I used two of the $10 grocery coupons plus lots of other coupons today and spent $61 for $101 worth of groceries!

That’s great! It’s so much fun isn’t it? I did a few non-food deals too, and got $138 of stuff for $61, after ibotta, Checkout 51 and a mail in rebate. I think I’m going to go back after the new Checkout 51 deals come out.

I went to Target today and the cashier told me that they only accept 5 coupons per transaction after I handed her my handful of coupons…. I asked her to get the manager b/c I didn’t think that was right after I couldn’t find it on the coupon policy…the manager even said that was so also.. Has anyone else had an issue like this…. Am I wrong? I live in WI and I’ve never had a problem before this….help!

    • Mary

Julie, where in WI do you live. I am in Green Bay and have never had that problem.

        Grafton.

I am in Milwaukee and have never had that problem

Hi Julie … I have not had that specific problem, but I have had lots of problems with coupons at Target lately!!! My last big issue the Team Member checking me out told me I could not use more than one of the same coupon (even though the fine-print did not limit one per transaction), but then she turned around and accepted two of the same coupons for a food item. Weird! I was also told I could not combine a B2G1 Free In-Store Promotion with a B2G1 Free Coupon. I ended up getting one of those surveys to complete at the bottom of my receipt. I completed it with dissatisfaction and requested I be contacted by the store about my issues. I ended up receiving a response from the Store Manager and also some Target Courtesy Coupons for my troubles.

I want to say I saw another Hipster comment at one time, their Target was limiting five coupons total for “beauty” products, but I could absolutely be wrong!

In your case, I would complete the survey if it was available on your receipt. Even if so, I would still contact the store directly and ask to speak to the Store Manager (Top of the Top). And I would also contact Target Customer Service, of you don’t get anywhere with the store … at the very least email them. No where anywhere does it say there is a “total” coupon limit per transaction, other than “Limit of 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on coupon).”

What you encountered doesn’t seem right at all … Especially when you consider the combination of Target and Manufacturer Coupons. Stuff like this really bugs me and makes me think of grabbing a bunch of stuff and ringing out two items per transaction and handing over four coupons (2 Target Coupons and 2 Manufacturer Coupons) then another, then another, etc. After the tenth or fifteenth transaction and a line of people behind you, they may realize how ridiculous it is. (Of course I think this in my head, but would be the last to execute it.)

Thank you all for your help! I’ll do what you suggested… I was a little upset! Thank you all again!!!

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I literally live right between two Targets. The one direction they are coupon haters and when a supervisor sees me they will come over to the check out and proceed to tell the cashier and me that I can not use this coupon or that coupon for reasons like it’s not the exact same one in the picture on the coupon etc. even though they do not beep. They will void them out and hand them back to me.
The other direction they cannot help you enough to make it work for you. I had handed rain checks at the end of my order today and the cashier had to back out the big $10 coupon to get it to take the rain check then it wouldn’t take the $10 even though I was still over the threshold amount so the manager pushed it through.
Sometimes Collin talks about prices being regional. These two Targets will have the exact item but different prices and it is maybe 10 miles between them, weird.
I would do like Noel said and make a hundred different transactions.

I have two Target’s in my city too. The newest one is maybe two miles from my house and the one I shop at most. Most of the staff is awesome, albeit mostly floor staff, but then there are those few, at the checkstands that are a pain. And really recently I’ve encountered quite a few problems/issues … And leave agitated. It really makes me dread shopping there! I walk in feeling like things are not going to run smoothly!!! :[ I really wish there was consistentcy … A lot of it comes down to who’s working and if I’m lucky enough to check out with one of the “cool” Team Members. *frustrating*

My other Target is about seven miles away and more in the center of town. This one gets a lot more foot traffic/sales. Which can equate to a little more ease in checking out. (Probably cause the lines can be awful and they want to get you out.) And like you April, there prices can be cheaper!!! Weird! These Target’s are within ten miles of each other and prices can be upwards of a dollar difference for everyday items. On the flip side, they are “out” of A LOT more items. :[ *catch 22*

I love Target! And in a time where couponing isn’t what it used to be (gone are my mom’s double-triple deals) and tough deals/prices in So.Cal., Target has been a blessing with the ability to stack for some AWESOME deals. (Thank you Collin for helping me navigate all this newness.) But, it’s difficult to navigate In-Store Sales, Manufacturer Coupons, Target Coupons – Printed or Mobile, and Cartwheel … All while trying to keep an eye on the register at check-out. And I feel awful for the person who gets in line behind me sometimes. :[

But, thank you to the Hipster who reminded me that Target MAKES money on coupons, not the other way around! A good point to remember. Good luck ladies!!!

        • Maile

Noel, I also live in So. Cal. May I ask what city are you referring to?

    • Regina Fox

I have been told that they will only accept 5 of the same coupon.

  3. Amy

We have one Target where I know I’ll always have an issue. There is one cashier who I’ve had a run-in with on more than one occasion. I refuse to be nasty and go down to her level but she is very lucky that Target allows her to work there and must know someone really high up because I don’t think she will last more than a day or two anywhere else with how she treats customers. To top it off, I like to go as soon as they open in the morning and she is usually the only cashier. Ugh!
