[h2s_box]There’s a sweet deal for home schoolers, courtesy of LEGOLAND in Florida! I was able to book my family of 7 a vacation day there for an amazing price! A normal adult ticket (ages 13+) is $89 and a child (ages 3-12) is $82. With the amazing home school deal, tickets are $13.38 per child (up to age 18 as long as they are home schooled) and $26.75 per adult. If you want to add a second day (on a home school day), it’s an additional savings of $10 off per adult for the second day, making each adult only $16.75 each on day 2!

Having a large family of seven, a fun trip to Florida can be very expensive. Disney is out of our budget at somewhere around $100 per ticket. This deal will not only allow for a great day of fun at an awesome theme park but also an affordable day of family fun![/h2s_box]

Thanks!! We go to Disney World every year right before spring break, this year we are going for the Dopey Challenge. But we have never been able to justify the cost of LegoLand when Disney and Universal have amazing military rates that are about 1/4 to 1/3 of the price. If you can say Disney is cheaper then it’s not worth the price. Lol. I am excited to go finally though and it looks like we will be there for 5 of the HS days and will be going to them all :).

  2. Nikki

Do you have to have house school certificate

    • Kim

*Examples of verification include; a copy of county letter of intent, proof of involvement with local support group, non-traditional school or umbrella school or involvement in a state organization sucha s FPEA, HSLDA, HEF and CHESS.

I’m not a member of anything except a local group (Does my meetup.com history count? ;)). As our state requires no notices or any other listed item. It would be worth the low yearly membership of one of the listed groups to save that much money.

      • Nikki

Thank you so much for explaining that !!

  3. Melissa

Legoland was our best vacay ever! My 60 disabled mother has been to Hawaii, Bahamas, etc and says so too. She was able to get on every ride she chose and they are sooooooooo family friendly. Their water park was great too. Go as many days as you can while in Florida.

    Kim

Which group is the cheapest to join?

    • Kim

I know off hand that HSDLA is $110 a year but not sure what states it’s available in, I don’t think it’s available where I live since they can’t verify our HS status or give us legal services? I would check out your state or cities local groups they would be less money. I know we have some around us that are $40 a year and they give you student and teacher’s ID cards and membership verification.

  5. Crystal

Thank you so much!! Just by switching days we will save $175! I’m so excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

Confused—–Why should a home schooled child get an $82 ticket for $13 but a child in public or private school have to pay full price???? I don’t consider this to be fair from LEGOLAND.

    • Angela

Its because children in public school go on discounted field trips throughout the year. Homeschool are not offered the same things all the time. Working with Legos is a great mathematical tool and visiting is a great field trip for homeschooled families. Just my thought as a homeschooling parent.

      • Jess

Sadly most public schools have cancelled all field trips. And the discount is lost when they try to charge added fees for the buses and gas costs. Mathematically this could benefit all students so I agree with you.

      • Cheryl

My kids are in the public school and do not get discounted field trips. In fact it would have been less money to take them myself with library passes so I am not sure why Legoland only offers this discount for homeschool children.

On a different note in the Lego Magazine (which is free) there are coupons for free child admission with a paid adult pass.

    • Kim

They offer cheaper rates to public school students who go with their class, usually free for the students anyway paid for by the tax payers. That is why they offer the discount, to be fair. They are loosing money those days anyway since everyone is in school, so it’s not about “fair” it’s about profit and knowing how to bring people in on empty days.

      • Jess

Makes sense but I can assure you no field trips to theme parks are free. Our Epcot trips were only discounted $20

      • Jenn

Free? No. I have two children in public schools and field trips are very pricey.

    • couponpb

As a mom of both a public school student and a home school student, I think this is GREAT! My daughter (public school) gets to go on great field trips with her classmates where my son (homeschooled due to exceptionalities) goes places with me alone or with his sister. This is a great opportunity for homeschoolers to interact with other homeschoolers and even make some friends..

      • Jess

Glad it has worked for you. As a parent of special needs children, I can relate. Fortunately they were able to attend school successfully, but we had to skip many field trips that were too overstimulating and overwhelming. Happy to see your son is able to enjoy places with you or his sister.

    • Tanya

Why do you have to complain. I hate that people always have to find something to complain about; why cant it just be a nice jester that a company is offering without someone finding something to complain about. That’s what’s really not fair.

