Went to Target to pick up some great deals, the seat part of the shopping cart broke sending my 2 year old son tumbling backwards into the part of the cart holding all of the groceries. His finger also got skinned in the process and took an hour to stop bleeding. Inspect your shopping carts ladies (and men), I will not be going back to that location again (North Buffalo, NY).
I’m very sorry that happened to you and your son, but that could happen at any location of Target- or any other store with carts.

About two years ago my brand new $500.00 leather jacket got ripped on the door jamb of their dressing room and I can tell you it would have costed a lot more money to sue then to just buy a new jacket. They are a very hard company to deal with. That is one of the reasons I don’t shop there too much. I really dislike the store after my ordeal.
Agreed. I’m so sorry it happened. But sometimes it’s our own responsibility to check a cart before placing our child in it just as much as it is theirs. It’s no ones fault, but it is unfortunate.
I agree. Suing is ridiculous. As a parent I could empathize with how upsetting that must have been (bc I too would have been upset.. Fuming!) but at the end of the day, it’s your own child and your own responsibily to keep them safe. Inspecting the location in which you are placing them is your responsibility.
Parents are NOT supposed to be putting their kids in the carts, anyway. Most carts (not sure about Target but I’ll be going there today and checking) state not to put a kid in the cart right ON the card. Not their fault you didn’t read, if it’s there… just sayin’. Sorry he got the booboo, but suing is ridick.

I don’t recall if there’s an age or weight limit, but I believe Michelle put her tot in the proper part of the cart where there’s belt and two holes for the legs. It just happened to break sending her tot backwards into the main part of the cart. Sorry that happened to you, Michelle. I think things that happen makes us all more careful and mindful when we encounter the same situation again (like double checking now before trusting store carts). It’s just like trusting that a chair will hold you, but in reality a chair can also fail.

For what it is worth, my daughter as an infant flipped in a cart in a similar scenario. It was scary and I was livid. She’s survived the ordeal and is now 18. We do revisit the story and chuckle about it now. At the time not so much tho’.
As mentioned above, children are not supposed to be placed in carts’ seats anyway, and this should be marked on all carts already. Not their fault if someone is negligent in reading and does so anyway.

I was able to upgrade my phone at Target this weekend! I purchased the iPhone 6 which was on sale for $169.99. With the 10% Cartwheel I paid $153. On top of this, I received a $50 gift card (surprise to me), and paid with my Red Card for an additional 5% off. So in all, I paid about $145 – NOT including the gift card. I used the $50 gift card to purchase Apple Care Insurance – HALF OFF!!!!
I will be going back this week to also trade in my old phone for store credit – that’s an extra $40 in my pocket. Beats having to go to your cell provider and wait in those long lines as they try and nickel & dime you!

So, funny story…my husband and son were playing with one of the display models of a new iphone at our target, and clicked on the “photos” app and it came up with a TON of porn. My son is 4 and hubby covered the phone before he could see the pics. We notified the clerk in the department, and he turned beet red. We laugh about it, because it could happen anywhere.
