eBay's Sell Your Phone Tool by Hip2Save #SellMyPhone

Do you have old cell phones lying around or stashed in a drawer in your house? Well, how about grabbing those old phones and using them to earn cash? With eBay’s Sell My Phone tool, you can easily sell your Samsung phone (a Samsung cell phone is sold every 22 seconds on eBay!) or sell your iPhone (an iPhone is sold every 16 Seconds on eBay!) and earn some extra cash.

On a side note, one of my very sweet children was “forced” to drop my iPhone 4 last year after one of the birds in Angry Birds did indeed make her quite angry. Although the case around my iPhone 4 was super cute, I immediately learned that it offered no protective value so my phone suffered a completely cracked screen and ultimately stopped working. This phone is currently sitting inside one of my desk drawers – I just used eBay’s Sell My Phone tool and learned that this nonfunctional iPhone 4 could be worth up to $148 (and as you know, a Hip2Saver can do a lot with $148!).

To find out the value of your current or old phone, head here, select your phone, choose the carrier, model, color, memory capacity and condition and eBay will then provide you with a suggested “Buy It Now” price for your phone. Plus, eBay will suggest an auction-style start price in order to attract bidders.

I love selling stuff on Ebay! I am always amazed at how many people don’t sell their old iPhones. Why not make a little cash and get rid of the stuff you no longer need.

I mostly haven’t sold our old phones and kept them as backups if one of ours is lost/stolen and because I don’t feel like wiping all the info off the phone (pictures rct).

Return to factory setting takes, oh, 5 seconds, lol. I do agree with keeping one old phone per person as back up though

Em- is there a good (EASY) tutorial for resetting to factory settings?Thats why I’ve never done it. I have 2 old iphones!

    • Em

      Settings > General
And then, depending on how old you either go to About or Reset and them click on restore to factory.

      Done!

I sold my iPhone 4s on Ebay. The estimator tool is right on the price I sold it for, $200. However, keep in mind you have to pay Ebay fees, Paypal fees and the seller usually pays the shipping fees and insurance. It adds up. With fees, shipping and insurance that took off $30 from the price. Apple had offered me a $150 credit for my phone so not sure the extra $20 was worth the hassle. If you do sell your phone on Ebay be careful that you are very detailed with your description too.

Zosia- depending on the how big and generation around $100 sometimes more if it isn’t very old. To know for sure or a close guess go on Ebay select the size and generation, used then select items sold/ completed items. This will tell you how much your could sell for.

I just sold my old android phone on Ebay this past week. I didn’t know about the Sell Your Phone Tool. I checked it out just now and that phone isn’t listed. My old phone was in need of repair and I got $50 for it anyway (before Ebay and Paypal fees are taken out). I am satisfied with that, especially since ones in working order are going for $75-$85 on Ebay.

BTW, it’s very easy to reset android phones back to their factory settings, which wipes out all your personal data. Don’t forget to take out your SIM card (if you have one) and your memory card (if you have one) before selling.

You can sell your old phone on amazon.com too. I sold my old iphone on recyclebank.com, this was probably 2 years ago so I don’t know if they still do this or not.
