Reader Tip: Check for Customer Loyalty Programs

I didn’t know this was available, so figured others might not either. I own a Summer Infant Video Monitor. I’ve had issues with the first one I purchased & they’ve displayed some really good customer service in the past troubleshooting my unit & sending me parts & then eventually a replacement unit. Unfortunately, they only have a one year warranty on their monitor now, but what I also learned is that they have a customer loyalty buying program. When you call their 1-800# for customer service, you can purchase monitors at a very good discount. I just purchased their dual-view monitor from them for $100 less than Amazon and Target had it priced. I don’t even think they charged me shipping! I guess if you’ve never called to complain, you’d never know they offer this.

    Melissa and Doug is an awesome company in regards to their customer service. I do not have experience with loyalty programs but they sent me a brand new item when our current one broke.

    Kid Kraft has AWESOME customer service also. My dog chewed up about 12 pieces to my sons train set while I was in the hospital and I called to order replacement parts and specifically told her what my dog had done and I received 12 brand new replacement pieces in 2 days at NO charge!

    A Customer Loyalty Program I’ve been able to utilize a couple of times is the one for Secret Clinical Strength . Those can be expensive, even with coupons, so this helps. It rewards you with a coupon for a free product when you mail in four UPC/proof of purchase (excluding trial sizes). Information is here:

    I emailed Dupont after we had bought our 2nd faucet water filtration system. (We had previously used “Pur” which wasn’t a good experience). I just wanted to let Dupont know what a great product they had and how happy we were with it. They thanked me and asked for my address. They sent me an entire filtration system for the faucet AND a couple of filters! I was really impressed! I just wanted to praise a company for a change, instead of complaining about a product.

    We actually got the same baby monitor for our baby shower and it came with babies r us extended warranty ( extra $25 or $30). The monitor ended up having problems after about 13-14 months so we called the warranty and they sent us a check for whatever the monitor cost the person that bought it. We then went and bought the monitor on sale with another warranty AND we still had about $60 left over. So I feel like that extra $30 bucks was totally worth it.

    YES TO CUCUMBERS! Back when they had their PDF coupon out, I had a horrible experience with Wal-Mart, to the point that I cried. I called YTC and relayed my experience. They sent me a box of their products & I found a few I really liked! I think its safe to say that I’m a YTC customer for life!

    I am not sure if anyone has utilize it, but we had purchased blue-ray home system from sears. We did not buy extended warranty. After 1 year we had0 problem with blue ray disc loading system.$ears stated it was past their warranty period but we had made purchase on am ex.they reimburse our money thru their extended warranty. I make all my purchases by am ex. Great credit card with extremely consumer geared protection policy.

    Canon camera’s has a great loyalty program. When it came time to update our camera you can buy refurbished ones at a fraction of the price, and I believe they come with a warranty of some sort as well.

    I got a brand new pair of snow boots from Coleman’s when I mercilessly sent back the ones I had purchased on thanksgiving. The sole was so soft that it gave away and bits and pieces fell off. The new one isn’t any better but hey I got another pair shipped free.

    I’ve had numerous great experiences with different companies. All I had to do was call (with LEGITIMATE reasons).. Skip Hop was great, Buy Buy Baby, Citrus Lane, Graco, Safety 1st, Victoria’s Secret, ToysRus, etc… LeapFrog was the only one who, after i explained everything, told me they had a 90 day policy… so if my item had been in that timeframe, it would’ve been a different story…

      I had a terrible experience with VS with an online order using my Angel Card. I closed my account that day and haven’t dealt with them since.

    We recently had an awesome experience with discover card.

    We bought a 47″ tv for thanks giving which was a hot door buster item, but we bought it at regular price(499$) and sale price was 288$. Under discovers price protection, and if u use their card for purchase, they will price match upto 500$ per item, for 3 items per year. So we filed a price match request and in a few weeks we recieved a check for 212$.

    Viola, didn’t have to brave the crowds, beat the cold, or get dissapointed if we would have missed out.

