If you wait until Saturday to purchase this in store when they offer a $5/$25 you can buy 8 and use 4 coupons and each bottle would only cost $.75!

    • Tara Murray (@stpatty3172000)

      NICE!!!!

    • robin roberts

if i am not mistaken .. the 5 off 25 has to be after all coupons.. so your total would have to be 25 after all your coupons are taken off.. then use the 5.. so your final total is like 20 plus tax….

      • Nikki

I thought it was handed first and that’s fine? Hmmmm

      • Ava

I read that in the small prints below it, but I think my ad says get $5 off your next purchase instead of $5 off instantly.

  2. Rh

Is all free and clear included?

    • oksanab

      Yes

  3. Brandy

Could I use a $5 off $25 on this as well?

    • Debbie

You can, but you will need to make sure that your total is still $25 after the $5 discount.

  4. Brandy

I actually just read the fine print of this and it says the net price determined after all discounts, offers and coupons. It also says it’s not valid with any other DG coupon offer so I guess that blows the whole $5/$25 deal.

    • cpefley

That makes sense, but it was a bummer. 🙁

My local store would not accept this sale with my coupons ; ( my fellow couponer friend said her store which is in another part of houston is not offering it

    • Christi

My store in Springfield MA would not accept the coupons either. They said because the items are on sale they can’t accept coupons… Never heard a policy like that… I’m thinking it was a made up answer since the register wouldn’t accept the coupons.

      • bran

I got the same thing at 2 different stores!! I was so aggravated! At one store, the guy said I can take $1.50 per bottle, and I said ok that is the same thing. Well, he took $1.50 off 3 times and I had 6 bottles. Then he said that’s all I can do. I asked for my coupons back & left!

  6. Angela H.

Worked for me near New Orleans 😀

    • Courtney

Yay, someone else from Louisiana! 🙂 I’m closer to Baton Rouge though. Haven’t tried this deal yet.

      • Pamela

I had the same “no coupons on sale items” reply and a very rude attitude at the Lobdell Hwy store in Port Allen…

  7. Nicole

Does anyone have corporate’s number? I’ve been to two stores and both refuse to take my coupons even though coupon policy states it’s 1 manufactor coupon and 1 store coupon per item!!

    • Tiffany

They are no help… trust me, just called… all they said was a district manager would contact, which they never do. Wouldn’t give me their email address either… heck they couldn’t even tell me who the store manager was. 1-877-436-1553

  8. Lana

I saw this on another blog this AM and did not think it would work. Left a comment stating so and was blasted by the blog owner. I don’t understand why we think the fine print never applies to us.

    • Tiffany

What fine print are you speaking of? This would work just fine if the registers were updated and not 30 year old IBM registers… They can never scan coupons at my local store unless they are the old formatted coupons… Which most have switched by now (5-4 years after their first appearance).

      • Lana

In the ad. You must have $20 after coupons for the $5 to come off.

        • Tiffany

Typically when it is included with discounts and offers… It means store coupons, but that is just based on the past 7 or so years, things do change. If it meant MQ’s then when you check out once you dropped below 20, it would auto kick out the 5.00 discount since the cashier is not the one who ‘determines the net purchase of 20.00’ or deducts the 5.00. But again that is just based on past experience

          • Leigh

The fine print on the ad clearly states $20.00 must be met after all coupons, discounts, etc.

        • lenmar01

Leigh, I beg to differ with you. My DG $5 coupon states that the consumer gets $5 off when you make a purchase of $25 or more before tax this Saturday. Manufacturer coupons, if any, are then applied. Hope this helps.

          • Leigh

I am referring to the $5.00 off $20.00 instant savings when you purchase selected P and G products.

            • lenmar01

My apology to you. You are correct on the P&G offer.

  9. Lisa

    Are any of these HE?

  10. Denise

Just tried this deal in Southern California. I was told by the manager if an item is on sale Dollar General will not accept a coupon on that item:(

    • Tiffany

That isn’t true. No where is it written that that is the case

      • Nicole

I was told the same thing 🙁

    • Christi

I was told the same thing in MA.

