Bake for Good by King Arthur Flour: FREE Kids Program for Schools or Homeschoolers
Calling all Teachers or Homeschool Parents! If you have a child who loves to bake or spend time in the kitchen, be sure to check this out! Bake for Good is a FREE program from King Arthur Flour that teaches kids how to bake bread from scratch and then encourages the kids to give back to the community by donating one of the loaves they bake! Awesome! 🙂
Keep in mind that if your application is approved, an instructor will arrive at your school/home to set up and prepare for the presentation – no oven is required. Be sure to read this How-To manual before applying as they do receive many applications.

Also, be sure to check out what it says on their website:
In our FREE Program, kids LEARN to make bread from scratch. They discover that math, science, reading, and baking know-how add up to delicious bread! Kids are excited to take ingredients and their new skills home to BAKE two loaves; one to keep and enjoy and one to SHARE.
Kids in grades 4-7 learn the skills they need to make delicious bread from scratch, using math, science, baking technique tips, reading and following directions, problem solving, time management, creativity, and more. We provide the ingredients and the know-how to get baking! Kids bake bread at home, and take pride in both their new skills AND the delicious results!
Kids give back to the community and donate a loaf of bread to a local organization, experiencing the joy and satisfaction that comes from helping others. [/h2s_box]

(Thanks, Savvy-Spending!)
sad that is for older kids, my boys still too young for the program
They did this for the middle school where I teach just before vacation. It was a fantastic assembly and the kids loved getting the supplies to go home and bake bread. They were all so proud of the bread they brought in to donate.
That sounds like a great project with a good cause. My kids(pre-K and 2nd grade) love to bake and they always help. I was thinking that I have to let their teachers know about this. Unfortunately it’s only for older kids.
Thanks for this info Collin! My boys and I have been wanting to learn how to bake bread. I’ll let my homeschool group know so we can plan a meeting.
My schools (small) have participated in this program with King Arthur for three years and it has always gone very well. Because we are small we have used the self-directed option (we are provided a DVD rather than a live person).
My son’s school did this in Fourth grade and it’s a great program. The kids who baked the bread at home were in a group picture and it was posted in the local paper. If I recall, there is organic wheat flour included. I was surprised by the high quality of ingredients provided. There is nothing better than giving homemade, healthy food to others! 🙂