    Will definitely be using their card for thanks giving shopping.

      I LOVE my Discover card!!! Just the other day they mailed me a $5 Starbucks gift card for no reason. Even the card said something simple to explain that it was ‘just because’. I know it a small gesture but I cannot tell you how many people I’ve told about this. I even bought stock in their company and I’ve only had my card for three months!!

    AMAZON! They are always giving me promo credits bc I find a price lower elsewhere, and they can’t price match but they can offer me a promo credit for a future purchase…..they sent me promo credit if my shipment was late….they are awesome about return shipping costs….etc. I’m a customer for life with them!

      I agree although I have not received any credits, I had 2 packages sent from them stolen right before Christmas and the post office would not do anything for me but Amazon refunded me and gave me another month of free prime. Awesome customer service!

    I had a great experience with fluval fish Tanks. I had a small chi tank that was past the 1 year warranty. I had a pump that worked but the led light stopped they are one unit. I called to ask about how I could order a new light/ pump and they sent me a new one free of charge. Saved us $45. So I recommend this company.

      I agree! Shutterfly is amazing!!! I was dissatisfied with my birth announcements, so I called them and they refunded the entire purchase and told me I could still keep them!!!! Now I feel so confident ordering from them, and their products are usually top notch!

    Had a great experience with Best Buy. I purchased one of the Lays party packs that contains various flavors of snack size chip bags at Walmart one day. Well, the bag had a few Skylander coupons inside. I – er, uh, I mean Santa – was planning on pre-ordering Swap Force and putting it back for my son’s Christmas so those coupons were a pretty welcome surprise! When I emailed Best Buy to see if there was a time frame in which I had to pre-order to get the bonuses and also to see if the store would honor my coupon for $10 off the game if I pre-ordered, I was informed that the store manager would have to make the decision on whether or not they would honor the coupon in store AND she gave me a promotional code for $50 off of my next BestBuy.com purchase! Said that she knew how expensive Christmas could be for Santa and that she hoped that would help. After using that promo code and a $25 Best Buy gift card I received from Viggle, I paid $2.11 for a $75 game!! Regular price with tax included would have been $81.36! How awesome! Love Best Buy now! She made me a customer for life!

    I’ve had good luck with summer in the past. I had read somewhere online that they did a replacement on their video monitors when they go out. I called and they sent me the replacements. I only had to pay for the shipping. We had twins and had the dual monitors at the time.

    Does anyone know if the highly discounted monitors you can purchase, once you call customer service, are refurbished ones? Companies sometimes do this, so I was just curious.

    Shark/Ninja has great customer service too. I called to order a new battery for our sweeper and they threw in 2 free ninja choppers. Hello Christmas presents. These are regularly $30 each and we would’ve had to buy the battery anyway! Plus no shipping fees. I was very impressed

    I can’t say enough good words about Graco. Love love love their products and their customer service is AMAZING! We have a graco pack n play, 4 Graco car seats, and a Graco motorized swing ( I know there’s more I just can’t think of it off the top of my head). The motor went out on the swing right at about the one year mark and not only did Graco still replace the motor for free but gave us a new 1 year warrenty on the swing. When you have a child with acid reflux and when your baby gets sick you can’t live with out your baby swing. Highly recommend any Graco products.

    I can’t say enough good things about Tom-Tom. My mom gave me a Tom-Tom GPS for Christmas a few years ago. Well, the first day I used it, my toddler kicked it and cracked the screen. I called Tom-Tom to simply ask about repair options, and they sent me a completely new unit for FREE! Their generosity was totally unexpected. I was and still am extremely impressed with their customer service.

    Keurig has a loyalty program. I called them when my Keurig brewer stopped working. It was a few months outside of the 1-year warranty. Although they did not send me a free replacement, they did offer to sell me a new one at a discounted price. I can’t remember now how much of a discount they offered, but I’m thinking it was something like 30% or 40%. Better than nothing, anyway. 🙂
