UPDATE: There is also a $3 Mail-in Rebate found here! – thanks, Andrea & Penny!

[h2s_box]Walmart has a great Blue Rhino Propane deal advertised in the weekly sales flyer. Purchase a new tank for $46.82 and get a $25 gift card, or exchange a tank for $18.92 and get a $10 gift card. To make this deal even better, Coupons.com has a $3 off coupon (using zip 73019, OK) good with or without a tank exchange, bringing the total cost to as little as $5.92 per tank (after gift card and coupon)!! I exchanged our two tanks today and it was so easy.[/h2s_box]

NOTE – If you can’t find this coupon, head here and click on the Sign-in link in the upper right corner to log into your account at Coupons.com. Next click on your name in the upper right hand corner to show the drop down menu and finally, click on “Your Profile”, set your zip code to 73019 (OK) and click “Submit Changes”. Then click back on this link and the coupon should show up already clipped.

I am sure this is such a silly question, but I honestly don’t know…Ido you get a tank full of propane when you do the exchange? My hubby and I have an empty tank and love the idea for getting a full one for such a great price.

    • Megan

Tawny, just bring in the empty tank to the store and they’ll give you a full one to take home.

    • Rebecca S.

you bring the empty tank in and take a full tank that’s already there. So you get a new tank and they keep your old empty one. Then the company comes and removes the empty ones to fill at their facility.

    • Jennifer B.

Actually, you should not (for safety reasons) take the tank inside the store, but rather get an employee with a key to meet you at the outdoor location (normally near the Garden Center) where the filled tanks sit in a metal cage. I just roll mine up in a shopping cart. They get pretty heavy toting to and from the car!

  3. Amy Schiff

Does it have to be a Blue Rhino brand tank that you exchange?

    • Amy

      It can be any tank.

      • visitor3

A certain relative I will refrain from naming has been known to bring in ratty old tanks found on the side of the road, salvaged for this very purpose! You don’t get to keep your pretty new tank anyway.

    • Kimberly

It has to be a Blue Rhino for a Blue Rhino. We tried to trade another brand a year ago and they wouldn’t take it.

      • chris

I just traded two non blue rhino today

      • Emily

That’s not true, the store employee must have been mistaken. They’ll exchange any tank.

        • Kimberly

That is what I’m starting to think…I might try to exchange it again! Thanks! 🙂

      • llc

No, any brand exchanged. This is true for everyplace that sells propane. They just re-label them when they refill them.

    • Ron

I’m not visitor3’s relative but I get my rusty old tanks from our local transfer station. Our Walmart will take anything for an exchange. I just park my car by the tanks, go inside to the garden center to pay for it, and someone walks out with me for the exchange.

  4. Kathy

Thanks! I have 4 tanks that need filled! I spend most of my summer camping at my river place. This will save me a lot of money!

  5. Cindy

There is also a $3.00 mail in rebate for either a Blue Rhino exchange or new tank purchase.

  6. molly

Does Walmart fill them without having to exchange and if so I wonder if this just getting them filled would qualify for the gift card?

    • chris

Walmart doesn’t fill them…they just exchange full tanks Dilled by blue rhino

  7. Staci osmond

They don’t fill, they only exchange out of a cage full of full tanks. A service comes n picks up the empties, puts fresh labels on them, fills, and returns to another cage. You don’t permanently keep the tank.

  8. Andrea

Thanks for sharing- Here is a rebate for $3 from blue rhino as well

  9. Abby

also for future reference, those tank exchanges don’t give you a FULL refill. I think it says on the sign how many pounds you are actually getting. Still a great deal during this promotion, but just an FYI if you choose to do it again later. If you have a nice tank and want a full fill that is usually cheaper per gallon or wtvr, have it filled at a station.

    • chris

Blue rhino fills it with 15 lbs. Typical fill stations do 17 but that cost more than $5

    • Melissa

We get ours filled at Tractor Supply when we have a coupon and it is pretty cheap

  10. Beth

Where is this deal ? I don’t see it in the local ad online. Will the register populate a gift card?

  11. monikaka92

Uggghhh I just bought one yesterday! My store didn’t have blue rhino either.. 🙁

  12. Tash

How do you come up with 5.92? I don’t get the math.

    • amy

Exchange Tank is $18.92-$10 gift card you will receive after purchase-$3 coupon from coupons.com=Like paying $5.92 after gift card and coupon.

      • jac

Or even better, $2.92 after $3 rebate!

  13. Beth

Where is the gift card details? I don’t see it in ad.

    • Happymama

I would like to know the details too.

    • Amy

It’s an outdoor living ad dated March 23-29 on the page with grills. You can change the ad you are viewing online after clicking weekly ad, make sure you are then on the “ads” tab (I think it is the default, then in the greyed area under the tab are all the ads available to you. Click “See all ads for Walmart”.

If you print thru Swagbucks you get 10 points

    • Jason

I have printed and used a few coupons through Swagbucks. It’s only been a month or two since I’ve started doing this but I’ve yet to see any points show up from using coupons. Have you had any success with this?

  15. Emily

We’ve been wanting a second tank, now is the perfect time to buy one! After the coupon and gift card, it’ll be just about the same price as an exchange.

  16. Beth

Does anyone know if there were a limited number of coupons? I changed my zip to the 73019, and could not find it anywhere.

    • Ann

I just printed mine – the coupon is still there.

  17. Nikky

Anybody know the resolve for it saying that your printer is unsupported. I print coupons daily from coupons.com and all of a sudden it stopped working and gives me a message that my printer is unsupported … didn’t change printers. I have tried reinstalling the coupon software and it says it installs correctly but it still doesn’t work. Help! Anybody else encounter this and resolve?

  18. Mary

My Wal-mart did not accept the $3 off coupon. The customer service rep told me that she couldn’t accept it because “the address is fraudulent”. I don’t understand why it would be because it was printed from coupon.com. There was a line behind me, so I left feeling confused & disappointed!

    • Mary

      *i meant coupons.com

  19. Beth

My WalMart doesn’t sell Blue Rhino 🙁 hoping to still get the gift cards at least!

    • nina

It’s says right on there ad under the picture it says. .. brands may vary by store…so you should still be able to get the gift cards with whatever brand your Wal-Mart carries..

  20. Nicole G.

My local ad does not advertise a gift card. Bummer.

    • nina

I look my up add up on walmart.com and mine shows the gift cards.

  21. gina

what state is the zip code for

  22. linda yang

hey everyone! i went and did the blue rhino exchanged yesterday and better yet, my walmart sell the exchanged for only $15.82! If you factor in the $10 giftcard and $3 coupon i exchanged each for only $3.69. than with the rebate, it would be $.69!
So make sure to check your walmart for prices!

    • llc

Same here in Houston, TX $15.82 – $10 GC and $3.00 MQ=$2.82 (already submitted a rebate earlier this year)
The only gift cards that would work are the Blue Cards that say Cash Card. Otherwise the computer would not put the $10 on.

  23. Tyra Callahan

What Walmarts are doing this the ad in ohio does not show the gift card

  24. sheena

Cannot find the coupon anywhere on coupons.com, even after entering the zip code. Is it still available? ?? 🙂

  27. Lori

They wouldn’t take my coupon. The scanner wouldn’t even accept it.

  28. Melissa

  29. K. Cox

  30. toastedhazelnut84
