Bought this last Christmas, thought would be a hit, my then 6 yr old boy never put it up. 9 and 11 yr old girls didn’t even touch it after a year. Then I realize I should not buy toys I think my kids might like, just because it’s cheap. Kids nowadays are harder to please. 🙁
Don’t give up hope! We got this a few years ago for my now 11yo boy, and it was too complicated for him. My husband put it together and took it apart, and a few weeks ago all of the sudden the Boy was interested in it and put it together all by himself!

Our boys had one similar, but the one they had came with a solar panel and they spent hours building and running things. But our boys were limited to 30 minutes of tv a day (and only 3 days a week) and electronics were also very limited. Just the other day, one of them asked if we still had it. Mom and dad also spent hours with them building things—-we had a great time with ours.
My boys wanted this so bad two years ago that Santa bought it for them. It was built and running when they woke up.

This was on my oldest wish list a few years ago. “Santa” stayed up really late putting it together. Lots and lots of little pieces and it is a bit persnickity if things are not perfectly aligned. Kids thought it was cool. Played with it a few times and then it was pretty much abandoned. Takes up a ton! of room and it was so complicated we didn’t want to take it all apart. When we moved it was ‘lost’. The kids never missed it. My suggestion… buy Legos instead.
More than half the fun comes from exploring and putting it together. Santa is robbing the kids of all the fun. I would have been so mad as a kid to find my toy put together. I love knex. We actually used them in one of my engineering classes in bridge simulations. They are so flexible. Also, I have to remind myself that if my sons don’t follow the instructions, tht is okay, they are using their imaginations and that is more important. 🙂
