If you are a frequent Target shopper, you likely know that Target hosts a Toy Clearance event twice a year – usually in January and July – where select toys and possibly other items are marked up to 70% off! AND it appears that today may be the day for many of you! And remember that many items may not be marked on clearance so be sure to use the price scanner!

Here are just a few of the deals that I spotted at my local store in Boise, Idaho. Note that clearance varies greatly by region/store…

* VTech Tote & Go Laptop $5.98 (reg. $19.99)
* Fisher Price Imaginext Pirate Ship $28.48 (reg. $56.99)
* PlayDoh Sofia the First $6.48 (reg. $12.99)
* Leap Frog Explorer Hello Kitty Mathematics Game $7.70 (reg. $25.59)
* VTech Innotab Monsters University Problem Serving Game $7.70 (reg. $25.69)
* Tag Junior $7.67 (reg. $25.69)
* Disney Frozen Summer Singin’ Olaf $3.28 (reg. $10.96)

Awesome a lot of toys were already marked down 70%. I got the Barbie endless curls abd sparkle studio dolls for $6.80 each last week after cartwheel. They retail for $25 each. Have to go back and check for more toys.

  2. Tamara

Is this just in stores or online to?

    • nicolegammeter

      It’s in-store. 🙂

  3. Jennifer B

I was at our target at 8am and the prices were still awful. There isn’t even much left at this point because people bought it all up at 30% !

    • Cassandra

It’s the same way at my Target.

      • Sg

        Same here

    • Jennifer

I went at 8:00 but they just had not gotten to their toy markdowns yet. I had to ask someone to check the price and they put a new sticker on for me.

May have to check it out. Does anyone recommend the vtech tote and go laptop for a 3 year old? thanks

    • Sonal

      Both my kids loved it!

    • Renee

Yes! Perfect for a 3 year old. We have an iPad and my 4 yr old still plays with this tool and can do the alphabet games well. Plus you can plug it up to a laptop to download more activities.

    • Dianne

Have always loved the V-tech toys for the grandkids. It is a name you can trust.

Found a leappad ultra for $64.99 and accessory packs for $7 that included a leappad 2 case, charger and $20 download card. Debating whether or not to keep as these tablets have mixed reviews. Anyone have experience? Also found Gabby chatster for $15 at Walmart…there was a big display on end cap.

    • Pao

My daughter has the leappad 2 since she was 4, she still loves it!
I found the leappad ultra xdi today for $38.98 i bought to upgrade hers!
      I highly recommend it!!

    • APS

My kids have leap pad 1 and 2. They both got them when they were around 3 years old; they are 5 and 7 now and still love them! Sounds like you scored a great deal!!

      • Mama2014

Thanks! Mine are 5 and 7 as well.

      • Moni

love leappad, daughter’s favorite. dislike kindle fire

I would love to do some early Christmas shopping. The problem is that I would find it hard to wait that long to give the gifts. Or I would probably forget where I had stashed the gifts and have to buy new ones anyway. Anyone else?

    • Mama2014

      My issue is nosy kids!

    • Kiwi

I write things down. Also I have a tote just for gifts. It has been quite handy when time to give a gift.

    • chrissy

I do a lot of site to store for Christmas presents they always come in huge boxes and I hide stuff in those boxes in our closet. Kids dont have a clue. Now if they are in plastic bags I have curious kids

    • Shannon

I’ve always done shopping early – especially for nieces/nephews – it’s great to get toys on clearance. For my own kids, I tend to overbuy, so I’m trying to wait it out until it gets a little closer to Christmas (usually completely stock up on Costco toys…lol). I purchased one of those large tupperware containers and throw the presents in there that I get throughout the year. That way, if we’re invited to a birthday party or something, I have something to choose from and I know where everything is at. My kids are starting to get to the nosy stage and can’t read yet, but if they can read, I suggest putting the box out in the garage and write on the side something like, “Office Supplies” or “Old Clothes” so they won’t want to go peeking through. Hope that helps!

