    Well that’s neat!

  2. April

I also got an email today for free prime pantry shipping if I add 4 coke products. I’m sure there are some inexpensive things to add.

    • Mona

Nice! I wish I got that email!

  3. T

    Yippee!!!

  4. Sjack

    Wowww

  5. Jennifer N

    Yippee!!!

  6. Laura

Finally some great news about Amazon! ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. james

Being a prime member i would like to see how im going to be compensated now that everyone gets free delivery with no memeber ship on small items?prehaps a 6 month extension

    • Melissa

I agree completely. Its great news for people that don’t spend the $99.00 on Prime but it de-values my membership. I am not exactly thrilled with this news. May have to rethink paying for the membership come July when I am up for renewal.

      • mady

I believe Prime members get 2 day shipping while this new program gets standard shipping. Being 8oz probably will go first class, likely taking a week or so to arrive. So hopefully the 2 day shipping is worth the $99 a year, that and most prime members buy enough throughout the year, items that weigh over 8oz ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Bobbi

Don’t be sad–your 8 oz packages will also be free!

      • Melissa

I’m not sad. I’m irritated. I pay for this service. Now they are giving it away for free.
I don’t stream their movies and I don’t use the other things they have to offer except for Amazon Mom so I think it cheapens my paying membership. I don’t think I am the only person who will feel like this. I think they will lose a bunch of members over this announcement.

        • Lindsay

Since I have been a prime member I can’t think of one time my package has been under 8 oz.

          • Tanya

            That’s what I was thinking I can’t imagine anything I buy that’s only 8oz.

            • Delia

I have no problem with this since I don’t buy small items.

          • Tyra

Me either. That’s like a a pack of pens. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

        • frqancine

Don’t renew it then. Too bad for you , not taking advantage of movies, kindle downloads, etc. Perhaps this is not a good choice for you?

    • Tiffany Mo

If u read the article it says… But Amazon has been also trying to sweeten the deal for Amazon Prime members, who were initially offered two-day shipping for free, but could now be getting free shippingย within just a few hours. Amazon is also offeringย one-hour food deliveryย for certain neighborhoods with its Prime Now service.

      • alicia

Tiffany thats only is certain areas, and I know that my area is not one of those area’s so im wondering what they will do for those who wont be getting shipping the same day!

      • Cassandra

I’m sure that’s only for locations that they list. Same-day shipping is available already…but only in select locations. They’re not going to deliver a package on the same day in my small, tiny town.

I agree with Melissa. Sites like eBay generally have the same items, sometimes cheaper, and often times, offer free shipping. Why pay $99 for the service? Isn’t Walmart doing the same thing now for $50? Oh Amazon. ๐Ÿ™

      • lindak

Yes, I received an email about Prime Now, $20 off a $50 purchase. I’ll probably check that out.

    • vickie

And to think, I almost signed up for prime! LOL

  8. Cassandra

I also read on another site (I haven’t had a chance to read on Amazon) that the item’s shipping eligibility won’t be determined until checkout. Seems kind of inconvenient to assume the item would be eligible, then get all the way to checkout to find out that it isn’t.

  9. Sam

Let me guess–the “me me me” crowd will be whining about the new free shipping policy?

    • Cassandra

It’s not ‘me me me’ if you’re paying $100 a year for what should be an exclusive service.

      • Laura

I agree! I pay extra for prime member perks and now Amazon is giving away free shipping for everyone? Really

    • Judy

      Nailed it!

    • kiana2014Sltemple20

And let me guess-the “I’m getting Amazon free shipping for small items” crowd will be acting like jerks!

    • meg

Lol! Someone is always going to complain.

  10. e

Meh, I get my monies worth from my Amazon Prime, I’m not worried about it.

    • Amber

      Same here!
Since we cut our outrageous cable bill, we’ve enjoyed streaming Prime instant videos and have racked up a few good tv series in the process. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Elen

Me too. Most of the stuff I get are over a pound. Do don’t bother me ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Melanie

Agreed!! What’s under eight ounces anyway?

  11. sldoyle10

To the writer named James above, in no way shape or form should you be entitled to any additional money or extension of your Prime membership just because Amazon decides to change their shipping policy on small items. Please do not feel entitled because you signed up for the Amazon Prime membership knowing what the terms of the agreement were.

  12. Mary

People are getting upset over 8oz packages being shipped free????
Come on people there are bigger problems in this WORLD to be getting upset over this. Lol.
Wow we are a spoiled nation for real.

    • Maria

      Seriously!!!

  13. Angie

Exactly, NO ONE TWISTED HIS ARM! The correct verbiage is “entitled”.

  14. Pamela

I have had Prime for years and think this would benefit us those times we would have to pay for shipping on lightweight non Prime items?

    • Cassandra

This is true Pamela. I guess I can understand a little from both sides of the spectrum. They’re doing what is necessary to remain a leader in online retailing! ๐Ÿ˜Œ

  15. poonam

wow ..this is great news !!i would suggest amazon again do free shipping on n above $25 not $35.

  16. ~jenn~

I think before people comes to blows; I agree that paying for something and then a situation changes pretty much blows tots. I think if people really think about it, how many items are you buying/being sent that weigh less than 8 ounces AND cost less than 10 dollars? If you can say it’s a big portion of your purchases drop Prime and don’t subscribe again.
I mean why not blow a gasket over the subscribe and save that pays no shipping at all, the weight could be limitless and you can cancel at anytime even if you only get the item once?
Deal is, you get your item in a coupe of days and your options of purchases are endless. All these other shipping offers can’t say that. Bottom line though is, a deal is never set in stone because of that pesky little sentence, “we reserve the right to change this agreement at any time.”
    Sad, but true.

