Quite disappointed to learn of this decision to no longer use the Kroger Plus card to automatically credit Savings Star transactions bought at Kroger. Unfortunately, this procedural change will mean that we won’t be able to obtain the Saving Star items at Kroger any more, due to not having a means of uploading a receipt– neither via scanner nor cell phone– to manually document our purchase:
Important Account Change: Kroger
The way you save at Kroger stores will soon change. Starting on October 1, Kroger will transition from an “automatic” (loyalty card) retailer and instead participate as a receipt-scanning retailer. This means that you will redeem SavingStar offers at Kroger stores by submitting a picture of your receipt, instead of linking SavingStar offers to your Kroger card. This change impacts all Kroger stores, including: Kroger, Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, JayC, King Soopers, City Market, PayLess, Owen’s, QFC, Ralphs, and Smith’s. This was a corporate decision made by Kroger.
All SavingStar offers redeemed at Kroger-owned stores using your loyalty card must take place by September 30 (rewards will post to your account on or before October 9). Starting October 1, all redemptions will be credited when you submit a picture of your receipt, either through the SavingStar app or SavingStar.com. To learn more go here. Get the iPhone app here. if you have a camera you can take a picture of your receipt, you don’t have to have a scanner… i dont have a smartphone or a fancy printer and thats how i submit all my stuff for rebates and similar sites
wow, that is sooooooo sad. I have an Android phone and taking pictures of “round” things (like shampoo, canned food, milk jugs, etc) for Ibotta rebates was a pain you know where. I was so happy that I don’t have to deal with picture submission through SavingStar when shopping at Smith’s for these kind of deals deals. So, so sad that they are going this 🙁
I think you just have to take a picture of the receipt, but that still totally sucks…like I have time to do all that!?!
Looks like Mike and Ike finally made up. 🙂
It is on sale at rite aid for $0.99.
Josh – where are you? I upgraded to IOS8. My receipt is rejected. I’ve sent you a message through the app.
