Is this the lowest you’ve seen these go? I always see deals for these so I’m wondering if I should wait for a better deal or go for it. What do you think?

    • Alicia

I don’t know about deals. I don’t watch the kitchen aid ones closely since I already have one. Just keep size in mind. 4.5 might be a perfect size for you but for me it would be useless. Sometimes I even overflow my 6 quart ha

      • Kathy

You can always buy a bigger bowl, right?

        • Alicia

          No I don’t think so…but I could be wrong

        • Em

No, a bigger bowl wouldn’t fit

        • Rae

not for this model unfortunately. I got this one on black friday and it works great for regular size cookie dough recipies(1-3cups of flour). The motor got a little warm when I was making bread dough in it though.

I think it depends on if you have a Kohls charge card and also if you shop at Kohls a lot and would use the $30 Kohls cash on something you planned on buying from there anyways. This would not be a good deal for me but could be a good deal for someone else.

    • Natalie

I don’t think you’ll find a kitchenaid for less than $100, this seems to be lower than the Black Friday prices, if I remember right.

      • nicole

It’s not $100 though it’s way more than that out of pocket.

      • Rae

Its the same as the Black friday sale I got in on. But it was $15 kohls cash fpr every $50 plus the $30 MIR plus shopathome was 10%(18.39) Then part of my order got delayed so I was also given a promotional kohls cash of $25. Mine worked out to be really cheap for a brand new mixer. I went to a yardsale over the summer and they had a 15-20yo one that they wanted $50 for… and I actually debated getting it, so glad I didnt!

Has anyone used this to knead dough for 2 or 3 loaves? I just want to know that it is powerful enough…

    • Anna Harmon

      I have using their recipe.

    • Pharmchick

I literally only use my kitchenaid to knead dough. I love it, it’s really lightened my load!

    • Liz

I have a bigger model(5Qt) and even that cannot knead 2-3 loaves…so if u need to double the bread recipe then i would suggest a 6 quart mixer..this 4.5 qt is pretty useless for kneading.

Do they sell a bigger one? For a large family, which would you recommend? We want one but are unsure of what to get. Heeeelp?

    • Sarah

I would go with the larger one. You can always make smaller recipes in the large one, but I’ve had problems with overflow (and flour flying everywhere, even with the guard, since there’s so little space left at the top). Plus, the fun attachments like the ice cream maker work with any size model, if I’m not much mistaken. I can’t complain, though- I inherited mine from my mother when she upgraded hers, and after 20 years it still works like a charm. These are definitely worth the investment, but plan for the long-term. You’ll always be happy with the larger one.

      • Sarah

Oops- I meant that I’ve had problems with overflow in the smaller mixer that I have.

I think Costco has the bigger ones on sale for $249 until the end of Jan. I just bought this one and going through ebates I get 6% back. With $30 in Kohls cash and $30 in a mail in rebate that a really, really good price.

  5. Cherie

I did this deal at Christmas and it was great. You’ll never find one cheaper. Yes it’s the smaller model but still great buy.

  6. TM

The only time you might find it cheaper would be around Black Friday. I debated getting one around Christmas 2012 and kept by eye on it all of 2013. I didn’t see it as cheap again until Thanksgiving. I bought mine online the day before Thanksgiving and it was $229, but they had an additional 10% off Kitchenaid mixers, so it was $206, then 20% off of that with coupon code, $15 Kohl’s cash for each $50 ($45), and then a $30 rebate. That would make if roughly around $90 if you count the Kohl’s cash.

I do like it, makes mixing quick. There are 6 in my family and although a bigger one would be useful, for this price, this couldn’t be beat. I don’t make bread often, so that probably won’t be an issue.