      • Jess

It’s not about complaining. It’s about being fair to all children. I don’t consider it a “Gesture” on LEGOLAND’s part.

        • Sheila

If its about fairness for you, then please realize homeschooling families pay the same amount of property taxes which support public schools that their children do not attend. Life’s not fair. It’s just nice that Legoland offers a discount period. Attitude is one of the only things in life we have control over so why not practice the attitude of gratitude.

          • Jess

Gratitude? So I should be grateful your child can go to LEGOLAND for $13 and mine has to pay $82 for the same ticket when we both pay the same property taxes. Nicely stating to please understand that makes no sense.

            • Rebecca

A portion of those taxes we are paying benefit your kids & public schools, not ours. That was her point.

      • Tina

“Jester.” Written like a true homeschool parent.

        • Rebecca

          That’s low.

        • Tanya

How sweet of you my phone autocorrected. You have a great day!

    • Jessich

I agree with Jess. It’s not fair. My kids go to public school and their school will never take a field trip to legoland and with the steep ticket prices, we will never be able to afford to go even though my kids beg to go. The field trips they take are usually not hugely discounted like that, they might save $1 or $2 if any.

      • miche

My school did a field trip to legoland this year and if was about the same price. I think maybe $8 was tacked on for the charter bus. We also did a field trip to sea world for $25 a kid. So it is the same rate, only the parent gets to choose the date in this case. I think it’s just as fair. These rates are offered to public school students year round but they have to go with their school. Home schooled children don’t get these opportunities for discounted prices. Sorry some schools don’t let their kids go on field trips, but don’t say a theme park offering something like this isn’t fair to public school kids. They have way more opportunities than home schooled kids. Let the home school families enjoy something without complaining

        • Jessich2@yahoo.com

Wow. Your kids are so lucky. Our school only ever go to parks and zoos and the prices they pay for the field trip once every year are usually the same price sometimes or a little more than the door price. The school gets to choose the date, not the parents or the students. I’m not saying this is not fair because homeschooler get the great discount. I think it’s great Lego offer them this opportunity. I just think that Legoland should offer these great rates to the kids in the general public sometimes too so that all kids especially those in less fortunate family can get to enjoy them.

      • Leo

Maybe you should talk to your PTA or whoever handles that kind of stuff? It says that’s more than the public school rate. So your students could go cheaper than the $10 rate.

Lego while having some rides is not just a “theme park” it has thousands of learning opportunities. That is why they have such a steep educational rate for all educators.

      • FL mom

If your kid(s) go to a public school in FL join their PTA. PTA frequently offers $25-$35 Legoland tickets for any member in FL & their family.

        • Jenn

I have been a member of different PTAs and never knew this. I will be checking it out. Thanks!

We are planning a Disney trip in September. My kids are 5, 6 and 8. We are staying in a Disney resort. Would be it worth leaving Disney to get in on this deal? My kids have always expressed an interest in going, just not sure if it is worth leaving Disney.

    • Carrie

Legoland is fun but it is not Disney. The pace is much slower and less to do. If your family loves the Disney experience, just know that Legoland is much different. The ages of your children are perfect for Legoland right now though. It is better for younger kids.

    • V

I would highly recommend Legoland! The lines are shorter = less wait time with no fast passes required. If your kids are a fan of Legos; it is a very unique place to visit. I would check the height requirements to see if your children can ride the rides before deciding. If you go; bring spare clothes or easy to dry clothes for the rides that you will get wet on.

    • Hope

No, definitely do Disney if you are already planning on going. If you are able to do this homeschooling deal it’s worth it to go on a day you aren’t attending a disney park if you will be in the area a couple of days.

  11. Melissa

The public schools can get a steep discount also. If you view their site, groups of 15 or more students get a great discount (I believe the SAME one!)

I also agree on why complain about it too? Homeschoolers get a discount & groups of 15 get the discount… Say thanks and be happy ๐Ÿ™‚ SO technically public school or private school kids get the SAME discount when going as a group. The homeschool days are designated as such with educational activities for the kids.

Other places offer discounts like Disney for education programs of which my kids would never get to be a part of since they are homeschooled and not going with a large school choir or band. It’s about being thankful for what you have though and about whatever deal you do get. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jenn

$215 for my daughter to go to one of the theme parks with her choir. Park, bus and for her dinner. Pretty pricey for a school field trip but I don’t feel like it was discounted. We were able to do a fundraiser for it. Thankful for that!

