In this new video, I will share with you several different ways to save money on both Frozen Pizza and Delivery Pizza! If your kiddos, friends and family love pizza as much as my family does, then this is one video that you’ll definitely want to watch! On a side note, this video was filmed back in March prior to my hubby and I following a primarily Gluten-Free diet; at this time, we are in search of the best Gluten-Free Pizzas (maybe I will do another video when I find my favorite! :D).

Thank you Collin for the tips on how to save on both frozen pizzas & others, but what I would really like to know is where did you get that gorgeous scarf & off the shoulder sweater you are wearing in the video!! Always the fashionista!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awe… thanks! 🙂 I got my sweater from Forever 21 a while ago and the scarf was a gift (so I’m not sure where it’s from).

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW! 🙂

Favorite gluten free pizza: substitute roasted portabellos for the crust! Yum!!! My meat eating, double stuffed, wont touch a veg father even eats it & enjoys it!! Or using Cup4Cup flour as a substitute in ordinary pizza crust recipes, yum! Makes me wish it wasn’t 100 degrees out so I could crank up the oven & make pizza for dinner!

  5. mar

So I don’t have tips, but wanted to thank for always giving us great tips and looking so great! Gave me a couple of ideas:)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You are most welcome! 🙂

Thank you, never would have thought to check Retail Me Not for PIZZA codes! A few other ways to save in my area: Our high school football team sells savings cards every year as a fundraiser. The privately owned pizza shop in town is always one of the businesses on it. If you tell them you have a “Raider Card” when you place your order and show it at pick up, you get a discount, 2 Cheese Pizzas for $15 or something along those lines. Also, our local Domino’s has a special Family Pizza Night deal every week on a certain weeknight (I’m thinking it might be Wed.) between certain times. Good night of the week to have a standing family pizza night tradition! You might be able to come across deals like this in your town, too. I know those discount card fundraisers are popular.

We save by making our own pizza. If you don’t mind the work (I consider it just a part of my Friday routine) making your own dough is pretty simple ingredients wise and you can easily make it healthy too. It is slightly time consuming (~10 minutes of hand kneading) unless you have a kitchenaid. Even if you don’t want to do that, you can usually buy premade pizza dough at most places for around $1-$1.50. We use plain tomato sauce and make it fresh by adding our own garlic and herbs. I have only purchased pizza out once this year and it made me cringe to think how many I could have made for myself for the same price. Although, it is really yummy and fun getting delivery!!! =)

    • Linda

      Hi Sarah,
I make my own pizza crust too. Here is a tip to make kneading easier if you don’t do this already. Once you get your ingredients combined, let the dough rest for 5-10 minutes before kneading. It goes much faster and easier.

Also I used Dei Fratelli pizza sauce. In my area it is about 1.59 per can and I get 4 medium size pizzas per can. Of course I stock up when it’s on sale.

    • mariel

      love this tip! thanks ashley!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Very cool… I didn’t know this! 🙂

  8. beachwives

I love Udi’s pizza crusts, they are thin and come in a two pack – very easy to add my own toppings and bake…and I typically can find Udi’s coupons online to use.

  9. linda

If there’s a Vote For the Worst Frozen Pizza, which one would you vote?

    • linda

      mine would be Totino’s

      • Ashley57

AW man, I love Totinos! I would vote Tombstone. I love Digorno and Freshetta rising crust.

        • J

Totino’s would be on my list too! I stocked up on them during a sale and regretted ever buying them!!

    • Laura

Celeste. I threw it out. I NEVER do that.

      • Katelyn Bellingham

Totally agree Laura!! Celeste pizza actually gave me sores in my mouth because the sauce was so acidic after ONE BITE! BLECH!

      • linda

Oh lol, Laura. Thanks for reminding me of Celeste! It’s too bad I deleted it in my brain. LOL.

  10. jess

I got a bread machine from freecycle for free. I make pizza dough and use tomato sauce that I buy on sale or with a coupon and some cheese. I am able to make 2 large pizzas from the dough. So we eat one right away and then I freeze one for later and cook as I would a frozen pizza.

  11. Laura

I LOVE shoprunner! Just ordered Dominos last night. 🙂

    • Colleen

same here! 2 medium 2 toppings came to like $13 and then tip! so yummy!!

  12. Ann

I have celiac, so gluten-free pizza is all I can do. My favorite by far is Udi’s pizza. Both the four-cheese and pepperoni versions are excellent. Runner-up is Amy’s rice crust pizza (the one that’s GF but not dairy-free).

  13. boxbot

Chebe makes a good GF pizza crust. Pizza Extreme chain has good GF pizza.

    • Christina

Chebe is one of my favorite crusts for a homemade GF pizza. Even the gluten eaters love it.

  14. cindi

also don’t forget that papa johns and several other companies offer pizza reward clubs – so you get one free after a certain number of pizzas you buy – and pizzas ordered with coupons and discounts still count towards the rewards!

    • Elizabeth

My local papa johns has a carry-out punch card. Buy so many pizzas and get one free. This is in addition to the online reward program. The cards are usually sitting on the counter.

