Everyone please read about Beneful before you buy it. I am shocked this hasn’t been pulled off the shelves yet. Could be nothing but I wouldn’t chance it with my pets.

The reports on Beneful are downright scary. Not worth saving money if it is going to cause serious harm to my pet.

I’m shocked it is still being sold…I thought there was a recall on it. My dogs loved it but I stopped using it, and would like to know if and when it’s safe again. Or maybe NOT worth the risk…

This stuff has so many fillers and preservatives in it, that it’s best avoided if you can help it. Ultimately, you have to feed more volume of a lower quality food like Beneful to get your dog enough and the poor quality of the ingredients means more health issues over time. In the long run, feeding your dog a better quality food (if you can afford to) will actually be what saves you money. Check out dogfoodadvisor.com. With online deals (petango, chewy, wag, etc.) you can get at least 3- and 4-star dog foods at reasonable prices.

My vet once told me (I was trying to convince my finance at the time, husband now that we needed to switch his dog from Beneful to Nutro because we were moving in together, but he thought it was too expensive) “feeding Beneful is like eating McDonalds everyday, twice a day, would you do that? Then why feed it to your pooch?” Needless to say, I’ve used this analogy many times since then.

There’s a $5 off 2, 7-lb or larger bags Purina dry food Target coupon from the newspaper a while back. Too bad I don’t have a dog!

If you can get a great deal you can always donate to your local shelter 🙂

I always keep all coupons, even for items I don’t use. I still do the (reasonable) deals and give to friends/family who can use the items!

A vet will tell you the plainer the color the better. Benefit has all kinds of dyes not to mention whatever might be killing dogs. Be careful!
