I have a Kindle Paperwhite and LOVE IT. Spend the extra and get the Paperwhite. I never have any glare, and can read in the dark no problem. I use it to help keep me awake when breastfeeding in the middle of the night for late night feedings. I read 14 books with it in 30 days, very addicting!

I agree! I love my Paperwhite. I love that it doesnt bug hubs in the middle of the night.

I love my Paperwhite, too! Well worth the money. It has a great battery life, too!

Is it only for books or like the other kindles?

    • Dylan

These Kindles are dedicated e-readers, not tablets like the Kindle Fire. Basically just for reading.

So the advantage of the paperwhite is essentially that you can read in the dark (lights up)? Basic kindle does not do that? Is that correct?

    • Dylan

Yes – Paperwhites use cool technology where the screen is backlit (but not glowing, like an iPad or a Kindle Fire would), so you can read in the dark or in daylight. With the regular e-reader Kindles you need to use a booklight, like a regular book. I have the Kindle Touch and I need to use a booklight. If the Paperwhite was out when I got mine, I would have gotten that.

Thank you. I like reading at night, so this sounds like it would be the better choice for me:)

        • Kristina

Yes, and no glare if you read outside. Reacts just like a book would!

Also it looks like the books take up the whole screen where books on the kindle get shrunk.
