Just because the food contains a component of antifreeze, doesn’t mean that it IS antifreeze. The same component can be found in things like ice cream and Dunkin’ Donuts iced tea.
Again, this is merely some guys allegation in a recently-filed lawsuit. Maybe there is merit to it, but at this point, it is nothing more than allegation.
MD12, you don’t ONLY eat ice cream and DD iced tea all day..if you did, you’d probably get sick too. Dogs only eat this food once or twice a day, that is their MAIN food. For you to argue that antifreeze components are in ice cream (which I don’t eat unless it’s organic) or DD iced tea (which I won’t drink) is not an argument.
I didn’t say that you or anyone ate exclusively ice cream of DD—or even that those were the only two products that contained propylene glycol.
My point was that propylene glycol has been recognized by the FDA to be generally safe for human and animal consumption (except cats). Some people are assuming that just because some guy filed a lawsuit, that it is proof that what he is alleging occurred. Two similar class actions suits were already dismissed. I just prefer to remain skeptical and do my own research.
I would be careful using beneful. They are currently in a huge lawsuit bc their food is making pups very sick.
Just don’t know if I can trust Purina with the news about their Beneful dog food. js
I know people are super concerned about this lawsuit (because they understandably love their pets), but there seems to be a lot of fear-mongering going on. Just because a class action suit was FILED, doesn’t mean that there is any merit to it.

I agree, its only because its gotten the attention of national news. There are lawsuits everyday for everything. My dog has eaten it for years.
This isn’t the FIRST class aciton lawsuit, there were others in prior years as well. Fines paid and move on and few years later here’s another one. So this isn’t the first we’ve heard of this. But all this aside, why RISK giving something to your dog that might do damage?
Also, it’s usually only with a class action lawsuit that problems become know to the masses..otherwise how else would we know there are problems with the product? Some of these lawsuits (for humans as well) save lives, don’t dismiss them so readily.
And the guy who started the law suit is asking for $5 million in compensation…. Really?
After paying $1,000 of dollars on vet bills due to feeding my dog these type of products, I just put it out there. Laugh but I only feed my dog Progresso Soup and for treats Jack Links; I no longer buy any dog products. So is it wise for me to publically inform individuals like yourself to be aware of chemically enhanced products which could do damage to animals which in fact almost killed my dog; YES! I did not file lawsuits against the manufacturing company along with others that have choose not too.
Until something with their products can be ruled out. I cannot imagine anyone who would give their dog anything made by this company. Just to much to chance.
I do not put much stock in something just because there is a law suit, However I DO put A LOT of Thought when Over 3,000 Animals have Died due to injesting this product (More have been close to death, & had severe liver damage from it) Due to that ,I Do have a problem! Currently my husband & I feed our animals Nutrish (by Rachel Ray – I’m not advocating anybody feeding their animals that, just stating a fact. ) So Please all animal Lovers ,be careful with your babies! There are many products that do not get alerts or pulled from the shelves… Especially for animals, as the FDA considers them property not loved ones unfortunately 😢
Very well said (and a pat on the back).
Make your own dog treats with your own ingredients….I make mine. Google search some recipes, it’s easy! Make a huge batch, freeze what you have left over and just take out as needed. No RISK, no worries! Your pets are only with you a short time, why not give them real food for those short years, real snacks…..make those few years good years!
dogfoodadvisor.com has a good rating system for pet foods and snacks.
Just give this the same amount of thought you would if it was regular food we all eat everyday. You never know until proven otherwise.
can you stack the $1 off 2 target coupon for the beneful snacks?
Do you have to spend all $40 in one transaction? I have busy coupons I want to use but I know Target only lets you use 4 at a time.
Target has its own coupon for $1 off 2 bags of Beneful baked treats, $1 off busy treats and 10% cartwheel for both! 🙂
We used to buy the beneful snacks all the time for our pups, but we know 1st hand how a dog food or treat can impact a dogs health. Not even a $1.50 coupon will tempt me to buy a food that has a remote chance of making my pups sick. Why risk it?