  15. kelly

Most of the GF pizza crusts are thin & I tend to prefer a thicker crust. I use Bob’s Red Mill pizza crust mix, which I buy cheaper from Amazon, use olive oil & add Italian seasoning & everyone loves it! One package makes a huge pizza.

  16. Carrie

The Bob’s Red Mill mix is good as is Udi’s premade. I like the Schar crust as well. I personally hate the Amy’s GF pizza so much that I called to store I bought it from to tell them how bad it was. Dominos also makes a GF pizza (shocking I know) and it’s not that bad. Definitely try Joan’s Great Bakes as well. If your local store doesn’t carry them then they ship everywhere. They have awesome pizza, bagels, bialys, and muffins. My local bagel shop started carrying them because they said they couldn’t make a fresh product that was as good as theirs.

  17. Judy

I use naan bread as a crust. Barbecue sauce, mushrooms, onions and diced cooked chicken. Then some shredded cheddar cheese. So good!

  18. VB

One thing to look out for is special promotions I can’t think of the brand of pizza but there was one that if you bought a certain number with specially marked boxes there was codes that you entered and you got a movie ticket. We go to the movies a lot so these promos always draw us in!
I make homemade pizza whenever I make omelets. I use spinach, green peppers, mushrooms, red onions in my omelets so a pizza is an easy way to use the left over veggies that same night and it makes for a quick dinner since they veggies are already chopped.

  19. Leah Grady

Don’t buy pizza 🙂 I am just kidding! I love pizza! Pizza hut pizza is the best

  20. tilla ham

garlic jims has the best gluten free pizza and it’s only 3 dollars more than regular.

    • Anna

I agree that Garlic Jims Gluten free pizza beats all others. I have even found her in the Pacific NW Whole Foods carries a frozen Garlic Jims GF Pizza. If I can’t find it my second choice is Udis. Beware of Dominos GF-if you are super sensitive. It made my sister sick. Garlic Jims uses GF flours to toss the gluten pizza so less chance for cross contamination.

  21. Sarah H.

Love the art behind you! What a cute idea for display. And on the topic of frozen pizza, Red Baron has a deal for a free movie ticket (Iron Man is on the cover of the box, but you don’t have to see Iron Man) with the purchase of 4 pizzas — limit 2 per household, expires 9/30. Basically makes the pizza free for me!

  22. Jean

Collin, since you’re gluten free have you heard of GMO’s which are in most corn, wheat and soy products. I just recently discovered that the FDA doesn’t require companies to reveal that their products contain Genetically Modified Organisms. It’s really scary.

  23. wifeylife

In the Midwest, Pizza Ranch has a decent gluten-free delivery pizza and there are usually lots of local fundraiser cards etc. plus they have their Ranch Rewards program. Also, if you like to make your own but don’t like to mess with dough–many local bread shops sell pizza dough on Fridays and you can also just buy crusts at many papa murphy’s–you don’t have to get there whole kit. I haven’t done it lately but is used to be like $3 for just a crust.

  24. Nichole

Gluten Free Pizza: Our local Papa Murphy’s will put toppings on your own crust. I buy the Udi’s crust, leave it in the package and bring it into Papa Murphy’s for whatever toppings we want! At $3 per pizza, it’s a pretty good deal and tastes alot like the ‘real thing’ but without the gluten! 🙂

    https://www.food.com/recipe/oatmeal-pizza-crust-371657

my daughter is allergic to wheat, dairy, & tomato(til recently) so when she got to eat tomatoes again(after 6 mos off of all three of those), she wanted pizza! well, GF pizza with soy free dairy free “cheese” and I tend to go more for flours that have some nutritional value when I substitute so I use alot of oat flour for muffins and pancakes and cookies, etc. we tried the crust i listed above and she loved it. 5 simple ingredients and super easy to make. you can even grind your own oatmeal for flour if you cant find it easily/inexpensively, and the other ingredients are just yeast, salt sugar and water…

  26. Leah

I live in a town that has a large university. Pizza places around here are always advertising special prices for the college crowd. For example, there are several billboards here for $5.99 Large 2 topping pizzas from Papa Johns. The trick is reminding them of their advertised prices when you call as they won’t automatically give it to you.

  27. Karen

Just went to the store after watching your video and found Red Barons 3/$10 so I picked up 1 rising crust and 2 classics. I have to agree with you that it is pretty good. I made the rising crust one. I liked it and so did my kids. Thanks for the tip!

  28. lisa

We love to make pizza from scratch at home. We have a super quick pizza dough recipe and then add whatever sauce and topping you like! If we buy pizza, then you can’t beat Costco for $10!

  29. allfor2cuties

Thank you! Love your videos with all your tips. Would love for a tour of your new home and all the organizing tips you do!!!! Just an idea 😉

  30. R

collin, smoky mountain pizza has gluten free pizza and pasta too.

we’re in twin falls and our local maxie’s pizza uses cloverstone bakery’s GF crust (out of ketchum). i quite like it. the owners daughter and mother i believe are celiac so they are extra careful with cross contamination etc. looks like you can buy cloverstone’s pizza crust in boise… https://cloverstonebakery.com/where-to-buy/
