My son just decided he wants one of these for Christmas, but I’m conflicted. Think there will be better deals as it nears? I did get the combo (gift card, case, Fire HD) for myself and it was such an incredible deal that I’m hesitant to jump on just 159.00. Help! Would you wait?
Are they ready to come out with a newer version? if so, the price may drop in the near future. On the other hand, the prices of all electronics tend to drop over time, and there will always be sales for Christmas.

My cousin has had one for a couple of years and LOVES hers. She actually just bought a new one because her daughters have taken over hers. They LOVE reading on it. And the games/movies don’t hurt ;)!
General consensus is a new one will be coming out within a month. Not only is this the second time Amazon has had it on sale, Staples is sold out of them on-line at the $159 price and Best Buy is selling them at the same price. It is likely they are clearing out the inventory for the new one to come out. Rumor has it the new ones will have a faster processor, different corners, a front and back facing camera and maybe be thinner. That being said, I have ordered two (one for my ten year old and one for my eight and five year old to share) for Christmas presents because none of those things are important enough for me to wait and see if I can get the newer one on sale. For what we are going to use it for – predominately reading – this is all we need. I would guess price-wise, this is going to be as good as this model is going to get. If you are a techy and want the latest and greatest, expect a fall release of a newer model for the holiday buying season.

how do you create a college account with amazon
You need to have a .edu email address and you use that address to sign into amazon. At least that’s my understanding.
Best Buy disclosed they will be selling this exact model for $99.99 on Black Friday. (I personally would rather pay the extra $ rather than stand in line for just a chance but I know many people love doing Black Friday)