  17. Lauren

Long time amazon prime member and I can’t honestly say I’ve bought many items 8 ounces or less. Still feel the membership pays for itself especially on my subscribe and save bulk orders.

  18. Mike F

Don’t fret! I tried buying a iPad case that I have been wanting for a while, but they still wanted to charge me shipping (it only weighs 4.8oz). Remember, it says only on some items, so its a good deal on some stuff

    • Laura

Check out the end caps at target in the electronic dept. our store had a bunch on clearance. Less than $10

      • Mike F

I will have to check thanks! I found one online that has a smartcover attached to it! The smart cover alone is $20 or so if you buy it alone. This case also comes with a back. Its not the greatest (hence why i’m buying another), but if i can get it no shipping its not a problem!

        • Jennifer

I was looking for these a few weeks ago on amazon but found the same one on ebay (the smartcover with the back) – a generic one for about $6 free shipping. it arrives and looks just fine. With amazon it was more because most sellers added about $5 shipping, so I can see if they gave free shipping on things like this amazon would get more customers, I know I went elsewhere.

  19. Pam L.

This is great for those of us that don’t have prime!!

  20. Anne

You people complain too much. If you don’t like It, quit your prime membership! And STFU!

    • emma

I understand that you have your viewpoint and are entitled to that;however, I am disappointed to see the STFU comment on hip2save. It’s offensive, uncalled for, and frankly shows a lack of class.

      • x

        Agreed

    • betty

Why is everyone taking this to the nines?

  21. Jenni

It doesn’t say that they get 2day shipping, just free shipping, right? If it’s going thru snail mail (as I assume it would be for a package of that size/weight), I’m not bothered by this as a long time Prime member. If they were giving the same 2-day, then I could see getting irked.

  22. jessicag2711

Can’t we all just get along? I have prime and think that the no tax (for the most part bc I’m in Illinois) and free 2 day shipping on virtually anything is a luxury I’m willing to pay for. I say good for those people that are able to take advantage of this new deal. It’s a couponing website, clearly we’re all here to save as much as we can. We all miss out on deals sometimes but we also make it up thanks to Collin and her tipsters. Thanks to all those that help (stepping off my soapbox)

    • Amanda

No tax was a big bonus for me too, but they just opened a warehouse or something here (I’m in Ohio) in the last month or so and now I have to pay it. Booo! :oP

    • Laura

Generally, for internet purchases that you are not charged sales tax on, you are required to track those purchases and pay the amount that would be sales tax in a use tax. I’m in MI, not IL, so I’m not familiar with the rules in your state. In MI, it is a line on our individual income tax returns. In practice, most people blow it off and don’t report it. MI passed a law late last year that will require Amazon and other internet retailers without a physical presence in this state to start collecting and remitting sales tax on purchases shipped to MI addresses.

  23. Bill

Not an issue for our family. We stopped using Amazon when they started charging tax in our state! We might go back with free shipping and no tax but for now just too many other business that do a better job and the total payout is less than Amazon!

  24. Brittany

Also a prime member. I often come across purchases (make up, cards, toys) that are light weight and are only add on items. I hate this and see the “small item free shipping” as a benefit to me as well. Kudos to us all and the online shopping era ๐Ÿ™‚ loving it.

  25. Tana Farnsworth

    Ahhhh . . . These first world problems. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Mary

      LOL!!

    • debbie

      totally great!!! love your comment!!

  26. April

When did hip2save get bombarded with the internet police. Way to many comments telling people their feelings are stupid.

  27. meg

I think this is great. Why are people so upset over this? If it really bothers everyone so much then just cancel your membership. Smh.

  28. bernadett

Yay! I think there r so many grouchy ppl out there. Look at it like this… u bought something and the next day it’s on sale. I mean it s just luck. And Ou have way more perks w tht than u der 8 Oz. Once in a blood moon.

  29. brandice

Yeah..I’m in Ga and really hated when they started adding tax..it makes a diff

    • e

That’s not Amazon’s fault though, it’d the government

    • MommySpendsLess

It’s my understanding (not a lawyer or accountant) that businesses have to charge you sales tax if they have a physical location in your state. Technically, if you purchase something and the seller doesn’t collect tax you’re supposed to track and remit the taxes yourself, but I believe there are minimum dollar amounts that apply so this is mostly a problem for businesses, not individuals. So it’s not Amazon’s choice to start charging you tax, they just have a building in your state now – probably a warehouse/distribution center now.

    • Amanda

I’m in Ohio and they just started charging tax in the last couple weeks or so. It makes a big difference.

    • Laura

Generally, for internet purchases that you are not charged sales tax on, you are required to track those purchases and pay the amount that would be sales tax in a use tax. So yes, it makes a difference, but it’s something that you should have been paying previously.

  30. SoxGirl1029

I get my prime cheaper by sharing with friends. You can have 4 people on one membership and just split it. The people you add on aren’t able to stream movies, but so what. I just want it for the free shipping anyway.

  31. j

LOL…….Collin!!! Are you reading this??? It’s like a soap opera!! God bless America!

  32. JA

Geez, cleanup on aisle three. These comments are a mess.

    • Sam

LOL hahahaha!!!!! They are a mess indeed ๐Ÿ˜‰

  33. Amanda

I just hope Amazon doesn’t jack up the prices of these under 8oz items before offering free shipping. LOL

  34. Ebbie

Wow. Not sure why some people think they can tell another person what they should think or how they should feel. I remember when Commenters on here were for the most part respectful of each other.

  35. Kristy

Will this do away with add on items? That’s what I would love to see happen.

  36. Nora

I just wanted to order an item for 5.99 and 2.9oz and Amazon wants for shipping 6.62!!! This doesn’t work!
    Items: $5.99
    Shipping & handling: $6.62
    Total before tax: $12.61
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
    Order total: $12.61
