I have a grandmother and uncle with dementia. Anyone see this? Is it hard to watch?

A little hard to watch when it touches home, but a very good movie and gives those that haven’t been touched by Alzheimer’s or dementia, a new and realistic perspective. The book was very good too. I cried and usually do at sad movies, but my family is also currently going thru this with my grandfather 🙁

It was really good. A little slow at times, but overall good. My grandpa died of Alzheimers and my mom has cognitive issues so I really enjoyed the movie.

I watched this movie after losing my grandpa to dementia and I have to say that I cried but I typically cry at sad movies. I really thought it was a good movie though.

Good movie, good casting. I dont have any personal connections to dementia but it got me upset at the end for sure! I had to have a good cry afterwards. Whew.

I read the book and it was very good. I would like to see the movie but I need to find out how to get it from iPad to the TV screen. My father has dementia. Another book I highly recommend if you have children elementary age and up is “What’s Happening to Grandpa?” by Maria Shriver. It’s not really a one read and done book because my niece occasionally needs reminded to be kind and understanding when her grandpa asks for the 6th time in a row “Did you win your soccer game?”

Get an Apple TV box. You can AirPlay right from your iPad to your TV. It’s how we use Amazon prime and YouTube!

It says 24 hour rental? I’m confused.

    • Jennifer Griffith Moore

Once you start watching it you have 24 hrs to watch it. Like if you have to stop it for some reason… or if someone else in the family wants to watch it.

        K, thanks!

I haven’t seen the movie but I was recently watching a show about the autopsy of the late Robin Williams. The coroner said that upon examining his brain, he had the onset of dementia in addition to Parkinson’s, his well known depression & prostate issues. I’m sure he noticed some of the symptoms without being able to express what was happening to his brain in addition to what was going on physically with his body. So sad 😕

I’ve never rented from Amazon before. Are we only allowed to watch it once? If we do watch it twice, do we get charged again? I’m sooo used to Amazon Prime movies 😛

You can watch as many times as you want 24 hours from when you first start watching.

My dad had dementia, and I think this film is very realistic. Another excellent one is the story of Glen Campbell’s journey through dementia entitled “I’ll Be Me”.