  11. mary

I bought trash bags a couple of weeks ago Hefty was usually 6.50 and was on sale for 5.00 and they took my 1.50 off coupon 🙂

  12. Kaylynn

I cant find a red plum insert anywhere?!! Are they in local newspapers or do I have to sign up online?

  13. Maria

I try to use manufactor coupons with the $5 off $25 and the register was only taking haft off the value of my coupons the cashier said that it was because my total need it to be $20 after any coupons.

  14. Robin Morgan

The manufacturer deal $5/20 is different than the $5/$25 deal. The $5/$25 DG coupon should be used first. If you buy 8, that is $28.00, the register will then take off about $.62 off each item (DG store coupon is how the system reads it). Then you use 4 of the $3/2 coupons. $28.00-$5.00-$12.00 = $11.00. Which works out to about $1.38/bottle. The $5/20 would not apply in this case. This is still stock up pricing!!!

This is how it has always worked at my DG. They will have problems scanning the coupons and they will have to go in and manually take off $1.50 from each bottle purchased. They gripe, but they will do it.

  15. Courtney

Do you have print something for the $5/$20 or does it just adjust at the register?

  16. Michelle

I was told that if you give the $5/$25 first, it would work if you bought 8 bottles. This would bring your total down to $23 in which case, the $5/$20 still applies. After the $5/$20 comes off, ask them to hit total then give your manufacture coupons which would then bring your total down to $6 for 8 bottles after using 4 $3/2 MQ.

  17. Amber

I had no problem with them taking my coupons but it did not take off 5 for 20.

  18. Paloma

Did not work in TX coupon did not scan

  19. Mary

My daughter just bought 6 bottles and the lady scanned her coupons as she rang them up and said she did not meet the $20 requirement so she did not get the $5 off.

  20. Kathy

why didn’t I read these post before I left…lol..fail!! ugh it does state on flyer after coupons which was put up to my face in store!

  21. Karina

went and tried to do it and total bummer DIDNT work the cashier said that the $5 off didnt work because the total after coupons was not $20 :,(

  22. cpefley

My Dollar General said that because the items are on sale and there is a store coupon on it, I can’t use a manufacturer’s coupon on top of that. Boo hoo! 🙁

    • KWmoore

There’s a better deal this week at Albertson’s thru Sunday. 50 oz. All for $2.99 and you can use the $3/2 coupon. It’s better in terms of cost per oz.

  23. Genesis

The only way they give u the 5 off is if the total is 20 after you scan the coupons so need to buy 10 bottles 10 all bottles=$35. Use 5 of the $3/2 coupon making the total $20 minus the $5 off 20 total $15 making the bottles $1.50 each

  24. Lynette

At my store the discount applies automatically after you meet the $20 purchase requirement, but it shows up as a store discount on each item (it splits the $5 between the items that you purchased.) When I tried to use the $3/2 coupons the register would not let it take the full amount since the price of one bottle was 2.69 after the other discount and the coupon was only being tied to one item instead of 2. There was not a way around this and I didn’t think it was worth it for .30 difference, but I did call corporate when I got home to tell them about the problem. I guess the workers can call a technical support line when there are issues like this. DG is very inconsistent about their coupon policies. . .

Same problem as everyone else and it took 20 minutes, standing in line and the cashier just kept ringing and voiding and scanning, while feeling bad that he couldn’t get it to work! This deal should have never been posted! Oh well! DG sucks! 🙂

  27. Debra

Some of the cashier at Dollar General do not like to deal with the coupon. Just tell you the coupon will not scan and have you standing in the line forever calling the manger who cannot get it right either.

  28. CarolynK

Kittanning PA- I did this yesterday: bought 6 (yes they had High Efficiency) used 2- $1 coupons and 2 – $2 off 2. I was NOT able to use the $5 off $25 total bill PLUS the $5 off $20 by purchasing select items. Total price worked out to $1.67 each, still though. Each bottle showed a .63 store discount for the $5.00 off. Coupons accepted on sale items no problem.