  12. D

I’d love it if the California LegoLand would do this!!!!

    • Sheila

Haven’t checked recently but a year ago or so saw both Seaworld & Legoland in CA offered HS discounts. HTH.

      • D

Thanks Sheila, I’ll watch for it! We just moved to San Diego and are always on the lookout for fun things for field trips. We actually did do a gears-learning class at LegoLand last year with our charter school and it was really neat and my child still relates to it when we see something moving like that!

    • couponsvgdiva

They have a $25 day in April or May

  13. Sarah

legoland Ca does do this for homeschoolers. It’s on their website.

  14. Turbomommy

I agree that the public school discounts are not discounted nearly as much as home schoolers somehow are led to believe. By the time schools add on the bus fees the Disney field trip would be cheaper with a FL resident ticket. Also schools charge the same fee for parents to chaperone so a $90 field trip turns into nearly $200.

  15. april

    Awesome! Thanks for the tip!!

  16. rljohnston1974

Does anyone know if the second day has to be used on one of the highlighted homeschool days as well or if it can be used on a second consecutive day? I work for a homeschool program and would LOVE to share this with my families ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Erin

Keep an eye out for coupons for free kids tickets to Legoland, too. I’ve gotten lots of free kids tickets coupons with the purchase of adult tickets. I know I got some at Kidsfest, but I’ve somehow gotten them elsewhere, too. I get them so frequently that I assumed that it was like touristy beach attractions: there’s always a coupon available if you look.

  18. Rebecca

Wow, some people. Makes me glad I do homeschool lol.

    • Tanya

I was thinking the same thing. If this is how the parents act i can only imagine how they are teaching their kids.

      • Jessich2@yahoo.com

And that remark you just made is totally mature. I hope you are not teaching your kids that expressing their opinions are wrong and will get judged harshly by others.

        • Rebecca

It’s totally fine to express opinions. But whining about how something isn’t “fair”, as you said, is a bit different. As multiple people have pointed out, they have comparable rates for large school groups. If your school is not taking advantage of that, that’s on them. Often school trips tack on $$ for lots of other ridiculous things. But again, that’s not on Legoland. Take that up with your school.

    • Hope

Some people are just so ridiculously petty, my goodness. Want your child to get homeschool discounts? Homeschool them. Want them to go to legoland? pay for it out of your own pocket or find coupons. Public school students can often get discounts for various things as well.

  19. Christine

They also have the “buy an adult ticket and get a child ticket free”. They do this ticket quite often. Here is a link to the coupon code right now: https://legoland.com/legostore2015/ Good through September 30.

My kids loved Legoland. My youngest daughter (5 when we went) was able to go on all the rides except 1. She is a very small child, always the shortest in her class. She was so happy and had a blast. Legoland is definitely geared towards the younger crowd. I think my oldest daughter, who is 10 now, would probably only like it for a year or two more.

You know one of the things I like best about this site is the kindness and helpfulness that everyone shows- sharing codes and ideas. This sniping makes me sad. Thank you Collin and team for all you do. Everyone have a good day.

  21. BrookeC

I love this site for the fact that it truly is a community of people wanting to share with others, great opportunities that would otherwise be missed! Collin has blessed so many of our families with various deals that we ALL have taken advantage of at some point. Having a “What about me…” mindset is going to deter deals from being shared and create businesses to stop certain deals, which will benefit no one. If a certain deal doesn’t apply to your family at that moment, be grateful that there is a WILLING community that will share one in the near future. Let’s encourage one another and remember that there are very few of us that Collin has met, but she continues to share her heart of basically “gifting” our families with things and opportunities we may otherwise not be able to benefit from. (And I’m sure not all of them apply to her) Let’s keep it positive, she works hard at paying it forward and sharing with us!

  22. Lily

I’m always grateful to all of this companies that offer discount or “Homeschool Days”- one of them in particular is Ripley’s (Aquariums, Believe-It-or Not Museums, etc) which offer special Homeschool rates everyday.

  23. Mrs. T

Thanks for all the additional home school discounts in the comments. I would ask Collin if she could post more that she might be made aware of but I’m afraid people would complain that it didn’t pertain to the public school kids. Sad.

  24. Kristie

Does anyone still have the details on this? I am trying to click the link now as we go to Florida in a couple weeks, and now the home school deal link isnt working ๐Ÿ™
