I was going to get a bunch for gifts but the reviews nearly all say the chemical smell is so overwhelming. Changed my mind after that since they would be for others.

Saying “use a scarf” when discussing the use of neoprene for fighting off cold is like saying “grab my toddlers sand pail” for water to put out a bonfire. While it will work to a certain degree, it’s not nearly as effective and has a high probability of failure.
There are so many things that don’t smell “right” when you first buy them due to chemicals. My memory foam mattress is what first comes to my mind, but I let it air out for several days before using it and all was well. At least to my knowledge.
I think, before we condemn the world for buying or using products that might have chemical smells, we might want to think about all the things that were silently evasive. Some examples would be asbestos or how about BPA found in plastic baby bottles, bowls and such. These things we were ingesting while blissfully unaware.

I bought a face mask last year that had a strong odor. I washed and dried as usual and it was find. I figure for the price it is worth a try. The hat was fine after about 4 washes.
I will wash them regular cycle warm wash with warn rinse. My husband has knee braces made of this material and i wash regular and air dry. Hth

Well be happy you didn’t get this.. I just read the reviews, and the one from March 2014 said these shipped three weeks later, and wreak of chemicals that gave the whole family headaches.. I guess you do get what you pay for, so make sure you air these out good before you use them..

I’ve bought these before. one smelled like chemicals, and I believe they refunded me. it takes so long for shipping because it comes from China.

I agree But just because you wash it doesn’t mean the chemical goes away. Lots of scent less carcinogenS are out there. Not worth the risk to me one bit.
Sharon, I was thinking the same thing. You wash the smell away, but you are still wearing (potential) carcinogen causing chemicals on your face. I can’t even imagine what it’s made with as posters have said made in China, so really, you don’t know what you’re wearing on your face. Most people don’t care though.

Ordered one and took almost a month to arrive. Neck piece isn’t nearly as long as pictured, but still does the trick for my husband who installs Windows and doors in negative degree weather. If worn with glasses it will fog them.
