I still think the walmart beauty box was a better deal…but since the l’oreal color riche lipstick itself is around the same price(after a $3 coupon) the box does pay for itself….the laneige sample was in the ipsy box a couple of months ago and it was awfull…so i guess it depends if you need anymore free sample sized hair products. The NYX eye pencils crease like crazy…pls dont kill me…il just giving my unbiased reviews..im sure everyone will have a different opinion.

    • Aisha

Agree with your review it’s not worth the price even with Loreal lippie 🙂

    • katie

      Thank you! 🙂

    • jiya

      Thanks!!

    • Dawn

Liz, you mentioned the ipsy box and I would like to hear your reviews of this company and their products. I just cancelled my Smashbox subscription due to the pricey monthly dues and I’m trying to shop around for a new monthly makeup box. Thanks!

      • Dawn

Sorry.. Not Smashbox… Glossybox. I wish Smashbox had a monthly subscription! ☺️

        • Mel

I’m not Liz, but I’ve had Ipsy for the past two years. Like and sub box it can be pretty hit or miss, but overall it’s a hit. Yes, it does some repeats (brands not items) and has some more affordable items, but in the two years there has only been one or two months when there wasn’t at least something I was excited to try. Because of the $10 price tag it’s often compared to Birchbox. I had birchbox for a few months a few times, but that one seems to be a lot more hit or miss. Granted it does have some more expensive brands but they are still brands few people have heard of. Plus a lot of lotion and anit-aging. So much anti-aging. I think Glossybox is $20 and Boxycharm is $21 so it isn’t saving any money, but you get 5 full sized items. I’ve gotten it the past three months and have really been quite pleased. Sorry more than anyone ever wanted to know about sub beauty boxes.

        • Liz

Dawn my comment is not showing up …but i truly think Ipsy is totally worth the $10…my suggestion is to go to mysubscriptionaddiction(dot)com to see all the prev ipsy boxes and reviews

Liz, I used your link and I’m excited to try ipsy! I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get off the waiting list, but I’m sure it’s just for more subscribers. If anyone would like to use my link I’d appreciate it!

I have an Ipsy box too and I agree sometimes that it can be pretty hit or miss, but overall I like the boxes. If there is something in the box that you don’t like you can see about trading an item with another Ipsy subscriber.

        • Dawn

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I’m going to give ipsy a try for a couple of months. At $10 a box, it’s in my budget. Liz, I signed up with your link! Happy deals to all of you and thanks Collin for the post and for allowing us share. 🙂

Do these come with good coupons or anything? I’ve always passed these by because we get so many free samples I don’t understand paying for them

    • B

I got one last year when it was $5 for the box. It did have a target beauty coupon in it for like $5 off or something…of course that coupon was EXPIRED! And I know I wasn’t the only one this happened to after reading other complaints. So I’d say NOT worth it, especially if you’re after coupons.

  3. Julie

Got it and even sweeter, paid for it with a Target gift card I got on my last shopping trip. Elnett is my favorite hair spray. It will be nice to have a little one for my purse. Thanks so much for posting this deal!

    • Tres

Same here, got 2 for $9.04 can’t beat that! Thanks for the heads up and I can reuse the box for Christmas, gonna give the eyeshadow and hairspray to our local women’s shelter (I don’t use these).

  4. Barb J

they went up? didn’t these boxes use to be $5?

    • luckymeyay

The price definitely went up. I purchased the last one for $5 and did not think it was worth it.

  5. Tiffany

I just looked up the prices on Amazon for the 4 items not including the “sample Target exclusive” and the 4 items were over $31. I think this is a pretty good deal when you are wanting to try out different things. I have a 12 year old girl too, so if it doesn’t work for me, I can let her try different things too.

    • Liz

That cannot be right…the only full size products are the lippie and the nyx pencil….they will work out to aroound $14….

      • Tiffany

My suggestion to you is if you don’t believe me then do your own research. I searched exactly the items in the box on amazon and got my numbers. I don’t think you should ever buy something without doing your research so I did mine now you do yours. I was just trying to be helpful to everyone else and save people time.

  6. dab

They’re saying the value is $28 for 5 sample-sized products??

  7. jeanni

If I want to stack coupons at Target do I have to give them in any certain order?

    • Tres

Always give them the $5 off of $15 worth of beauty supplies first, then the target and manufacturers!

  8. Cali

Pay $7 for random samples? lol…

  9. Ashley

I remember when these used to be free 🙁

    • Jayna

That’s what I was thinking these used to be free!! 🙂

      • Debbie

yep, no way I’d pay for free samples, and they use to come in a cute bag too!! guess that was the good ole days……

        • Emily

The cute bag that I still have in my purse to keep my touch-up make-up in! I miss those days!

