Thanks for sharing this! I’m always looking for something for my son so I’m looking forward to trying this out!

      You’re so welcome, Daphne! 🙂

I just signed up and had my daughter who is in fifth grade take the assessment. Looks to be pretty good so far and I love that I didn’t have to enter credit card info.

It’s so great to see so many fellow homeschoolers 🙂 were unfortunately not able to partake in this one still too early for those grades but I’m glad to see some posts on homeschool things. Also would love to hear what curriculums people are using my dd is in kindergarten and we use sonlight but I’m curious of others out there.

Too early for us too but it’s nice to see other homeschoolers😊

Tanya, we don’t use an “all-in-one” program at this time. I have a 4th grader and one in Kindergarten. We mix and match depending on the child. My son and daughter both use Horizons Math, Apologia Science and BJU for reading (for my oldest). For History we use Story of the World. I’m starting to look into some online curriculum for my son because (let’s be honest) this momma doesn’t want to teach anything like Calculus or anything else my wanna be engineer son needs LOL I’m struggling with fractions…math is not my thing! 🙂 And of course we use videos/books to mix things up a little. Looking forward to reading what others are using!

Hey you ought to check out ABeka. It’s a homeschool curriculum that’s amazing! I graduated from them myself. You can start as early as k4! It’s an accredited DVD or online streaming school. U don’t have to teach anything! The DVDs are videotaped at their school in Florida and u get to actually set thru each class just like in real school! Amazing program!

I use CTC math for my fifth grader. It is awesome! We also use Brain Pop and Time4Learning for other subjects

Love CTC math, we hae tried almost every math program out for our 5 kids. CTC is the only one that each kid not only loves, but that they seem to retain much better as well. We have used K, 1st, 4th, 5th, Algebra, Geometry and pre-cal. I think we will use it for all the kids from now on.

Thank you guys for all of your comments. Im going to look into the others until we find the one that really works for us.

I use Rod and Staff for my 10 years old daughter and love it! Science, I use Answers in Genesis and also Truth in Science.

I appreciate the deal, but this company promotes Common Core State Standards, and we want absolutely nothing to do with them. Thanks anyway!

    • TeresaS

Same here:( Try CTC Math. We love them, and they are not to expensive for all you get and how easy it is even for young kids to use.

I’ve used ALEKS for my university chemistry courses (it was required), and it was very good at making sure we understood the fundamentals. I will admit that it was a pain in the butt though, mainly because we’d be so close to finishing, and then get a question wrong. Then it would assign even more problems. Other than the frustration it brought out (trust me, come due date you could hear everyone in my dorm cursing out ALEKS lol) , it was a very effective learning tool. Hopefully all you homeschooling parents find this program helpful, and may it bring out less frustration in your children than what my peers and I experienced 😉

My kiddos did this program for 2 years 3-5th grade in home school. When they enrolled in private school last year they both tested 99% in the math portion of their entrance test. They were awarded the Duke Scholar Award. They are in 6th and 7th this year and both skipped a grade in math. We do a refresher course every summer!

My children’s private school offers this course/curriculum for review or for students who want to advance. Lots of students have had success with the program.

I used Switched on Schoolhouse for all of my kids, which was wonderful! Two years ago, they went back to public school (biggest mistake ever!). Now, they are back on Switched on Schoolhouse, but are behind in their skills. Thank you for sharing this. I have been looking for ways to get them back on top over the summer.

This is a great program. My children’s public school pays for a subscription to ALEKS. It’s great for extra practice or learning new skills. I like that its aligned to the Common Core standards. The Common Core standards are tough but we like a challenge! You have to challenge yourself in order to grow!
