three of them and ended up making 1.88 because the coupon took off the full 7.49!! yay!

    • Tarri

I got a coupon for $5 any John Freida product. Glad it took off with no problems.

    • Tina in east Texas

Oh, good to know! I got that coupon in the mail this week, too.

    • Jennifer

I got that too! It’s Buy 2 hair care get 1 free styler. I also had the $5 off from before, so I got the 2 root mouse $1.87 each plus the sheer solution $9.99. The b2g1 tool off the $9.99 and the full $5.00 came off from the coupon, so it was a $1.22 Moneymaker for me!

  28. Lindsay

Random. Just and FYI If anyone gets the free coke coupons from my coke rewards…at CVS the coupon takes off the full value of the coupon even if it is on sale. I think it might be something like up to $5.49.

    • Kidsallgone

Yes, don’t just get the 12-pks when using your free coke coupons. Get a couple other items and the overage from the coke coupons will go towards your other items. My “free” coke coupons were ringing up at $4.99, so it was about $1.50 or so that I got in overage 🙂 🙂 🙂

      • Patti

I happily had this happen to me, however, on my second try at another store, the cashier adjusted the coupons down. First store I bought three, gave her three coupons, and she gave me one back!! AND if you only buy one, the computer automatically beeps because of coupon value. Best to buy more!!

    • Shayla

My CVS will not allow overage on free coupons, although if they scan them it does take off the max value of $4.99. YMMV, but it is in their policy that you cannot make money on coupons to be used toward other items in your basket like Walmart does.

      • Patti

they should train their staff then to know this. I didn’t ask to be given a coupon back, I was in shock.

        • Shayla

No worries, I hear ya about training the staff. But in retail, like other places, you have folks that care and others that don’t. Hence why I have one CVS that I love and therefore, use them solely if possible, that way I know the “rules” and they do too thanks to us teaching each other. Good luck!

  29. Wendy

If anyone has any free 12 pack coupons from My Coke Rewards, it works great with the cash card deal. At my CVS the coupons weren’t prompting them to input the price, each coupon was just ringing up at $4.99. The first time I went the manager was on the next register and my cashier couldn’t get the computer to let her override the price and the manager said “that’s fine, just let them go through at $4.99”, so I was able to use 2 coupons to get 3 cartons of Cokes for 2 cents! 🙂

However, we did discover not to use the 3rd coupon because you won’t get overage, the third coupon rings in at 2 cents and then if the cashier voids one of the coupons, it voids at $4.99 not 2 cents and the only way to fix it is to void the whole transaction and start over…

I did three of the cash card transactions this week. Ice Mountain bottled water was in it and as this is the only bottled water (other than the much more expensive Fiji water) hubby will drink, I tried to stock up. Ended up with 9 cartons of drinks, four 28-packs of water, 6 bottles of Tresemme, and some assorted Hersheys and Reeses for under $25 and still have a $10 cash card! 😉

  30. Jennifer

Tomorrow morning, I am planning a trip to CVS. If you spend $30 worth of specially marked items, you will get a $10 gift card back. Here’s my plan:

    (1) 18 pack of Scott toilet paper $7.49
    (2) Jumbo Packs of Luv’s diapers size 4 $7.99 each (61 diapers total)
    (1) Tide detergent 32 loads $5.94
    (1) Dawn Hand Renewal dish soap .99

    = $30.40
    -1.50 (2) bags of Luvs 12/30 P&G in paper
    -.50c Dawn Hand renewal 12/30 P&G
    -1.50 Tide detergent 12/30 P&G
-1.25 Scott Bath Tissue(sign up for an account at scott.com)

    = $25.65
I just happen to have $5 ECB from a previous purchase, so I’m going to pay $20.65 out of pocket and get $10 back. So, I’m paying $10.65 for 18 rolls of toilet paper, 61 diapers, 32 loads of laundry, and probably 30 loads of dishes. Thanks Collin!!!!!!!!

    • Dd

Isn’t the $5 eb your money in the first place? That means you’ll be paying $15.65.

