My son had been asking for this since it came out…. Super excited because I just can’t justify $40 for a game. My son will be so happy

      😀

I wanted to get my kids Xbox for Christmas, just curious what the difference is between Xbox 360 and Xbox one? Thanks!

    • Shanshan

      Not on wii? Bummer!

    • Shanshan

You’ll find more in-depth reply if you google the question. I wish each company make game consoles that are both backward and forword compatible… We have to switch from wii to wii U just to play this Lego Movie game… NO WAY! 🙁

Xbox one is the new version. I would say bite the bullet and pay for Xbox one. I got xbox 360 last year but it only came with 4gb (which meant nothing to me ). But in order to play, save and update you need more gig. By the time I learned all that and paid for upgrades I could have had xbox one that comes with 500 gb

      • Liz

Thanks for the great info. I’m really clueless about this stuff:)

      • Candace

Thank you for this info. My 5 year old, yes 5 year old wants an Xbox for my moms house and we have a wii u for my house. I don’t know anything about Xbox so this is valuable info.

I did months of research on this. We have a Wii, but our daughter has been asking for an Xbox for various reasons. We decided to go with the Xbox One. The 360 is a ten year old system and we were concerned that Microsoft may choose to discontinue it in the next couple of years. Luckily we found an amazing seller on Craigslist that sold us an entire bundle for a fantastic price. I’m not sure my husband is going to make it until Christmas.

We have every game system known to man 🙁 Four kids, plus the two kids across the street, really give me an education on weekends!

Be aware that there are several drawbacks to the Xbox One. Sure it has great graphics, but the game selection is slim compared to the other systems. In particular, there are almost NO multiplayer games designed for the players to be in the same room. IF I understand this correctly, my kid can play with a cousin in a different state if both kids have an online account BUT they can’t play the same game on the same screen with two kids in the same room. Since my kids like playing together, this is an issue for us.

When it comes right down to it, my kids play the Xbox 360 FAR more than they play the Xbox One.

As we can also see, the xbox one games don’t go on sale as much as the older versions. Is xbox one backward compatible with xbox 360 games?

Anyone have recommendations on a first gaming system for a 5 year old? Which one is best for that age (and has age-appropriate games available)?

    • Casey

Wii U is better for kids and their Netflix interface is the easiest to navigate.

    • Tobey

I bought Xbox four mg five year old but he has friends with WII. Both are find but have different game options. Mario games are great for kids and only come for WII. Disney infinity is a great game for this gas and is for xbox and WII. I would recommend WII. I am probably going to end up getting it just because it seems to have better game options for kids.

    • Hilary

Our daughter got the Wii when she was 5. It was perfect! However, I would go with the Wii U because, from what I read, they may not be making the basic Wii for much longer. Plus, on Disney Infinity, only one player can play the game which was a big disappointment to us.

      • Tobey

Yes WII U and Xbox One are the newest versions so if you are going to buy either on doc these systems I would get the newest version. I have xbox 360 and I often wonder if the games will no longer be available, I wi have to shop game stop instead of amazon… That would be terrible!

  6. Nikki

I reccommend the wii u as a first console it has more family friendly games

When I accessed the link Xbox one is $39? Did the 19.99 price expire?

  8. AngieH

Thank you Colin! My son has been asking for this for months. Going to go to Best Buy and price match and combine it with my rewards certificate and score it for $9.99! He will be so happy and more Christmas shopping done!!!

    • nicolegammeter

      Sweet! 🙂

  9. kayla

The XBox One is not $19.99. Its $30 something

    • nicolegammeter

Hi Kayla! I still see it for $19.99.

      • Hilary

It says Xbox One is $31.25. Are you looking at Xbox 360?

        • nicolegammeter

Sorry about that! It looks like the price on the Xbox One has gone up. 🙁

          • Hilary

Well, pickle! Good to know we weren’t going crazy. Please don’t apologize. Thank you for all you do and for always posting these amazing deals!!

  10. Sara

Does anyone have this game? Is it a good one?

    • Tobey

We rented it from the video store. My son is 5 and he loved it. Rented it two weeks in a row and he has been asking for it ever since it came out.

  11. Stephanie Martyn