  10. Maryann

With the redcard this is $7.12. If they’re worth $31 then it’s an awesome deal. My girl is 15 and likes to try things out too. Good stocking stuffers I think. One year I filled her stocking with all the little makeup accessories–tweezers, emery boards, qtips, little makeup brushes, eye lash curler, free razor/shaving cream in a sparkly bag, etc. Mostly free via H2S. She loved it. Thanks, Collin!

  11. me

I won’t get this. Thank you for working hard, Colin & team. I use $5 each week as my stock up money. One deal each week. I refuse to pay for samples. If I can score free or take a survey, fine. If I have to pay, no thank you!

  12. thecents2save

The Fekkai dry shampoo is over $7 (yes, in this actual size).
The Elnett is $5.59 in this size.
    The NYX pencil is $4.49.
Just those 3 products alone totals over $17.
    Keep perspective.

    • Liz

NYX always goes on 40% off in Ulta(just last week) and always B1G50% in CVS…if you have any 1 subscription box(like ipsy) getting hair sprays is a pain…so if you dont include the sample size products this box is not worth it…but of course everyone is different but as a seasoned couponer i would never pay for hair sprays or drugstore lipsticks..i got 4 l’oreal riche lipsticks free last month at CVS(with coupons) This box is not worth it for me

      • thecents2save

All hair sprays and dry shampoos are definitely NOT created equal. So if you have been wanting to try either of these, I think the deal is pretty solid, though $5 would have been a slightly better price point in my opinion. 🙂

The Laneige sample is pretty cool. It comes with 3 shades and a sponge for application. These sell for around $4-5 on eBay when available. Also, the product is pretty fantastic. I tried the sample a month or two back and ended up buying the full size.

Please also keep in mind that ULTA inflates their prices to accommodate all of their nutty sales. Case in point, the fullize Elnett is $15 at ULTA but $13 at Target. The Loreal Lip product is $8 at Target but $10 at ULTA (full size).

        • Liz

Again i think it depends on each individual..i got the laneige sample in my ipsy box and i found it horrible…i love the brand though..their water bank serum is abs awesome(holy grail) ..but i would never ever pay for the elnet hairspray…its always free with coupons at RA…so as far as NYX is concerned even if it is higher in ULTA…then buy from CVS with the B1G150% (this week) with the $/$ beauty coupons with the beauty club..still super cheap. So the only thing i would consider worth it is the loreal lippie(again i got 4 of them free last month at CVS with coupons) and the dry shampoo…not worth for $7…but to each his own…if u have any beauty subscription like ipsy b=most likely you are drowning in dry shampoo and hair sprays.

          • thecents2save

Keep in mind that some people won’t have convenient access to a CVS or RA. We don’t have CVS in Colorado at all (boo!) and we have a very limited number of Rite-Aids as well. The closest RA to me is pretty far away. The savings are not worth the gas it would cost to drive all the way out there.

    • Tina

Agree! I love my white NYX pencil. It is great to use as an eye primer, it also makes your eye shadows look brighter and you can also use it to highlight the inner corner of your eye.

  13. Dawn

Sheesh. And it doesn’t even come with a cute bag like the past free samples did. Glad we got those cute bags and samples before! I’m all for free, I don’t have any money to spend on samples. 🙂

  14. Amp

Anyone knows whats the shade of Laneige BB Cushion Sample ?

  15. Karlie

I think the reason the prices for the items are so high is because the hairspray is usually 25 dollars itself for the full price, the Fekkai is 23 I believe for a big bottle. That hairspray is like a gift from God! It’s the most amazing hairspray. You can brush through your hair the next day without trouble. So that’s’ why I think it’s worth it.

  16. Mona

Looks like a great deal to me and I ordered one. I do love Ellnet hairspray although it is a splurge for me. The other items look very interesting and thanks a million for the post.

  17. Steph

I think this is a little much for a sample box, considering Walmart does these now for $5 and target used to do them for $5 (and in the past, free) it’s a fun idea, and I like them, but I just cancelled my ipsy subscription because I was getting too many mini samples of things I didn’t need. I can’t justify buying this to myself.

    • that lady

Have you tried boxycharm? It’s $21 a month, but has 5, highend, and fullsize in every box. My last box had a value of $100. Love it!

  18. harlow

i won a 5.00 target gc from lays chips a while back so i used it towards this deal. wish it had only been an even 5.00 but they are big samples, quality brands. i have that lipstick in nude and its brilliant!!!! <3

  19. broadway96

Meh not worth the $7 and it use to be $5.

  20. Sara H

Thanks for sharing, this is awesome!

  21. Jessica

Wishing this was $5 instead of $7!!

  22. Your sister

Why am I thinking these used to be free

  23. nora

so why doesnt target go back to $5? and why do they run out so quickly?