      • Jennifer

Yeah, the ECB’s are like CVS cash (but also a coupon). You get them buy purchasing certain items that give them. So it takes the $5 off my total of $25.65 so I pay out of pocket the $20.65 and get the $10 gift card

        • Marcia

I agree with Dd, your total is 15.65. Sure in the end you only pay this but I count any cvs eb as cash since that is what it is.

          • Jennifer

Well, I’ve rolled the $5 ECB over so many times, now I just think of it as another coupon. But, thanks for your wonderful insights!

            • Samantha

Agreed! I’ve had so many money making scenarios with the ECB they’re just a bonus coupon to me! 🙂

            • Heather C.

Yep me too, I’ve been rolling the same $17.00 in EB that I have for so long, I no longer look at it as money… just coupons to me too! 😀

  31. Megan

Regarding the “Spend $30, get $10” reward.. Both last week’s ad and this upcoming weeks ad have Coke as an item. So, I went to CVS tonight to buy 1 pack to complete my $30, ending today (Saturday). I was expecting to get the $10 cash card and instead it logged it under NEXT week’s total. So, on the bottom of my receipt I have $3 left to earn the reward for this week, and I have $3 logged for next week! Dangit!!! Should I just call CVS on Monday? TIA.

    • Amber

If your store has early activation, the register will take which ever week has the best deal (which is this week over last week). You could call customer service though and see if they will issue you your cash card.

    • jac

I had the same issue last night, and the manager was able to see it. He manually overrode the register and generated a $10 ECB for me. Can you go back to your store and take your receipt to explain the deal?

      • Megan

Thanks for the advice. I hate going into the store to complain since I get embarrassed 🙂 But, I will try calling and if that doesn’t work, I’ll bite the bullet and go in!

        • Shayla

all you need to do is buy another coke at $3 and it will generate the cash card. This week’s sale that is better…I wish I had waited, as I bought 9 last week for a total of $30 to get the cash card (and this week I would have gotten a 10th one for free). =)

          • Megan

I was trying to “complete” last weeks deal though. Anyway, just called CVS and they were great! They issued the $10 ECB to my card.

            • Shayla

oic, sorry Megan, I misunderstood. I stopped shopping Sat evening when there are overlapping deals since I had too many issues. Glad that CS could help you out =)

  32. Carm

A little off topic, but does anyone know a good place to use the buy any precision foam color and get one free john frieda shampoo or conditioner? I got this in the mail and almost threw it away.. Does CVS, wags, etc have it on clearance or for cheap? Thank you!

    • Janet

This week Rite aid has one of the best deals on JF products…1/50%(6.99/3.49) get $3RR with purchase of 2. I have a $5/2 coupon so that’s my deal AND it counts towards the monthly 50th anniversaty promotion!

      • Carm

        Thanks for the tip 🙂

  33. Sandie

If you log into your CVS account you will find a $3 off any Almay color cosmetics coupon to sweeten this deal even further! FREE 🙂

Almay intense i-Color shadow, liner, or mascara $5.99 = $3 Ecb (limit 6)
    Pay $5.99
    Get back $3 Ecb
    Final cost $2.99!

    • autumn t

      Where do you find this?

      • Sandie

When you log into your extracare account they are found under ExtraSavings

        • mel

not everyone gets the same coupons though.

  34. picchu

Looks like the Dial Nutrinourish lotion coupon is no longer available!!!

  35. Cheyne

My apologies if this was already written… On some packages of the AA/AAA Duracell batteries (part of the spend $30 get $10 cash card), there is an “insert” of $10 worth of P&G coupons!! Included are Bounty, Crest rinse, Dawn, Pampers and Puffs. Keep a lookout for these!!

  36. Brandee Abbott

Has anyone tried getting 3 of the $0.99 American Greetings cards and still getting the $3ecbs back? I know in the past, it has worked on the $0.99 cards. Thanks in advance!