    • Sara

I keep a list too and my hubby hides them in the attic by category (christmas, easter, etc.)

    • Annette

I also hide mine in large plain cardboard boxes in my garage. I bought a new vacuum cleaner a few months ago; I have a bunch of toys in there. I know what you mean though, I just bought 2 fur real pets for $15 each, so tempted to give them to my girls tonight!

  7. Jessica

Target toy clearances are NOT what they used to be. WAH 🙁

    • Erin

Nope. I think the markdown stages are overpromoted and when people get to the store and find higher prices, they buy anyway since they’re already there.

  8. Jennifer

this is the most disappointed I have been in the target toy clearance sale

  9. SimpleSearchMarketing

A few weeks ago I got a great deal on Dora that lights up and sings (kinda reminds me of the glo worms we had as kids) and it was regular price $27 marked down to $4 and I had an additional coupon so I got it for $3. I bought 3 of them – will use for Christmas donations. Otherwise – i’ve been watching and it’s a dud. Will hit them tonight though just in case…

  10. Lauren

Ladies there are some FABULOUS deals. However target is taking their dear sweet time marking them all down. You need to find an employee that is doing the markdowns. They will not ring up 70% off at the cash register or at the price checker UNTIL they are physically marked down with the machine and given a sticker. Fill up your cart with any clearance toys you find and then find the scanner employee!!! At 8am this morning nothing was marked down. I walked out of there at 10am with over 30 toys marked down 70% for just $150. Most items were under $10 and several for just $1!!! Keep checking back before its all gone!

    • Steph

the pricing team now comes In at 8am instead of earlier so depending on where they start their day it may take a while for toys to be marked down.. Never at 8am though now

  11. kellybelly0513

My children are outgrowing a lot of the toys, and I try not to buy things anymore just because they are cheap, I try to stick to things that I know they will like! I did find a few lalaloopsy dolls, moxie dolls and a Glitzy globe set for them.

    • Amy

I found the same thing…I’m going for quality over quantity and what THEY want vs. what I want then to want 😉 My kids are only 3 and 5 and our house is FILLED with toys that I thought they would just LOVE but NEVER play with. They tend to play with the same toys over and over. Many are not even toys or cost anything. I’m learning how to listen to my kids, not the ads, family or friends or my own wants.

      • Jamie

I’m with you Amy. My daughter is turning one and already has more toys than she needs. My husband and I started saving some toys from Christmas, Easter etc from grandparents and spreading them out throughout the year. In fact, she got a toy for Christmas that was too old for her so we are just going to rewrap it and give it to her for her bday hah!

        • Laura

I used to do the same thing when my oldest was a baby/toddler. His bday is 10 days before Christmas which is very overwhelming toy-wise. I held back usually 6 toys & would get a new one out each month for 6 months. Got away with it till he was 4 😉

  12. Amy

Went to my store this morning and they were still only 15-30% off. 🙁

  13. jeay

3 Targets near me have been 70% off since last week- except legos were 50%
    Nothing good left

    • Tracy

My Target in DC had a few lego city marked dowm from $59 to $20. The same one at the other Target is regular. So is the price decided by the store manager or corp?

      • Steph

        corp

    • Katie

      • Katie

  17. Vanessa

Went to a Target in Anaheim/ Garden Grove and the toy section was only marked 30%. I did see a few board games marked down to 70% but not worth the trouble. There was only 1 each from the handful of games.

So much for just going in for hash browns! But ready for Christmas now!

    • Laura

  28. Nesska

    Is this only today?

  29. Sd

Was totally unaware of this sale 😞…was it only for a day or will be there tomorrow as well?

  30. Mama

I went today and the prices were not reduced, but if you scan the product with your target app, the lower price comes up and they will price match.

  31. Jody

My Target had the Imaginext pirate ship for 17.08! What a steal!! Thanks for the heads up Collin! Note to others: it was not marked as clearance at all-no sign and no sticker on the box but when I price checked it was ringing up at 17.08! I also got a switch & go Dino excavator/mammoth for around $7 and that was not marked either!