    • barb

it did work on the hallmark cards for .99 cents

    • Shawna

Yup, its working for the 0.99 cards again

    • Heather C.

Yep, worked in NW Indiana yesterday. Got my 3 daughters their Valentines cards! 🙂

  37. Megann

Does anyone know if you can use EB or the cash cards to buy gift
    cards?

    • Txmomx3

      I was also wondering this!

    • debra

No, not valid towards gift cards. Sure would be awesome if they were.

      • db

does anyone know if you can use cvs gift cards to buy other gift cards?

        • Kidsallgone

Isn’t the “cash” card really just a different kind of “gift” card? Am I missing something here? Is there a difference?

          • Shayla

No, the cash card is treated like a gift card, however, like ECBs, I was told it cannot be used toward other gift cards. Hope that makes sense.

  38. Christylee

In my email this week I got a 20% off entire order….will this effect ecb or Cashcard totals. Such at Spend $30 get $10 cash card? I know manufacture coupons do not but never had a blanket 20% off coupon? Thanks for the help.

    • debra

the 20% off only works on NON sale items.

      • Christylee

Thanks, I read it wrong I thought it was including sale items not excluding.

  39. pl4ygiirl

I was wondering if you have to do transactions of $30 to get the $10cvs cash card, or i can go ahead and do a $90 transaction and get $30 CVS Cash card?

    • Amber

You can do a $90 transaction and get the $30 cash card.

      • pl4ygiirl

Whew thank you i was dreading doing separate transactions 🙂

        • Shayla

only thing is if you were trying to minimize OOP than I suggest separate transactions, as you can roll the one card into the next. In order to skip a step, my cashier rather than doing the cash card transaction to activate, just took it as a ECB on my next order. Worked perfectly.

  40. edy

Yes! At end of receipt u would get a piece of paper it looks like extra bucks u can redeem for 3 $10 cash cards. And if u do 2 more transsacions and you use ur cvs cash cards. And u can reload the same cash cards. I do my 150 transsacion at once and items to get bucks too. I have 54 bucks to start this weeks deals plus 50 in cash cards. Did the colgate deal and got 36 bucks last week the deal was 38 times! Had cpns for colgate toothpaste and toothbrushes for every 2 you would get 3 bucks.

    • pl4ygiirl

Ima check my colgate, in need of thanks 🙂

  41. Arianne

The Right Guard bodywash is not part of the spend $10 get $3 ECB deal 🙁 They rang up at the sale price of $3 each, but did not produce the ECB. I bought it with the 2 Dial hand soaps as described in Colin’s scenario. 🙁 The bodywashes are not pictured in the ad either, so I didn’t dispute it.

    • mel

I’m looking at my add right now and it says $3 select right guard, dry idea apdo (excl twin pks & aerosols) Or Total Defense 5 Body wash 13.5 Oz. not everything that’s written in the sale box is shown pictures. I’d have had the cashier force print bc maybe the bw wasn’t programmed in the system.

      • autumn t

I got 2 bodywashes and 2 dial and the ecbs printed

        • Raheela

I did same and my ecb printed.

  42. christian

The nestle Valentine candy is not as good of a deal. They are .99 cents each the coupon value is .79 so It is 1.57 for 6 after sale and coupons. Probably better off waiting for the walgreens sale.

    • Shayla

thanks, was wondering that since I know that CVS marks up their candy A LOT!

    • Heather C.

Yep, I did this yesterday and it wasn’t that great of a deal. Still a GOOD deal, just not great. But my daughters were happy when they saw the candy in the “snack cabinet” yesterday afternoon. 🙂 IMO it would be a good idea to hold on to the coupon for a Wags sale or even a better sale at CVS in the coming weeks.

  43. edy

The suave deal is 6 times buy 12 get 4 bucks! Deal ends 1/26!

  44. Dee

Has anyone found the 2 dollar peelies for suave shampoo in the Tampa area ?

  45. edy

Also, some revlon nail polish clearance $1.24 with 1dlr cpn .24cents

  46. Kidsallgone

OK, got a new interesting “fyi” from a CVS cashier. When I did my “transaction #1” yesterday, I got a $10 cash card. Then after she rang up my items for “transaction #2,” she said, “Hand me all your coupons first, BEFORE the cash card, because if you give me the cash card first, the register won’t take your coupons.” I was like, “HUH???!!!??” I had never heard of that, but sure didn’t want to take a chance and doing it in the wrong order (not that I was anyway lol); but I just wondered if anyone had heard of that or had an issue with it happening at the register? I had a grrreat week at CVS this past week. I think I’ll give it a rest this week though and start again next week 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Shayla

I don’t think it matters, as the cash card is basically a gift card. However, I would prefer to have coupons scanned before I hand over my gift card so no biggie =)

    • Patti

It’s because – if your cash card was more than your product total, ie. you spent $8.00 and your cash card was $10.00, there would be no balance due, therefore, probably too late to process coupons. Sometimes they can’t go back…at least that has been my experience.

      • Shayla

that’s confusing, as the cash card is not like ECB where you lose any when your total is less than the ECB (before tax). From my experience, I have used cash card multiple transactions until my $10 has been spent, like a gift card. Does that make sense?

        • mel

I always give my cash card last anyway, since I consider it my final form of payment (unless my total is more than $10, then I pay with cash or debit card)

  47. Nancy

Check the coupon machine for $6 off 3 Clean and Clear products. My CVS has Clean and Clear in the trial size for $1.09. Plus, because this is not a sale price I was able to use my 20% off. Cost for 3 is $3.27, less $.64 (20%), less $6 – definitely a money maker! Also, coupon machine gave me $2 off herbal essence and I had a $1 off coupon. Herbal Essence is marked 3/$10 but mine rang up $1.12 so I paid $.24 for two Herbal Essence.

  48. edy

Some almay eyeshadows are clearance $3.99 check before buying those won’t give u bucks back! But, with the cvs cpn u only pay .99 cents! But, the $5.99 will give u the bucks! Another customer bought $120. Cash card deals so she got the receipt for 4 cash cards but, manager had trouble trying to give her the cash cards. So, she gave her 4 $10 bucks so, 40 bucks on amounts of 10 which. Customer was happy anyways,

Does anyone else use the CVS greentag? (shop 4 times without getting a plastic bag and get $1 buck) I seem to be having an issue with mine not printing the $1 buck after every 4th time. I just realized it stopped working recently and will ask at the store on my next visit but wanted to see if anyone else noticed it. My receipt says 11 towards it and 1 more needed. It used to start over after each 4th time. Maybe they changed the program and I missed the details.

I have noticed that I’m not receiving my ECB’s for the green tag either. I think that mine is being used by someone else. I have an app on my iPhone that is called Key Ring and you can either enter the bar code or take a picture of the bar code. The bar codes that you enter is then stored on your phone. Then when checking out, the cashier can simply scan my phone so I never have to carry it around. However, I think that someone might have gotten a hold of my bar code number, before I purchased it and we are piggy backing off of each other. Thinking I might replace my card just to be on the safe side.

FYI – All greenbag tag barcodes are the same, one scan per card per day allowed. It worked the week after Christmas but looks like they may have changed after the 1st of the year according to the reader’s post below.

I was told by a cashier that cvs is no longer doing the greentag program.

On my receipt the other day it said I needed 1 for the reward (or something like that) and when I shopped yesterday, I scanned my tag and then it printed a $1 ecb on my receipt, so mine is still working 🙂

A cashier told me that as of Jan 16th they are no longer going to hold the green bag tag progra! Bummer!

why the 16th? Seems like such an odd date to end a program. anyway, I shopped yesterday and got my $1 gbt eb. I’m sure if the program was ending, the cashier would have told me something when I checked out. She’s on top of everything (even told me about the rx program before I got my postcard)

made a purchase today and got credit for my GBT scan. Asked the cashier about it ending, and she said not that she knows of, hasn’t seen a memo or announcement.
